Hey guys, how's it going? Chris Connor here and welcome to another episode of filmmaker reacts for my channel. Seat back, relax and lets study the filmmaking techniques as well as talk about what visual effects can be pulled of within after effects! his week we are taking a look at valorant duelists cinematic trailer!

Actually he didn't respawn as in a gameplay feature sense. He can really revive himself in universe, as long as he activate his ultimate ability (as he did in 03:38) before dying. After all, his name is Phoenix xD

The Girl with the White Hair is called Jett. She is Korean and just saying to Phoenix at the end. 'Aww Im Sorry' xD She is too really bitchy and badass in game

in the trailer the female character Jett says, "미안해서 어쩌나" in Korean she's just saying "Sorry, but what can I do" while she smirks and kind of shrugs because Phoenix, the guy, is on the enemy team so she has to take him out. she's not actually sorry though - it's essentially " Sorry, not sorry"
Well, in here, "Sorry, no hard feelings." is more natural.
Chris, technically he's not respawning, Phoenix has an ultimate ability where it gives him basically a second life.
More like ability to get knifed

Hey Chris, if you do more VALORANT reactions/breakdowns, I suggest you enable subtitles - Riot provides manual translations for all of the very multilingual characters, including both their dialog and the text from the splash frames that appear on-screen
I get goosebumbs everytime i watch this animation. Even when you rewind it and show the parts again, it still happens. Its such an epic animation, and i really hope they make tons more.

The "Retake" Cinematic is episode 2. And just like other games and sports have seasons, Valorant has Episodes that last 6 months (instead of maybe a year in other games). So I assume they're releasing one cinematic episode every 6 months too

Great reaction as always! Valorant is an competetive shooter made by Riot (the same people behind League of Legends!) The characters are Phoenix (the guy) and Jett (the badass chick). They did episode two called "Retake" and it introduces new character into the game, it has really good action scene in it so you should check this one out! Also I would recommend checking out Tales of Runeterra "Don't Mess With Yordles" and “Double-Double Cross” they are amaizing.

Valorant really nailed at the sound design rather than fixing the van -1 and other vanguard related errors, they actually made everything good
Connor is basically every gamer anime nerd transformed into shredded extrovert.
Just to let you know, The guy's name is "Pheonix" and the girl's name is "Jett." And the guy did not respawn, instead, when he says "I got this." he is using his superpower (as you know, he has fire superpowers*) so when he activates the power if he died, while the superpower is activated, he'll turn into flames and respawn back at the location he activated the superpower. basically like that. Jett's superpower is wind, she controls the flying knives with the wind, she can jump really high to the roof with a wind boost, and at the last scene she dashed through the flames with a wind boost too. well, basically like that.

I've recently binge watched your entire Filmmaker Reacts series. I personally loved your reaction to Astartes and the League of Legends cinematics/music videos. I have two recommendations
1) The Total War Warhammer 3 trailer. A fantasy warhammer game to contrast the sci-fi of Astartes
2) The League of Legends Warriors music video (the 2020 version).
I think you'll be interested in both of these

Thank you for reacting to this cinematic ! And allow me to explain what the Valorant universe is all about.
This story takes place in 2050 supposedly, so around 30 years ahead of us. Even in the cinematic, the location that this fight happens is in Venice, Italy. A map in the game also is located in this exact same spot, but this time you're on top of this floating island in the sky. In that time, they have found this mysterious stone called "Radianite." This event came to be known as "First Light."
Following that shortly, humans began to be affected by this rock and gained supernatural powers that you only ever see in comic books, and they are referred to as "Radiants." The characters that you have seen in this cinematic (Phoenix is the guy and Jett is the girl) are Radiants. Phoenix controls fire and Jett controls wind.
A company known as Kingdom wants to collect all the Radianite for themselves (the objective's a little unclear for me but I'm assuming it's something like world domination lol). The VALORANT Protocol prevents them from doing so.

i've been waiting for this
It has csgo gun play but instead of utility you buy abilities. There are two halfs with 12 round in each. Attackers want to plant the spike/bomb while defenders want to stop them from planting or defuse it. There is an economy in this game. You get money each round with kills and wins getting you more money. You use the money to buy abilities(based on the character you choose) and guns and armour. You loose your money after the first half. First team to get 13 won rounds wins the game. Also the teams are made of 5 players.

