Simply put, this song is a masterpiece performed by master musicians, songwriters, and vocalist. They are, in my humble opinion, the gold standard in metal music today.
This song is an epic masterpiece and it's melodic storytelling at its finest. BTW, the LIVE album "Memorial for the Warrior Souls" (MFTWS) was released towards the end of last month and is now available on blu-ray/DVD. I've got it and it's just a phenomenal experience watching it. A documentary of their "Judgement Day" tour (which MFTWS is the Tokyo leg of that tour) is packaged together as a separate DVD in that LIVE LP. In the documentary, it showed Nuno Bettencourt attending the MFTWS show and showering the ladies with praise at backstage after the concert. He called the ladies "amazing" (and Haruna "incredible") and he thoroughly enjoyed the show. The way he said it was like he needed to urgently rush off to another engagement but he chose to stay instead. Nuno was visibly impressed, so perhaps a collab in the future ? 😉

There have been so many great bands over the past years like Iron Maiden, Metallica, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd etc. & even at present like Band Maid, Nemophila, The Warning , Nightwish etc. but LOVEBITES IS ON ANOTHER LEVEL & A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN, THE BAR. IMHO as an avid Rock & Metal music lover for the past 5 decades. I always enjoy your wonderful reactions. There are many reasons why I like LOVEBITES, but the main reason is the quality of their songs. Asami tends to draw attention to her high notes, but she is also good at mid- and low-range. She can make low notes resonate even in the midst of a loud band performance. I think her wide vocal range leads to great composition. The fact that this magnificent song, Edge Of The Wold, is included in their first album released in 2017 speaks to the high potential they have had since their debut.

there is 2 songs almost unknown from Lovebites. because they never played them live nor made any MV. but you can find the Audio version on TH-cam. I love them both as all songs from them, but my favorite from the two is "Dystopia Symphony". and second one is "Paranoia". Dystopia Symphony is particularly amazing.
For Teguila John, I have played guitar for hobby over 40+ years. I can relate everything you have feel and commented at Lovebites. Not only they technical abilities but all they made for song writing and so on. Not any band can make continually songs that are top notch to listen repeatedly. For me, the first song was Shadowmaker and the rapid howl was ready. Afterword i have listened mostly of Lovebites. As I'm sure you know, Lovebites just finished their initial visit to the US. They played in very small venues which were sold out of course. Hopefully, they will be back soon with a larger tour.
Yes, same for European tour before, small venues but big emotions and great experience, went to their live in Paris. Fortunately they could be exposed in huge festivals such as Hellfest.
Great reaction again guys. ❤🤟 For all their incredibly amazing solos that they both pull off in every song this solo by Miyako in the first part is really one of my favourites. As you said, the soul was in there! In the section that feels like a reimagining of Deep Purple’s Child In Time they stand still like warriors and Asami is slowly lifting her arms always gets me. I don’t often talk about lyrics but there’s such a strong message in this.
I was thinking whether it was only me hearing homage to "Child in Time" in this one! :D LOVEBITES are so good as composers incorporating those fleeting phrases or variations that tie them in tight with history of Rock, then immediately going their own way. The moment is long enough for you to go: "What? YES!" and then you are carried onward. Here, I always feel it would be almost fitting (and warranted by the song's message) if Asami broke into the iconic Ian Gillan screams! \m/ Of course, it is great that they did not go this far - they had those screams already echo in my head at the onset of that classic pounding break. The visuals were also extremely well done here; outstanding.

I did comment when you put this up but it seems to have disappeared. It was just the usual Lovebites comments...EPIC!, WOW!, that piano and guitar...that loooooooooong note...Fami's smile as she casually shreds her bass...Haruna, Haruna, the unstoppable drum engine...etc, etc. I suppose I could have just written "Perfection. Again." as that would cover it all.
Great review. I was finally able to see them live in Atlanta and it was an awesome show. Hopefully the American shows encourage them to come back in the future. My favorite band of all time.

Total agreement on all you say about Asami's amazing vocals, M&M's perfect guitar playing and Haruna's drumming... but a big shout-out here to Fami for all the crazy stuff she is NOT playing in this song, even though we are well aware of all the extravagant playing she is capable of. This song, however, demands a rock-steady bass foundation and Fami delivers exactly that, rather than wanting to show off her crazy skills. That display of maturity would suit a fair number of musicians who are considerably older!

