wait till the Wizard finds out that the tachometer in the Corvette is mechanical and was originally driven off of the now missing factory points type distributer. That's going to be more than a $200 dollar repair. That's a tough choice to make for anyone doing a restomod on these 1960's Vette's. If you upgrade the distributer to an HEI you lose the only means to drive the mechanical tachometer.
An easy way to tell if the paint is original or if it's been repainted the same color would be to look for the line down the side panels where top and bottom of the fiberglass body were bonded together. It's usually visible on original paint cars.

Couldn't agree more. And if it's truly original paint it boggles the mind how it can still look that good. Just amazing. I wish that colour had been an option on C7s. Wasn't a fan of the blue options I had when I bought mine, they were all took dark or would end up looking dark in shade due to heavy metallic use. So I went with white, but if that blue had been an option I wouldn't have had to spend ANY extra time deciding on a colour for it. Such a good blue.
Out of all the guys online doing this sort of thing, Hoovies the KING in my book,dude seems just so kind and friendly. i just bought a 2015 mustang roush stage 3, can't wait for the covid to go away as Milen Raceway is only about 45 min from me with all others being 3-4 hours. but crossing into Michigan from ontario for drag racing is still a no go. I have a C4 and a C7 and have at least rode passenger or drove every generation from C1 to C8. I just wanted to say that I like so much at how the overall idea and design of every generation of Corvette is so closely connected and even though every newer generation is changed and modified in great and significant ways you can still clearly see the Corvette in everyone of them. The Chevy Corvette is for sure the greatest high performance car for the REAL car guy ever made.
If the distributor was replaced with an aftermarket one, check to see if the one installed has the provision for connecting the factory Tach “gear driven” cable to it. These older corvettes had cable gear driven tachometers. Some aftermarket distributors like Mallory made mechanical geared units for the corvette like the AC Delco unit. I’ve found some swap out distributors without the cable connection requiring a digital analog gauge conversion from Dakota Digital. It’s a beautiful car! Congrats on another fabulous addition to the stable.
Need to start a "Hoovies Car Museum" so you can not only keep more cars that you like but also have them help pay for themselves from ticket sales, and be tax write-offs as business expenses/purchases for the Museum!
I once worked with a guy who said his car still had some gas left in the tank because the low level warning light hasn’t come on yet. The next day we saw him pushing his car down the road. Turns out his car never had a low fuel warning light

Tyler, the 1966 Power brake master cylinder has separate circuits like what Wizard is looking for. The originals cost thousands of dollars when you can find them because they are so rare, but there’s a quality reproduction out there that would look good in that engine compartment and improve braking.

We actually found a Freddy's Restaurant in Lexington, SC. I loved it!!! I first went to a Freddy's in Wichita, then we went to one in Denver, Colorado. Love the Nassau Blue Corvette. It is Beautiful!!!
I have loved every one of your videos from the start. This one and the one from a week ago, however, are very exciting. My dad had a Nassau Blue '66 just like that when I was growing up. Some one proly said this about the '64 vette's tach, but just in case the C2 & C3 up till '74 tachometers were mechanical. The OEM distributor, even the TI cars, had a cable that drove the tachs. The addition of the MSD 6AL system ( box + MSD distributor ) could be had either way I think. Not 100% sure , but I think the replacement distributor could be either electronic or the optional tach drive distributor could be had at a lot of extra $$$! Most ppl used to get the 6AL box, and buy either a magnetic or light chopper conversion kit. I think a petronix conversion kit would work with the OEM distributor, if you have it. On the brakes, I'd swap in a wilwood system, if you can hack the price. Even just up grading to the later, '67 thru '72 non-power brake system will be almost the same money in reproduction parts. If it were my car, a non NCRS car, I'd do the wilwood sytem. JMHO. Save the Wave!
Hoovie invest in vacant land/ wooded areas just out of towns. Buy acreage you can sever later. This will give you lots of $$ within 10 years for all the vehicles you want

The 66 in that blue has been my dream car sine I was a kid. I made a model of it when I was in 3-4 grade. It’s gorgeous.

i think as far as lambos go the diablo is pretty reliable and they made em for a while so parts aren’t impossible

Some one proly said this about the '64 vette's tach, but just in case the C2 & C3 up till '74 tachometers were mechanical. The OEM distributor, even the TI cars, had a cable that drove the tachs. The addition of the MSD 6AL system ( box + MSD distributor ) could be had either way I think. Not 100% sure , but I think the replacement distributor could be either electronic or the optional tach drive distributor could be had at a lot of extra $$$! Most ppl used to get the 6AL box, and buy either a magnetic or light chopper conversion kit. I think a petronix conversion kit would work with the OEM distributor, if you have it. On the brakes, I'd swap in a wilwood system, if you can hack the price. Even just up grading to the later, '67 thru '72 non-power brake system will be almost the same money in reproduction parts. If it were my car, a non NCRS car, I'd do the wilwood sytem. JMHO. Save the Wave!
Hoovie invest in vacant land/ wooded areas just out of towns. Buy acreage you can sever later. This will give you lots of $$ within 10 years for all the vehicles you want

The tachometer is mechanical drive. You need the MSD distributor with tach drive. That will work with the MSD box. This is the exact setup I have.
Fun fact there are 5x more of these cars in the U.S. than were ever made .... finding a numbers matching is a holy grail moment . Keep looking car people they are out there .

Tachs on midyear vettes are mechanically driven by the distributor and make a beautiful sound. With that distributor you will need a conversion kit.
Should of had a mechanical tach. Need a correct MSD tach drive distributor.

It's hard to choose between those three... One drives incredibly wel, the other is quick and the last one is one of the most beautiful cars I know (Bentley-Lambo-Stingray)
The tachometer gets the RPM's from a cable that connects to the stock distributor. I found that out when i upgraded my ignition on my 64 corvette.
Im an Englishman, my eyes were rolling hard seeing a beautiful Bentley used as a pickup truck. Only in America
