I agree. If you look at how many post apocalyptic projects that are being rushed right now, it’s mind boggling. There’s a push for 2028-2030. And with all the talk of apophis coming in 2029, I’m torn if it’s going to be natural or manmade cataclysm, considering the current state of the world. We are living in crazy times, that’s for sure
~ Nowadays it doesn't seem to matter how globally tragic a situation can become, the news will always dumb it down for the general public to take it as a joke.
THAT means lava is getting a lot closer to the surface. Yet they claim there WON'T be a volcanic eruption? Is anyone else besides me calling *bullshit* on that claim?
No, it’s not, fortunately. Hydrothermal explosions are caused when shallow interconnected reservoirs of fluids with temperatures at or near the boiling point underlie thermal fields. These fluids can rapidly transition to steam if the pressure suddenly drops. Since vapor molecules take up much more space than liquid molecules, the transition to steam results in significant expansion, which causes it to blow up. It is not a result of magma moving towards the surface, just hot water changing pressure. Biscuit Basin did this in 2009 as well. Being that Yellowstone is a dormant supervolcano, it would be incredibly unlikely to see an eruption in or anywhere close to our lifetime. The United States Geological Survey already reported that all caldera activity was completely normal as well. I hope this eases your anxiety a little bit :)

Nobody was hurt, and we will know well (likely _years)_ in advance when it is going to erupt. The real "fools" are those gambling by establishing farms and ranches in the northwest, putting down roots in a place they might have to evacuate next year; Even then, the odds of it happening in our lifetime are still very low. You face much higher risk by crossing the street in a major city, and within the park itself wildlife poses a bigger risk to humans than any amount of volcanic activity. Don't be an idiot.
Yellowstone isn’t technically an active volcano, it’s dormant. All of the activity there is just because of the hot water underground. Hydrothermal explosions are very uncommon, so there’s little to no risk visiting Yellowstone as long as you stay on the boardwalk and don’t approach the wildlife.
