The fact that She's doing Van life with her condition just makes her my hero!!!! Btw my spouse of 9yrs is a stage 3 colon cancer Survivor! And I'm sure without us living together when we did . He would have had a much different outcome. But because of my experience being sick . I was able to help him catch it . I'm just say mr.kevin hill... I know what u have went through. Be proud of urself and family because butt cancer and Crohn's disease is quite literally a pain in the ass for all!!!! @@hoppas77 I have Crohn's disease so it was easier for me to know that something was really wrong with him other than IBS or GI tract infection because I had been there and done that with the doctors he finally got diagnosed when I went to the ER with him and demanded they give him a CT scan

@@stevemuzak8526 I wouldn't call it depression, just battled from life, imagine yourself living with a sickness or the consequences of a sickness, it's something that makes you actually sit down and think about life and about yourself you know, she seems very thoughtful and probably just tries to make the best of it, and while living with such a condition, traveling can serve as a great relief and also leading a humble simple lifestyle can reduce a lot of stress, and I guess that is what she needs the most at this point. Life is not about happiness. It's just that this world wants you to chase happiness like it's the purpose of life. The main purpose of life is witnessing God's creation, and doing God's will, and maybe bring a light into the darkness that evil people have manifested down here over the centuries, the world's governments. She is closer to life than most who are still stuck in this world. Life and world are not one and the same. This masonic world is within life. There is no need to be part of this manmade world when you're part of life which is GOD.

I traveled around the US in this exact van. Brought back great memories! I appreciate you sharing your medical condition and how you make can life work for you with it. I had to use a straight catheter for a year following a spinal cord injury and decided to hike across Spain 11 months after the accident. I had to bring a much bigger backpack to have room for 250 catheters and other medical equipment. It’s nice to see others making their conditions work for them 🙌🏼

This is my ideal for life as a limited income retiree. I don’t feel the need to be tied to one place anymore and I want to see things and meet people, share stories and just go with the flow, as I have never been able to before due to responsibilities. Thank you for a realistic look at this life.

As an introverted traveler, this is exactly why I do part-time Van Life in my Roatrek Zion RV---while teaching online. Love my hubby, but it's my home away from home when I solo travel 🧡 or want to meet up with other ladies to camp with.
I used to think people who lived like this were just avoiding being responsible adults. But as I got older, I feel like, if this is what draws your heart and spirit, I think you should go for it. And besides, anyone who has a cat as a travel partner has to be a decent person! I had a cat who was my travel partner across the country for many years until he passed away in 2018. I think this girl should journal or share her story and adventures online. If she doesn’t already. This country has so many beautiful places most of us never see anymore. 👍👍👍
Nah, it's actually more responsible and smarter. Obviously not everyone goes about it that way, but it's people living within their means, not throwing it all away on rent. Great solution if you're down on your luck, want ownership or to live a more free non confined life. A lot of "responsible" adults make great money yet live paycheck to paycheck trying to keep up the illusion of doing well or outshining their neighbors. They're not always more responsible, they just participate deeper in the illusion to look that way. Respect to her for getting her own little tiny home. In the end do you! :)
@@rashb3994 Yeah I agree, but I can understand why you'd think that, we live in a VERY regimented society, even though the fifties were LONG ago, its taken social media to really open peoples eyes. I've seen other van videos, I like her better than most, not that it should be a contest. I think there's going to be a division eventually with cat people and dog people each watching their own team:) And she's very smart to learn some mechanical, so many of these van people have little money and yet have no idea how to do the simplest things and get taken for a ride by dealerships. The interior design is important, but the thing is a vehicle too, you need to know that side of it if you are going to move it around. I had a somewhat distasteful thought, but rather than propane, what if you hooked up a composting toilet to a digester and also threw your food waste in there and then piped in the gas to do your cooking with?

@@rashb3994 LOL, They're a big part of off grid housing, just a big tank filled with water and a pressure valve for safety and methane is naturally occurring once you stuff, er, stuff in it. I first noticed this over a decade ago when I saw what we'd call 'third world' farmers, and essentially they just ran an open metal tube from where the animals crap to their kitchen stove and then lit it up and thats how they did their daily cooking-they usually powered up a hearth which probably would be too much for van life, but for off grid housing if you've ever seen the cob ovens they used to use, you heat up the outside, then when the fire was out, the main meal was cooked when it was super hot, then bread was coooked when it was moderate, and dessert cooked slowly as it was cooling. With gas that could heat up the cob oven, some ingenious vanlifers could probably figure out how to make as pretty small one to make scones in the morning, bread in the afternoon, rice pudding at night as its cooling. Now I"m hungry.
Rent has become too expensive and until recently this was a more affordable way to live on jobs paying anywhere from below poverty to lower middle class wages. They can try and glamorize this lifestyle all they want but it's not as much of a choice as it was either this or living out of a backpack.