Quick lore
The girl, Jett is a south korean agent and she is a Radiant (people who have powers through the radianite) and her power is the wind and she is carrying the spike (bomb). Phoenix is a brittish agent and also a Radiant. There are also agents who aren't radiants but have cool arsenals, like powered Bow, Toxins/poison gasses, Hacker, bionic arm, and etc...

Hey Chris I know it's been a while since you've done the elder scrolls online reaction but I definitely recommend going back and watching the three fates cinematic supercut. It is amazing!
Also for this animation the fire looks very cool and realistic because it is animated on 3s(every 3 frames is one frame of animation for the fire)

Everything the agents did there are abilities in the game.
I think they did use the flashback sequence just for them to use the wide/drone/establishing shot and connect to explosion. Otherwise, they can't connect that shot to the chasing part of Jett and Phoenix. Pretty interesting.

info about this cinematic and the game itself: The game is made by Riot Games and it's a first person shooter very similar to the most known counter strike but with a new near-future concept with better military tech and some magic powers to enhance combat. The cinematic shows Phoenix the black guy from England and Jett the white hair lady from South Korea as enemies fighting for a specific item. They make a really good work showcasing the powers of both of them. You can actually do all that stuff in game. I recommend you watch "Retake" the season 2 cinematic, with the same characters and some extra ones.

There is more one Valorant Cinematic, you should watch it too: RETAKE // Episode 2 Cinematic - VALORANT
And the game is basicaly CSGO with powers and the graphics is more cartoon and colorful, but if you like CSGO gameplay probably you will like Valorant gameplay aswell. In the game there are a lot of different agents, the ones in this cinematic are Jett (Korean - she moves fast, throws kunais, kinda ninja) and Phoenix (English - He can revive himself with his ult and uses fire powers). The mechanics of the powers in this cinematic are pretty faithful to the powers in game, but there are not long runs like that, as it is more tactical and needs slow movements sometimes (but it can also be very fast during the gunplay and power usage).
Btw that wasn't respawn, it was his ultimate ability. If you know how the Mythical Bird: Phoenix works. It dies and then it's reborn. The same is Phoenix in the game, it's his ultimate ability that he uses so that he is reborn in case he gets "killed".
I highly recommend to watch the cinematic "Fortress" from Dima Fedotov. You definetly won't be disappointed.

"Retake" is the second cinematic for Valorant, but you should also take a look at "Terror In Demacia". It's a cinematic for the character Fiddlesticks from League of Legends. More on the spooky side, but I'm interested in what you think about how they decided to implement that video. Fair warning- the ending scared the hell out of me xD

Valorant is First Person Shooter, like CSGO. In the cinematic the Character that use fire is Phoenix, hi use three of his abilities: First his molotov, then his wall of fire and finally his ultimate that makes him inmortal for a few seconds, after wich he respawn in the site that he used it. He can heal himsel with his molly and his wall. You should try the game is really fun. And to understand the story you need to know all the maps in game.

Valorant is the RiotGames (who made league of legends) take on a shooter comparable to Counterstrike (CSGO), it is free to play, you find it by searching for "play Valorant", and this series of trailers shows characters actually using their ingame abilities.
Jet is the Korean girl, has wind powers. she can do aerial dashes, throw daggers, and all that good stuff, in addition to using guns.
Phoenix, the guy, has fire powers, able to prep an in-combat revive point (other characters cannot respawn in a match) and use a wall of fire to obscure the battlefield to control an area.
the bag they were fighting over is the "Plant", essentially the objective is to plant it in a place, while the opposing team tries to deny you, using the character you chose's unique abilities to try and gain some advantage, normally in the form of vision denial or area control.

Back with another request. The Destiny House of Wolves trailer is a short but extremely well made cinematic that I think you would enjoy watching. Even if you don't put it in a video I high recommend it just for a good watch as its only like 1 and half long.
The dude is british and is called Phoenix (therefore the revive, like a phoenix) The woman is korean (she spoke korean) and called Jett, she is fast in game like in this cinematic.

In the first one he didn’t respawn, his ultimate is to create a fire ball on the ground where he comes back to life(hence that name Phoenix)
