    Hai my 2008 gmc Denali is throwing p1133 and p 1153, which are upstream oxygen sensors. I changed both sensors and getting the same above code again. Any suggestions? Thanks

    What does it mean when the scanner says "Reprogram powertrain control module" and also shows P1133 and secondary DTCs P1153?

    I really need your advice I have a 2010 Malibu 2.5 LT with code P1133 HO2S insufficient switching how do I go about fixing it

    • @BigDog50001
      @BigDog50001  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just like you said, it is a Bank 1 Sensor 1 insufficient switching issue (the sensor is flat-lined and not switching rich to lean like it should). This is the oxygen sensor located before catalytic converter on the bank 1 side. Usually it is a bad sensor, but sometimes it can be a wiring or a O2 heater circuit issue.
      Excessive oil and coolant consumption (burning) can cause issues for sensors, I would make sure those fluid levels are ok. It can be diagnosed several ways including how I showed in this video. I have another Chevy O2 video that has other diagnostic techniques. th-cam.com/video/0r4NCfrgBbI/w-d-xo.html
      **A note: After Oxygen sensor replacement, some Chevy's need to have the codes cleared and O2 heater resistance learned value reset with a capable scan tool or the sensor could fail again quickly.

    Hi big dog,I have 2001 chevy taho with code p1133 the sensors are gud ,but the light keep coming back, and I add put spacers on the one in the back dont know what mor to do

    • @BigDog50001
      @BigDog50001  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If it was in my shop I would look at Oxygen Sensor (O2) data on a scan tool and see what activity I have on it (the code indicates insufficient switching on Bank 1 Sensor 1). Besides making sure all wiring and connections are good, I would also make sure I don't have any vacuum leaks on bank 1 and that I don't have any exhaust leaks near O2 sensor.

Later on heard oem denso is the way to go i replaced with a denso and light continues to come back any suggestions i have voltage at the connector no vacume leaks grounds look ok..

    • @BigDog50001
      @BigDog50001  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Junior Lopez I prefer AC Delco for GM, but that’s just personal preference. I would look at signal on a scan tool like I did in video, many cheap code readers can see live data now. After a certain amount of time, the upstream (S1) oxygen sensor should have up and down switching activity on a properly operating engine and the engine computer is not seeing this activity and is setting the code.
      The main causes of this are bad sensors, broken wires or poor connections at sensor but it can be other things. If you have already thrown parts at it, I would look for broken wires and try to confirm all wiring is intact and functioning. Of course don’t overlook simple things like making sure you are working on correct sensor and that it is plugged in correctly.

    I have a 98 dodge ram 1500 with 5.2. Pulls a po171 code lean bank one slow response. I have replaced every sensor , vacuum leaks,idle control valve, catalytic converter, gasket under throttle body. Mas sensor. Can undo battery put back on truck runs great for fifty miles engine light comes on idles up and down, gets 5 mpg and reads lean bank one code. There's nothing else to replace that I know of. Help. Short term fuel reads 32.5 long term 0.0.

    Did you have to clear the code or it went away automatically?

    • @BigDog50001
      @BigDog50001  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I usually clear them but many times they will clear on their own after the problem is fixed (and the engine computer no longer detects the problem). Unfortunately some vehicle have to be cleared with a scan tool, they will not clear on their own.

    • @BigDog50001
      @BigDog50001  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      If the parts you are installing are quality parts and you are not having any other drivability issues, then I suspect a bad wire or connection. I would start by watching the O2 sensors on a scan tool and see what kind of activity they have. If no activity on scan tool then I would start tracing the wires from PCM back to sensor and find the issue. Heat, vibration and corrosion cause issues like this to wires.