I did van life with my gf in 2017 to 2018 in Chicago. Your van is amazing, I had a stealth van out of a 2004 Chevy Astro van awd. I gutted it and put a lot of work into the van inside, I put a 2 inch lift kit and we went everywhere, you definitley get some people that ask " you live in a van?" We had an apartment I let my friend rent it, We had a blast. People over think this, the best advice I can give is, just do it, Thank you for sharing your van.
I could tell right away that she had a life event.....I could feel it. Once you go through something and push forward you become more understanding and compassionate to everything thats around you and you can see that ease of acceptance in her smile. Wish she was on TH-cam 🚌
A dear friend living with Crohn’s disease mad3 the decision to get the surgery last year, and it’s been life changing for her. She’s finally able to travel, and is enjoying new freedom. Happy travels to you!
So you had colon cancer, that is rough at such a young age. I'm sorry you had to go through that. I lost my daughter to cancer as well, and she was in her mid 30's. Much respect to you for being tough and setting your priorities right. You have a beautiful van and a lovely cat. You are very good looking too! The issue with the water heater pilot light going off - there is often a lot of debris like ash and soot clogging the flues. Bang on them gently and use canned air to blow out the flues. There is a spider that likes the smell of propane and it could have built a web in there. Blow it all out and make sure the thermocouple is placed correctly near the flame. Do the same thing for your fridge, which runs on propane. It gets blocked easily. The water heater may need to be flushed out with vinegar to remove scale inside so it can work efficiently. There are TH-cam videos on that. Either its an Atwood or Surburban. The Suburban needs a new anode every year - you need to check. The Atwood does not. You may also need a new Thermostat Assembly - this one is an easy fix. If this malfunctions, heater won't work. These are standard maintenance issues that you have to learn to do. Make sure your propane tank (if its a mounted one) is certified as being still functional with no safety issues. Don't use workarounds for hot water. You deserve a nice hot shower . RVs like houses, need maintenance.
I've been watching a lot of van life videos recently. This is by far my favorite. Wonderful, centered, independent woman with the best van ever: comfortable and homey. And of course the cat. Love the cat. I wish you the very best in life's journey.

I am a physical therapist starting travel therapy at the end of this month. This video spoke to me! My biggest concerns with getting a van has been my cat and the fact that I am not handy mechanically at all. She makes me feel like I can take this on. Her van is pretty nice for how old it is. I love her kitty. Nice bathroom! I Have been living in my 1994 Winnebago Warrior class A with my little dog Tinkerbell for 4 years. I decided to live full time on the road after I beat Kidney Cancer. I also have congestive heart failure and I have never regretted changing my life and filming my adventures. I am living my dream! I will be 61 this month and excited every day to be alive! Congratulations on going out into this life style even with your medical needs. You are amazing and continue to live life to the fullest!

@@stevemuzak8526 I wouldn't call it depression, just battled from life, imagine yourself living with a sickness or the consequences of a sickness, it's something that makes you actually sit down and think about life and about yourself you know, she seems very thoughtful and probably just tries to make the best of it, and while living with such a condition, traveling can serve as a great relief and also leading a humble simple lifestyle can reduce a lot of stress, and I guess that is what she needs the most at this point. Life is not about happiness. It's just that this world wants you to chase happiness like it's the purpose of life. The main purpose of life is witnessing God's creation, and doing God's will, and maybe bring a light into the darkness that evil people have manifested down here over the centuries, the world's governments. She is closer to life than most who are still stuck in this world. Life and world are not one and the same. This masonic world is within life. There is no need to be part of this manmade world when you're part of life which is GOD.

I appreciate you sharing your medical condition and how you make can life work for you with it. I had to use a straight catheter for a year following a spinal cord injury and decided to hike across Spain 11 months after the accident. I had to bring a much bigger backpack to have room for 250 catheters and other medical equipment.

This is my ideal for life as a limited income retiree. I don’t feel the need to be tied to one place anymore and I want to see things and meet people, share stories and just go with the flow, as I have never been able to before due to responsibilities. Thank you for a realistic look at this life.

