Scott thanks for your input with the R/L handed players on determining when the shot should be taken based off the pace of the ball. Awesome insight and will help with my doubles partner moving forward. Love this podcast!
I know it only speaks to a small population of the Pickleball players, but would it be possible for y’all to do a whole segment on being a lefty and maybe I guess include playing with Lefty. As a lefty I really think it’s tough when people don’t want to stack and they want to play back hands in the middle, I’d love to hear Scott’s thoughts on all this
I was saw most of that match at Los Cab. It was really long, but very cool to watch. On the note of patterns, when I am on the left I like to take cross court dinks to the middle with a bait ball that I am already moving into position to counter.
Thanks for another great pod - curious to know if either of you guys have ever tried SUPMOGO belt or similar products ? I know Jill is big into fitness and wondered if you thought these types of products were worthwhile - thanks for all you do- happy holidays!
I think I'll need to watch this multiple times just to try and digest all this information; I feel like I was playing the left more like a cornerback, just looking to for a ball to steal, and not a QB trying to really setup and control the play. Question for the right side, if you're confident in your backhand counters and flicks is it alright to play overly aggressive on the right pinching middle and even poaching some cross court shots. I find myself pinching even when I'm on the right (i'm right handed) and kind of baiting my line.
Being aggressive from the right is indeed the current trend at the highest levels. It does require some additional skills on the backhand side but if you’ve got them, you should definitely reach in there and use them. Especially when your partner is out wide on the left side - you don’t want both of you hugging middle at the same time.
@socal_lefty_yt Do you think the majority of teams will be moving to the strategy of the right taking up more space in mixed depending on the players? For example at Virgina beach cup the Johns's brothers vs Staksrud/Patriquin; Ben was taking up the majority from the left while on the opposite side Patriquin looked to be covering the majority but from the right as a right-handed player

Thank you for answering the question R/L handed players. Much appreciated JB and Scott!

Go lefties!
I have been playing with a lot of lefties lately. It is especially money when it is a female player.
I think that sounds like a great idea. I’ll put that on our list of potential upcoming topics.
@socal_lefty_yt what about when not to unwind/stack, even with a lefty?

Dink middle and cover middle is a solid plan. Just make sure your partner is aware and as ready as you are.