It's hard to believe that The Little Big Engine Haruna is only 4'9, but can easily play as well as anyone, and better than most. To me personally I think she's probably the best drummer out there today, I don't know if you've seen this yet but here's a link to Haruna's drum cam from the UK/Europe tour. Memorial For The Warrior Souls is available on DVD/Blu Ray although you may have to buy it from Japan as I did. The DVD is region 2, which works OK for me in the UK, but probably the Blu Ray is a better choice in the US if you have a player. Victor seem not to be very good at making the videos available outside of the home market, but we are all hoping that will change as Lovebites become better known around the world. All 3 E songs Edge of the World/Empty Daydream/ Epilogue all start with piano like ballads the only one that remains a ballad all the way through is Epilogue most versions I have seen are 2 songs Epilogue-Don't bite the Dust (a faster paced song)

I don't know of any band that have released so many full live recordings (7 or 8 to date I think) compared to full studio albums (4 to date). But I am grateful that they have as they are mesmerizing live. After their performance at Tokyo Garden Theatre, this month, I'll be surprised if we don't get another live release within the year.🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
This is why Lovebites is my favorite band, period! They melt your face, blow your mind with Metal then take you by surprise with such beautiful ballads like this. She do a stop 8 bars to early in the solos, and Midori was like "hell no" for a sec. The funny thing is that it,s sounded nearly better then the original......
Awesome! To be fair, you can find them doing some mistakes here and there, mostly in the earlier Live DVD's. Mistakes do happen and nobody is perfect, but these ladies certainly try! 🤘🐺🔥
Edge of the World from Five of a Kind show is even better, check that out... Queen Miyako kills it here. She has that Gary Moore sound that makes it so beautiful, powerful, with soul and emotion. Love them all but Miya is really special, Chopin of Metal...Transitions here are amazing. They already came to America, first to Atlanta then to Dallas where me and my friend went to go see them live, then they had two shows in California (LA and San Fran). They announced last week they are going to a music festival in Mexico City with other bands like WASP and Lizzy Borden.

I can almost garuntee that if Miyako every decided to actually do a master class on the guitar she would have to either do it as a recorded session you pay for or do the almost typical japanese thing and set up a lottery for people to actually get to listen to her teach it in person. It’s so nice to meet and talk with people who have the same taste in music all day while waiting. Many of them flew in from all parts of the U.S., and I also met guys who flew from Japan and Brazil. Many of them have already seen other Japanese bands like Band-Maid, Nemophila, Hanabie, etc., in the U.S., and some even flew to Japan to see them and other bands. I met a gentleman who saw Band-Maid, Unlucky Morpheus, and others in Japan, and we both discovered that we had attended the same events in Japan at the Lovebites concert in the U.S. I’ve seen Lovebites several times in Japan prior to this. In terms of their performance, they were just as good as in Japan, despite the fact that they had some setup issues with the rental equipment and Haruna had a small drum kit with a single bass drum. Hopefully, they’ll come closer to where you live next time. I can assure you that you have something to really look forward to❣️🤘

I always enjoy your wonderful reactions. There are many reasons why I like LOVEBITES, but the main reason is the quality of their songs. Asami tends to draw attention to her high notes, but she is also good at mid- and low-range. She can make low notes resonate even in the midst of a loud band performance. I think her wide vocal range leads to great composition.
The fact that this magnificent song, Edge Of The Wold, is included in their first album released in 2017 speaks to the high potential they have had since their debut.

there is 2 songs almost unknown from Lovebites. because they never played them live nor made any MV. but you can find the Audio version on TH-cam. I love them both as all songs from them, but my favorite from the two is "Dystopia Symphony". and second one is "Paranoia". Dystopia Symphony is particularly amazing.

I have played guitar for hobby over 40+ years. I can relate everything you have feel and commented at Lovebites.
Not only they technical abilities but all they made for song writing and so on. Not any band can make continually songs that are top notch to listen repeatedly.
For me, the first song was Shadowmaker and the rapid howl was ready. Afterword i have listened mostly of Lovebites.

As I'm sure you know, Lovebites just finished their initial visit to the US. They played in very small venues which were sold out of course. Hopefully, they will be back soon with a larger tour.
Yes, same for European tour before, small venues but big emotions and great experience, went to their live in Paris. Fortunately they could be exposed in huge festivals such as Hellfest.

For all their incredibly amazing solos that they both pull off in every song this solo by Miyako in the first part is really one of my favourites. As you said, the soul was in there!
In the section that feels like a reimagining of Deep Purple’s Child In Time they stand still like warriors and Asami is slowly lifting her arms always gets me.

