Heard Petrucciani 'by accident' when listening to Jazz radio back in late 2000. I didn't know what the song was, but the radio host said it was Petrucciani after it played. I was lucky enough to have been recording the radio station that evening. I played that song so many times and then bought a few Petrucciani albums and fell in love with his playing.
I found out later that the song was called Besame Mucho; Petrucciani became one of my favourites. Of all the Besame Mucho renditions he does my favourite has to be from his live at the Theatre Champs-Elysées, in 1994. I got the album maybe around 2009 when I finally found out where that particular version of Besame Mucho that I had heard almost a decade before was from.