You are supposed to clean the kitty toilet before it smells. Multiple times a day if necessary.

I used to think people who lived like this were just avoiding being responsible adults. But as I got older, I feel like, if this is what draws your heart and spirit, I think you should go for it. Nah, it's actually more responsible and smarter. Obviously not everyone goes about it that way, but it's people living within their means, not throwing it all away on rent. Great solution if you're down on your luck, want ownership or to live a more free non confined life. A lot of "responsible" adults make great money yet live paycheck to paycheck trying to keep up the illusion of doing well or outshining their neighbors. They're not always more responsible, they just participate deeper in the illusion to look that way. Respect to her for getting her own little tiny home. In the end do you! :)
@@rashb3994 Yeah I agree, but I can understand why you'd think that, we live in a VERY regimented society, even though the fifties were LONG ago, its taken social media to really open peoples eyes. I've seen other van videos, I like her better than most, not that it should be a contest. I think there's going to be a division eventually with cat people and dog people each watching their own team:) And she's very smart to learn some mechanical, so many of these van people have little money and yet have no idea how to do the simplest things and get taken for a ride by dealerships. The interior design is important, but the thing is a vehicle too, you need to know that side of it if you are going to move it around.
I had a somewhat distasteful thought, but rather than propane, what if you hooked up a composting toilet to a digester and also threw your food waste in there and then piped in the gas to do your cooking with?

@@rashb3994 LOL, They're a big part of off grid housing, just a big tank filled with water and a pressure valve for safety and methane is naturally occurring once you stuff, er, stuff in it.
I first noticed this over a decade ago when I saw what we'd call 'third world' farmers, and essentially they just ran an open metal tube from where the animals crap to their kitchen stove and then lit it up and thats how they did their daily cooking-they usually powered up a hearth which probably would be too much for van life, but for off grid housing if you've ever seen the cob ovens they used to use, you heat up the outside, then when the fire was out, the main meal was cooked when it was super hot, then bread was coooked when it was moderate, and dessert cooked slowly as it was cooling.
With gas that could heat up the cob oven, some ingenious vanlifers could probably figure out how to make as pretty small one to make scones in the morning, bread in the afternoon, rice pudding at night as its cooling. Now I"m hungry.
Rent has become too expensive and until recently this was a more affordable way to live on jobs paying anywhere from below poverty to lower middle class wages. They can try and glamorize this lifestyle all they want but it's not as much of a choice as it was either this or living out of a backpack.

I did van life with my gf in 2017 to 2018 in Chicago. Your van is amazing, I had a stealth van out of a 2004 Chevy Astro van awd. I gutted it and put a lot of work into the van inside, I put a 2 inch lift kit and we went everywhere, you definitley get some people that ask " you live in a van?" We had an apartment I let my friend rent it, We had a blast. People over think this, the best advice I can give is, just do it, Thank you for sharing your van.

So you had colon cancer, that is rough at such a young age. I'm sorry you had to go through that. I lost my daughter to cancer as well, and she was in her mid 30's. Much respect to you for being tough and setting your priorities right.

The issue with the water heater pilot light going off - there is often a lot of debris like ash and soot clogging the flues. Bang on them gently and use canned air to blow out the flues. There is a spider that likes the smell of propane and it could have built a web in there. Blow it all out and make sure the thermocouple is placed correctly near the flame. Do the same thing for your fridge, which runs on propane. It gets blocked easily. The water heater may need to be flushed out with vinegar to remove scale inside so it can work efficiently. There are TH-cam videos on that. Either its an Atwood or Surburban. The Suburban needs a new anode every year - you need to check. The Atwood does not. You may also need a new Thermostat Assembly - this one is an easy fix. If this malfunctions, heater won't work. These are standard maintenance issues that you have to learn to do. Make sure your propane tank (if its a mounted one) is certified as being still functional with no safety issues. Don't use workarounds for hot water. You deserve a nice hot shower . RVs like houses, need maintenance.

I am a physical therapist starting travel therapy at the end of this month. This video spoke to me! My biggest concerns with getting a van has been my cat and the fact that I am not handy mechanically at all. She makes me feel like I can take this on. I Have been living in my 1994 Winnebago Warrior class A with my little dog Tinkerbell for 4 years. I decided to live full time on the road after I beat Kidney Cancer. I also have congestive heart failure and I have never regretted changing my life and filming my adventures. I am living my dream! I will be 61 this month and excited every day to be alive!
