As someone who has every piece of aluminum under the hood polished and a set a fully polished Borbet A's, get a cutting wheel and some different grit compounds, makes it go by so much faster. If your going for mirror look, don't clear, just stay on top of re-polishing as needed. Clear doesn't last on top of a mirror, you'll be right back to where you were in a year. If you go for unpolished then clear will last longer.
Just noticed the attic access in your part of the garage... Might be able to clear out more work space if you move stuff up there... If you haven't already.
Clear doesn't stick to a mirror. It wont last, and will not look polished. There is a reason truckers and airplane owners are always polishing their aluminum.
2000-3000 isn’t brushed finish.. That’s what you use to correct fresh paint before buffing, way too fine for brushed finish.. You want to go 320, then MAYBE 600
Yeah so I totally forgot about the machining that the saw blades have and definitely would need a much lower grit to actually remove all of it. Gotta decide what the next move is lol
@@Mk3Smith It doesn’t really matter, just took a lot more work. 220 would be a good starting point even, then the following grits are easy to bring it up to where you want it.. SideNote: you’d be surprised how shallow even moderately bad curb rash is too. Oftentimes what looks nasty will come out with 120 in minutes, then just run up through the grits. In those cases I take the entire lip down 1/16, and you’ll never know.
there was a place in miami I had mine redone. they put the lathe markes back in the wheel and it looked factory.. unfortunately they are no longer therei. i have very rare set of 1993 machined face zr1 rear wheels id love to have redone, even thought i no longer have the car.

There is a steel wool for cleaning glass (0000 grade) it is very smooth and does the job. Very interesting video, thanks. RickGTI….. 🌴
They are looking good!! A machine with a stand to polish/buff would be awesome. I think a clear will probably be needed at the end.
They look almost like teardrop rims. Clean
Your driveway/garage situation is so much better now :)
" Afternoon hurricane " i figured it had to be Florida

Whatever finish you decide on, clear them after, or you will be doing it all over again in 6 months 😂
