I'm not very mechanically experienced, so I've watched every TH-cam vid I could find on this repair - this is the best video. Clearly showing what you're doing, indicating the socket sizes needed for each part, and you show that it can be done without complicating things like taking out the headlight/bumper if you can fit your hands. Thank you!! About to do this by myself tomorrow on my beloved 2008, Chippy

Best tutorial ... wish all of them were like this one, especially with sizes, no extra talking, straight to the point and easy to follow angles.

Did this myself after watching the video.
Some tips : get long needle nose pliers and those hose pliers seen in the video at a local auto part store.
Secondly, put the screws into the pump housing before putting it down into place because it’s hard to get hands down into the work area to put them in by hand, you’d need magnetic sockets or something similar if not.
I had the P0A93 Code and this replacement fixed it on my 08.

    Thanks man!
For anyone who needs to replace the water pump, is exactly how described in the video. Make sure you have a sufficient long drill bit extension... 10mm and 12mm is enough, and take extra care with the power cables: make some pressure on the top and them start to swing until its realesed
God bless you, very helpful 🙏

Thanks for making this vid, by far the best one I’ve seen! Of all the steps, the hardest one for me was removing the bracket bolt that attaches to the body. A power ratchet was a huge time saver. Also, I sprayed silicone grease on the hoses to make it easier to install the hose clamps

One note for anyone who might try this. If you get the aftermarket upgraded Dorman replacement pump, it is about 50% taller than the OEM part. While I was able to pull the old pump out without too much trouble, getting the new one down through that tight space proved to be absolutely impossible. I ended up pulling the bumper and headlight assembly and installing the new pump through the headlight opening. Made a somewhat simple job a lot more cumbersome… Thankfully the stud that broke off in the video was fine on my car… 😁

Neat trick how you put the cover on blocking the bleeder screw and then didn’t mention that we would have to immediately take it off to get to the bleeder screw

So what do you do about that broken bolt? Just curious. Preparing to do this job myself. Thanks for the vid!

Thanks for the video! Will you need to add and/or bleed coolant after doing this?

I put a new pump in and it is making a noise, sounds like somethings not right. Do you know what it might be? Thanks a lot for this very helpful video.

@TRQ Thanks for the video! While replacing the pump does the coolant drain completely or partially?

Is there a fuse/relay to check before installing the pump? I've been trying to locate the fuse/relay that powers the inverter coolant pump.

I just changed my Inverter Coolant pump and the check engine lights went off.
But just a week later, after minimal driving, the check engine light came back on but this time it says its my Air/Fuel Ratio Sensor Bank 2 Sensor 1.
Could this have anything to do with the Inverter Coolant Pump? Maybe its poor quality? The prices for the pump range anywhere from 25 to 150 dollars.....
Could I have got Coolant where it shouldnt have been, like the electric wires of the plug that clips into the coolant pump??

Why did you have to get to the battery in the back to install the pump in the front?

Why does this pump need to be changed? The problem with my prius is that the Air conditioning is cooling at 30-40 km/h driving speed but not cooling when the car is stationary.
