Universal motors run most efficiently on dc instead of ac because of the constant power to the rotor and stator windings which creates a higher powerfactor and a lot less heat.
By the way, try running it with low dc voltage by connecting one of the brushes in series with the stator windings. When it stops accelerating, put power to just the brushes and short circuit the stator wires and the motor goes super fast.

Did you modify the generator to generate 12v at over 30A? Because when I tried it with a washing machine motor, it generated well over 12v, about 2A and a pain in the hand upon self-excitation with rope rotation.

I think DC would be more efficient if you use a 12v battery to spin a universal motor and get ac output from the second motor as an inverter with the right circuit to filter the sine wave spikes atleast here in the US since its 120vac we run our electronics

Unversal motors need more efficiency of current to run at a speed thus we know that DC energy has less voltage and high current supply so dc power supply is good efficient for unversal motors

hey mister i get as much out as i put in. want to be important. a flashlight with stun gun could be used to power a pole that is a street light for a job. you just make the motor turn then excite the alternator and the light stays on all night. why do you put 220 in and only make 220 out of it. it is a waste of time and energy.
