Me too, and also his reaction when HP made that _incredible_ return of the Ernie. I keep hearing praise of all the smack talk and controversy, people saying that's what the sport needs. I much prefer the positivity and good sportsmanship that has been the hallmark of Pickleball.
@@TheMary0831 I hear you. I'm not normally a fan of the "bad boy" attitude, but something about Patriquin appeals to me. I think Tellez has been largely overshadowed by his association with Fed, but you're right, he really is a talented and appealing player.
Watching CJ have an all out melt down when Pablo/Hayden hit the net cord then turn around and FIST PUMP his own winner off the tape at 44:09 is absolutely wild.
As a starting point, CJ needs to stop wearing his negative emotions on his sleeves. Much younger players are showing so much maturity: staying cool and calm win or lose. CJ's constant open display of his frustration only harms their chance to focus and win.
Why do they insist on the close side view to start the point? I love not being able to see what’s going on til they get to the kitchen. Come on ppa, fix your videography formula. And the moving camera at the kitchen seems to float and makes us queasy. Hold it still.
CJ is the best partner for Ben…both of them had errors in this match…no one can reset like CJ NO ONE….cant win em all but no other team is even close with the wins these guys have…I do like the Téllez and H duo
well,I applaud them for trying out new tactics being more aggresive and CJ speeding up and creating more offense instead of the old dinking for 10 years every time. It really refreshing and fun to watch.Once they have it figured out they are going to be back on top again.Losing it just a learning process.
James is a left side player though. The right and left side are played very different and have different roles. James just wasn’t prepared for what he needed to do over there. James actually talks about his experience playing with Ben on a podcast and talks about how they knew they weren’t going to be a good match but just wanted to play together because they are friends. Personally, I think CJ is really holding Ben back. Ben has been rising with the collective skill progression. CJ has fallen behind.
@@JflipJedi That just is not a good enough excuse for Jimmy, he played the right for McGuffin how is he gonna say he didn't know how to play the right. Patriquin almost exclusively plays the left, but the won Gold with Staksrud on the right. I do agree Ben needs a new partner, I'd be interested to see him with a lefty like Ge. But I don't agree completely with CJ sucks because he didn't win with a much better player like James.
@@BlGSac That just tells me Patriquin is better at switching sides. Not that James is a good right side player. I mean, look at the game! Ben was literally covering 90% of the court and still almost won! He just needs someone solid on the right so he can do his thing on the left.
in doubles the person on the right goes first and then switches sides when they score a point. If they lose a volley the person on the left goes. If they lose that volley it switches sides and it repeats. First serve of the game only the player on the right goes then it goes to the other team. the score is called 0-0-2 the first being your score, second the opponent score, last your serving order. Either a 1 or a 2
Invincibility around Ben is falling now in both singles and doubles..players catching up with him quickly...it would be interesting to see how he handles it
Honestly his game has been slipping for a while now. I've never seen him make this many errors and leave so many dinks high. He used to play like he did when he turned his hat backwards at the end, so much more often and consistently. He's still the best but he's not as dominant as he was that's for sure
Such a great match. But the videography always fall short. Why can’t we blend the best of both worlds. Why can’t the camera angle be facing the length of the court until all four get to the kitchen and then it can switch to this side view. It’s able to capture way more. It’s inconsistent. Sometimes we got others we didn’t. Hard to stay tuned into amazing match with inconsistent angles
yall are biased af BJ made a lot of bad plays too just bc CJ doesn't win points which isn't his role people just bash him randomly when they are just as bad. Go watch Ben next mixed double match about to upload to see how bad Ben play
@@silverdc5 his role needs to be more active, unpredictable and assertive for today’s game. Not an overhaul, but 20-30 % more aggressive needed. And he should try a harder/faster paddle to speed up his game and increase the efficacy of counter attacks.
CJ is good, but he needs to be more aggressive. I want to see BJ and Dylan Frazier play together one day. Dylan plays great on the right and aggressive!
It doesn't matter. We cannot prove that the Team Women's USA basketball would be better with Clark on the Olympic roster. And we cannot prove that the attendance would be higher at the Olympics if she was on Team USA either. It doesn't help to speculate on "What it's and only's." And the narrator said imagine what she would have done if she were on the team. Imagine if Team USA would have done worse with her on the team. Team chemistry and experience does make a difference. And I love how the narrator says it's not just about one player, but yet all they talk about is how only Clark could change the landscape of USA womens basketball. If USA wins gold in Paris, what will Stephon A say then. 😮🤔
That's not illegal. The ONLY restriction regarding the non-volley zone is that you can't _volley_ the ball in the zone. You can stand anywhere you want, any time you want. But if you hit the ball out of the air while touching the kitchen, that's a fault.
Man all the pros play so weird, and a lot of people me or me and my buddy vs. I’m telling u man. Why does every body play up by kitchen, like how many people do I have to destroy singles or doubles dic, I have dominated every single person I play, indoor or outdoor, pickleball doubles with my buddy, we never lost or singles, I still never lost. People playing up is so bad. Playing back way back baseline is the way to play. Man better safer more fun. If you play up and just me singles or me and my buddy doubles, if we’re back, we’re hitting power shots at you with wicked spin and if it hits u sorry, it’s your own fault, your in the strike zone. And with are wicked spin shots we’re gonna hit it straight at u or down the middle or those corner outside lines man works like a charm. Or we’re gonna lob over your head, then u run back, then we drop shot, then over your head, then drop shot, then power wicked spin shot, then drop shot, then wicked spin shot like your done. And by the time we hit are wicked spin shot, your racket when it makes contact with the ball is gonna go 4 different ways either into the net or u miss the ball because it curved or whatever or the ball will go out or the ball goes over and you get it, the ball will most likely be a drop shot, then we just lob over your head and we keep going. And let the ball bounce always u have so much more control over the ball but if you hit it in mid air it’s random u never know what your gonna get. But pickleball is a great game.
Must give props to the PPA on the video quality here. Although the bar was low, this was noticeably better than recent tournaments
Yeah, no freezing on this one.

CJ is the funniest! Him making sweet love to the ball at 30:56 was amazing. When he said "we're pulling out the shackles and chains" I died
I don't know what was better: the match, or the improved video quality. SO much better
I think this is the best pickleball match I’ve ever seen

YES! Patriquin has 'tude I don't like, although I love to watch him play. Pablo is so likeable, and humble. Also incredibly talented.

Looove when Ben gets ‘ playful ‘ shows me he’s having fun ❤
Pablo’s thirds were incredible the whole match
PPA needs camera behind the players during the serve and onky switch once they get to kitchen
Hopefully in time when major networks get involved
Pablo Tellez is BACK baby. What a beast! I mean obviously H was amazing but Tellez played excellent pickleball.

great match! also appreciated the quality of the video.
It's great seeing new talent come around for the sport. Love Ben and CJ but we need new faces on the podium for the sport to evolve.
Finally a pickleball match worth watching 🎉
CJ resets n blocks are mind boggling
As a starting point, CJ needs to stop wearing his negative emotions on his sleeves. Much younger players are showing so much maturity: staying cool and calm win or lose. CJ's constant open display of his frustration only harms their chance to focus and win.
It makes him appear selfish like he was spoiled growing up and expects all luck to go his way because he is the one worthy of it.
You guys did Tellez dirty with that old picture of his 😂😂😂

Yet another umpire error 5:54. His back foot was the last to leave the ground, when will the umpires get this right
