  • Coffey (Michael Clarke Duncan) tells Paul (Tom Hanks) that he has been through enough psychical experience with humanity’s cruelty and that he is ready to die.
"I'm tired of all the pain I feel and hear in the world every day." This is a must see movie for any generation.
What is The Green Mile about?

A deeper look into the story's characters and events in The Green Mile reveal that it is actually laden with religious symbolism, most of them related to the life of Jesus Christ: bit.ly/2kejaGx

I didn’t get those bonds and when I did go to school I was picked on terribly for being physically disabled. I don’t have friends. 99% of my time is spent alone. I have my dog and the human interaction I do get is my immediate family. I don’t have any buddies. And the few I have had over the years didn’t treat me like a friend. And if the answer is no I cannot answer/yes I will lose sleep, is this a necessary good that goes against the grain of societies beliefs?" Every conversation, every action, every decision in my life for 30 years has centered on this, fought for this, and almost died for this a few more times than I probably should have. I am not perfect, but before God, myself, and those around me, there will be no question of what I see as right and wrong. "Sparrow in the rain" is a very specific comparison.
Sparrows in The Bible are the ones God sees and knows when they die (according to Jesus).
“Five sparrows are sold for only two pennies, and God does not forget any of them"
And if one was in the rain, it would be exposed to the Holy Spirit, who comes in rain.

"I'm tired, boss. Tired of being on the road, lonely as a sparrow in the rain. Tired of not ever having me a buddy to be with, or tell me where we's coming from or going to, or why. Mostly I'm tired of people being ugly to each other. I'm tired of all the pain I feel and hear in the world everyday. There's too much of it. It's like pieces of glass in my head all the time. Can you understand?"

Wow...what an incredible movie scene. Not many movies make me cry but this one. This one gets me every time. The acting in this movie is extraordinary. It’s as if they knew he didn’t kill the girls but he wanted to die because he couldn’t save everyone he wanted. Rest In Piece Micheal Clarke Duncan ❤️

I think deep down we all feel a bit like John. Tired of hate and cruelty towards eachother. Wanting it all to go away.
I come to these movies again and again because no matter where your from, what you believe, and who you are: We can all acknowledge that the world is too cruel and hateful.

It’s sad how the people in this world are still ugly to each other. This is what I love about The Green Mile is that it teaches lessons about not to discriminate someone no matter your color, gender or whatever the case may be. We need to start loving more!

I can identify a great deal with John Coffey unavoidably feeling too much pain and ugliness in the world. How that easily influences his miraculous power to heal is the most timeless food for thought from The Green Mile. R.I.P., Michael Clarke Duncan.

Could you imagine having such a powerful gift to help people? To help everybody? To help everyone see that some being upstairs cares and looks out of all of us with basically undeniable miracles? And then still be rejected by the people you love and so desperately want to help?
Seeing it from the views of Jesus is heartbreaking. Yes, Christianity has its flaws...but only through men using it for their own earthly agendas over the last 2000 years. At its core, it is utterly selfless and pure and only wishes the best for everybody.
