    Excellent breakdown. This seems to define the biggest difference between 3.5 and above. Also it seems that so many people have”baseline anxiety” and feel compelled to rush off the baseline into the kitchen line. Once you feel comfortable with baseline defense and transition defense the game just opens up.

    I view the "transition zone" as the opportunity zone. I seem to have a better overview of the entire court and can capture opportunities. The new style of playing pickleball seems to focus on third shot drives and fifth shot drops.
    So it seems like the more we can practice being effective in this transition zone it takes the pressure off of feeling like you have to get to the net as soon as possible. I personally practice taking two large steps and split stepping ready to rock and roll

    Over analyzing not good just play instinctively and keep the pressure on your opponent.