LOVEBITES are so good as composers incorporating those fleeting phrases or variations that tie them in tight with history of Rock, then immediately going their own way. The moment is long enough for you to go: "What? YES!" and then you are carried onward. Here, I always feel it would be almost fitting (and warranted by the song's message) if Asami broke into the iconic Ian Gillan screams! \m/ Of course, it is great that they did not go this far - they had those screams already echo in my head at the onset of that classic pounding break. The visuals were also extremely well done here; outstanding.

I did comment when you put this up but it seems to have disappeared. It was just the usual Lovebites comments...EPIC!, WOW!, that piano and guitar...that loooooooooong note...Fami's smile as she casually shreds her bass...Haruna, Haruna, the unstoppable drum engine...etc, etc. I suppose I could have just written "Perfection. Again." as that would cover it all.

Total agreement on all you say about Asami's amazing vocals, M&M's perfect guitar playing and Haruna's drumming... but a big shout-out here to Fami for all the crazy stuff she is NOT playing in this song, even though we are well aware of all the extravagant playing she is capable of. This song, however, demands a rock-steady bass foundation and Fami delivers exactly that, rather than wanting to show off her crazy skills. That display of maturity would suit a fair number of musicians who are considerably older!

It's hard to believe that The Little Big Engine Haruna is only 4'9, but can easily play as well as anyone, and better than most. To me personally I think she's probably the best drummer out there today, I don't know if you've seen this yet but here's a link to Haruna's drum cam from the UK/Europe tour. I saw them in London in July and I can tell you, they really are that good. My love and respect to everyone in the band 💯. A genuine super group of virtuoso musicians. Asami composes also, often times with Mao, and Asami is the primary lyricist. Midori has composed also and so has Haruna!!! LOVEBITES, the BEST METAL BAND OUT THERE 2DAY!!!!

Memorial For The Warrior Souls is available on DVD/Blu Ray although you may have to buy it from Japan as I did. The DVD is region 2, which works OK for me in the UK, but probably the Blu Ray is a better choice in the US if you have a player. Victor seem not to be very good at making the videos available outside of the home market, but we are all hoping that will change as Lovebites become better known around the world.

All 3 E songs Edge of the World/Empty Daydream/ Epilogue all start with piano like ballads the only one that remains a ballad all the way through is Epilogue most versions I have seen are 2 songs Epilogue-Don't bite the Dust (a faster paced song)

Always enjoy your reactions to LOVEBITES. Yes the Memorial for the Warrior Souls is available on DVD/BR. I don't know of any band that have released so many full live recordings (7 or 8 to date I think) compared to full studio albums (4 to date). But I am grateful that they have as they are mesmerizing live. After their performance at Tokyo Garden Theatre, this month, I'll be surprised if we don't get another live release within the year.🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

This is why Lovebites is my favorite band, period! They melt your face, blow your mind with Metal then take you by surprise with such beautiful ballads like this. This song was composed by Mao, Asami add her touch, Miyako her classical way of playing on both keys and guitar. And yes, like 90% of all their songs is composed by Miyako.

I can almost garuntee that if Miyako every decided to actually do a master class on the guitar she would have to either do it as a recorded session you pay for or do the almost typical japanese thing and set up a lottery for people to actually get to listen to her teach it in person. She has a very unique sound and def has an old metal soul

It’s so nice to meet and talk with people who have the same taste in music all day while waiting. Many of them flew in from all parts of the U.S., and I also met guys who flew from Japan and Brazil. Many of them have already seen other Japanese bands like Band-Maid, Nemophila, Hanabie, etc., in the U.S., and some even flew to Japan to see them and other bands. I met a gentleman who saw Band-Maid, Unlucky Morpheus, and others in Japan, and we both discovered that we had attended the same events in Japan at the Lovebites concert in the U.S. I’ve seen Lovebites several times in Japan prior to this. In terms of their performance, they were just as good as in Japan, despite the fact that they had some setup issues with the rental equipment and Haruna had a small drum kit with a single bass drum. Hopefully, they’ll come closer to where you live next time. I can assure you that you have something to really look forward to❣️🤘
I believe it! We may wind up going to Japan to see them. It's about time I go back ..Ive spent months at a time there teaching English to small children. Plan to return soon hopefully scheduled around a Lovebites concert!
