Michael Eisner, former Disney CEO and founder of the Tornante company, joins CNBC's "Closing Bell" to discuss the streaming industry and entertainment landscape.
Sorry, but that's just not true. Michael Eisner nearly ruined Disney and chased out top talent. At one point he even wanted to fire Iger. There's a reason there was a shareholder revolt against this guy. Read Disney War and I doubt you'll be singing his praises.
@@Chiggs Yes, but within the 80's to 90's, he certainly had a hand in creating the Disney Renaissance, saving the company from financial ruin. It was only after Frank Well's passing that things began to go awry fast for him.
@@roseoris297this was when he was directionless and he had no number 2 guy to guide him. He only said Nemo would fail because of his disdain over Pixar shopping to other studios. This was a 100% ego thing. The man needed Frank Wells.
I'd be terrified to stand in Disney's way. All their acquisitions so far are very impressive and the stock is massively undervalued if it all plays out the way it should.
Michael Eisner should come back to Disney after Bob Iger officially retires after his two-year contract expires. He could lead the company again and I don't know why did he stepped down from his CEO position before handing the CEO title to Bob Iger.
You have to give him his roses for how he led the company for the most part until Frank Wells died. Iger just buys other studios and makes them create their content for them that can often be really forced.
"Lets talk about the employees and wealth inequality." "The lesser who don't impact the company like Bob just don't deserve better pay. Let's move on..." "Now how about pompy. socca." "Now you're talkn about the meat!"
His former Paramount boss and Mr. Burns inspiration Barry Diller has long been someone who Eisner has never been able to overpower. One advantage for Diller has been his decision to long maintain a low profile by not holding a fair share of interviews.
Will M that’s because Dreamworks (which made shrek) was founded by Kratzenberg who was Eisner’s former protege. They had a falling out after Eisner didn’t give him Frank Wells job.
The problem is not only new content, there is too much mediocre new content, made in haste because money flowed in from investors eager to fund so-called streaming ...so content has to be absorbing well written something new to say, and remote flicking bored audience must sit up and want to know the visual content on screen.
If it wasn’t for Eisner Disney wouldn’t be around today. He, along with Roy Disney and Frank Wells saved the Walt Disney Company
I agree with you and Michael Eisner is supportive of Bob Iger as CEO to Disney. Nevertheless, Bob Iger is stepping down from his Disney CEO position.

but didn't roy disney not want Michael Eisner
@@prismstar438 he also said he wouldn't have left if bob iger wasn't the next CEO
Recently watched 'The Imagineering Story' on Disney+ and I think Eisner was an incredible CEO.
Definitely gets discredited because of how DCA opened
This guy was a far superior CEO and Bob iger
Bob chapeck could never 😂
He totally told Blockbuster to buy Netflix.
He also wrote a memo to the board believing that Finding Nemo would fail.

I think Roy Disney (nephew of Walt) with the help of his friends on the board of directors forced Eisner to stand down
He look amazing for 78

He’s smart!
I like the NBC golf 🎉 channel!
12:05 Hot woman!
Disney needs Micheal Eisner and to get rid of Iger and his supporters, aka wokesters.
He’s been smoking a lot of weed I can tell
Walt Disney would be rolling over in his grave if he knew that there was a jew running his company.
Rubber face
A true capitalist genius
He actually cared.
His biggest mistake was letting Kasenburg go. But he actually cared about Disney and a lot of hits were made under him
I know a few people who've met Eisner, they have all said he's a really nice laid back guy.
not when he was in charge of Disney at least in the early 2000s
Apparently the character Lord Farquhar in Shrek is based off of him
