About Captain of Industry:
Captain of Industry is a colony and factory simulation game. Your journey will start with a small crew of survivors on an abandoned island. If you do things right, you'll work your way up towards a self-sufficient colony and will play an important part in the region's industry. But first, in order to survive, you will need to mine raw materials, grow food, build factories, manufacture products, construct vehicles, research new technologies, explore your surroundings, and trade with other islands. If you are successful, you can even start a space program and build rockets!
2 Useful things to know:
1. you can toggle recipeies to show in x/60second, its the "show /60" toggle that shows on recipie selection e.g. 10:07 it will make your life a lot easier to work out later on
2. Dont worry about rocks -> sand conversion, you'll get some rocks just from digging out coal/iron/copper etc so it's good to have it to process but tech up a bit and you can just dig sand
Yeah early on i even set up a dedicated "dirt mine" to just excavate dirt, to get to the rock layer, to feed my concrete line. The rock from mining isnt enough if you focus on the ore in the middle.
@@Baleur later on, when you start to recycle 70-90% of iron, copper and glass,
your smelters will produce almost no slug cause they smelt scrap,
and your mining operations will be almost stopped cause you dont really need that much ore.
so no slug and rock as byproducts..

@@Baleur Early on I have an excavator and two trucks going around the map flattening terrain, building ramps, burying pipes, etc and they provide the extra rock I need. I actually use slag and rock on a single mixed belt in my concrete plant since I don't get quite enough slag just from smelting, so if one recipe stops the other kicks in. Almost all the producers in this game have mixed recipes on by default which IMO is a nudge from the devs to lean into that, they'll always buffer enough of each separate ingredient to run each recipe once

For the crops, switch the schedule so that when one field is growing the other has a rest and vice versa. If you do that so there is always one or two fields growing and the other 2 resting you have year roudn production.

Ground water depletes and replenishes. As long as you don't mass pump it out, it should stay at 100%. But it is technically possible to mine out the water. Where as oil deposit just depletes permanently.
pay attention to crafting time because it's not the same like satisfactory where every thing is item per minute
or one item per t in Factorio
you can make land off on the sides of your island with your waste and rock and such. Plus sand is near by as well so you can just dig that out and save you some power. Also focus on your ship, so you can find the oil rig in the world map so you don't get screwed with your diesel production.
Kibs, Balancers can prioritize outputs and inputs so you can make a relief output by prioritizing your slag output towards the cement slab line and leave a non prioritzed output for overflow loose bin with export priority P1... BTW love your vids!
So, you can't build farms on any non-dirt surface. So filling in that hole with garbage is just as bad as leaving it as a hole.
Irrigated farms can have water delivered to them instead of relying on rain.
have you looked into the Retaining walls? They are like 4-5 tall walls that can be used to hold back the ground or whatever you are dumping confining it all to a set area.
One thing you are going to have a bit of an issue with, farms can't go on top of trash or sand so if you want a farm in a spot it needs to be flat dirt.
Also I suggest that you are going to want a lot of farms, you are going to want to irrigate them and You also might want to set things up so anything you grow at a farm gets sent to a general storage facility of some sort and then go to where it is used from there. That way you can change your fields to grow crops in any combination or volume you want to adjust to your consumption rate changes over time as you aquire more seed varieties and recipes.

21:10 yeah lets not do the smart thing, lets instead have all mining-assigned trucks drive halfway across the entire map just to empty dirt xD
I'm liking the potential of this game. And it's even nicer to watch someone meticulous play it.
You can use the unity tool and pause tool and u can mass quick build or quick unpause!
This is looking like quite the advancement of the base, nice work Mr. Kibz.
When you were setting up your concrete production and comparing the recipes I was nearly screaming to please put on the 60s checkbox, since you were comparing 20s and 40s recipes. Luckily you did just that at around minute 10 of the video. Hooray!!!
Two little sidenotes to help future Kibz:
- I've already mentioned this in the previous video: A farm needs to be built on DIRT. Right now you are filling up a hole in the ground with all kinds of material. If even one little square of this isnt dirt (and I can tell it isnt, lol) you wont be able to build a farm there
- When placing buildings, you can press F to orient the intakes and outputs. I noticed in your concrete setup that all the water was facing the same way. If you press F you can change it so two machines face an input like this on the inside. This holds true for most machines, give it a try. Its great!
Groundwater can run out. It gets replenished by rain, but not by much.
Not sure if someone said it, but Unity has a hot key "U". Press "U" and click a building to quick build or boost it, or drag a box to quick build/boost and entire build area. You can also do this for quick dismantle.

wow, it is the first time i see someone uses expensive load balancers to actually load balance in CoI))
unlike satisfactory, resources are limited here, conveyer belts and balancers use energy.
so the best survival strategy in a long run is to build as compact and cheap as possible)
simple overflow scheme with minimum belts works just fine
Tips for beginner
1. Explore oil and coal mine on the map (with ship). You will need a lot of these, so easiest way is to deliver them with ships
2. Make long straing shore to build docks. Don`t dig holes in fields, you will need them to build farms. Leave much free space, try to spread production chains all over the island
3. Make enought space to build houses (they need to be in one block, about 20 houses will be needed in lategame)
4. Easiest way to increase demand on iron/diesel is to explore map with ship and to make research. Build several labs. Without high demand all the warehouses will be full and every production line will stop
5. Store many food and diesel.
6. Don`t make too much same production lines. You wouldn't need too much demand.

Dump the trash in the ocean and when it fills up, build on it 😉
I'm pretty sure the water table depletes over time so rain water is more useful than you think!

Kibs! The belts are stackable. Just turn off the magnet. Press "r". And do not use load balancers use splitters which divide the amount on the belt by 2
FYI you can dump trash into the ocean to make new land.
I love how simple bouncers are in this game. Very easy to use

Friendly tip - make 10 concrete mixers. And don't bother crushing gravel into sand, just mine the sand and store it in a container.

May want to try on Admiral difficulty as other settings make the game way too easy. The tech tree will make a lot more sense too.
I have the game and this map has barely any oil, there is the deposit we saw if the previous video and a deposit somewhere on the right top corner in the forest, this is all the oil you get for the starter island so you have to quickly get some oil rig.
Can't wait to see kibitz face when he finds out you need dirt in order to farm.

@@TheSpeedOfC Think about it like this. Several Meteors crash into the city. The start of the end some would call it. The only remmenets left are industrious workers who only know how to automate, stranded on there now islands. There.

You don't need to have a mine tower to designate a dumping site.
Compared to Nilaus, kibitz feels like pure chaos :D
you know with waste you can cover the ocean ?? for example, to make a perfectly smooth port.
Keep in mind you have limited space so dump all your solid wastes like trash or rock into the ocean to make more usable space. Side Note farms can only be made on top of dirt.
If this dude was president irl I highly bet that the earth would turn into a walle type situation

Be cool if someone made a game like this or satisfactory that streamlined the ratio counting. Sitting there trying to figure out perfect ratios isnt fun
this game is very difficult, everything is limited, coal, iron, limestone, copper, oil, everything in this game ends, it's basically a race against time, even with recycling and everything else, its late game is still difficult, where the Production chains are super tense complex.
The secret is to do everything using conveyor belts, if you make the mistake of wanting to make a modular base with each factory with its own stock, you lose the game.
Love what your doing here Kibz! Keep up the great content.

This seems like the best solution, no lost space, more new space. And somehow doesn't cause water pollution.

A rustic version of satisfactory?
automation is broken. I cant build anything as my facilities have all shutdown as soon as I hook up belts they all shutdown am I missing something? Do I need balancers or something because my machines are sitting idle and not doing anything
