  • As my loyal subscribers know, I explore above and below the water and from the air. There is one story I have been wanting to share with you all, the history, ultimate loss and the discovery of the former US Revenue Cutter, later USCG Cutter McCulloch. I was NOAA’s chief scientist on the discovery mission in 2016 in partnership with the USCG. I modified my public presentation for this TH-cam video to honor the ship’s place in history the brave men that served on board the ship in war and in peace. June 13, 2022 marks the 105th anniversary of the sinking off Point Conception California.
In 2021, the shipwreck site was added to the National Register of Historic Places honoring the brave men that served aboard at the Battle of Manila Bay, Bering Sea Patrols in the Arctic and the Pacific West Coast WWI patrols and rescues throughout its 20-year career both in the United States Revenue Cutter Service and United States Coast Guard
