Eric Schmidt puts it very sweetly. In other words, the world has become a big stadium and we are in the final watching to see who will win the trophy. And when the nonsense is over, we will congratulate the winner and live happily ever after.

She should have had more respect. Title of book. Mic issues and not muting. Respect Eric.

Interesting. He releases a new book called GENESIS and Google releases a new AI physic engine called GENESIS. Any connection?

Eric Schmidt seeing the writing on the wall. The idea that you can somehow call yourself a "free" democratic country then resort to protectionism is disgraceful and more importantly will not work. As of today, most of the advanced models are from China bar a few in language (LLMs) and that will definitely change. The US is already behind in AI and the gap will only grow and that even with the US sucking all the global talent to their shores until the Dollar collapses & Civil War kicks in that is. You only have to see the changes made in 2024, staggering improvements by China. The biggest losers as usual will be the Europeans but then again that was always the case as they tend to let their mostly unelected politicians get away with anything.

There will be a quantum leap in human consciousness. The development of AI can no longer be stopped and will revolutionise the world. Everything that is happening in the world today will force all countries in the world, without exception, to live as peaceful neighbours!

Which models? It's simply not true.
Why is protectionism a problem? China is not democratic so you can do whatever the hell you wanna do.

Good points. However, it is fight between two imperialisms - US/ West vs. Chinese. Words like democracy, socialisms are just facade / cover for selfish goals !

The U.S. should be recruiting top scientists from around the world, and give them work visas. Everyone in the world wants to live in California, and the gating factor in technological growth is Chief Software Architects. The more of them, the more high paying tech jobs for Americans, and the better chance of beating China in the A.I. race.

Well, first we should try to understand which kind of democracy wins over authoritarian regimes. Because the imposed democracy of America, as the word implies, it seems, to me, very authoritarian.
Democracy that wins over autocracy must not be an excuse to just create a conflict or destabilize a region of the world because some countries are not aligned with America.
Even though I believe that democracy does not exist anymore.

Also: the founders of Google, Nvidia and Tesla were all immigrants. (That’s three of the seven most valuable companies in the world)
    More please.

The premise of weakness is inaccurate. Considering warfare at this juncture would be a gross underestimation of the paramount importance of peace transcending artificial geopolitical boundaries. It is imperative that individuals cultivate the ability to observe their thoughts objectively rather than identifying with them. While the capabilities of AI may exceed the comprehension of some, it fundamentally represents a collective intelligence analogous to the holographic principle. Furthermore, it constitutes a singularity impervious to expansion or contraction.

Transmutation of Metals: The most famous alchemical pursuit was the transmutation of base metals like lead into precious metals like gold. This was believed to be achievable through a mysterious substance known as the Philosopher's Stone.
Will AI, Man on Mars, EVs, Fusion Power,Neuralink, Bitcoin, Quantum Computing etc turn out the same…..

Another money making machine for some for sure.
But persomally I have seen no benefit to me as an individual so far.
It may end up, of course, costing me one way or the other.
Inflation is upon us and debt is mountainous.
It is estimated that the cost of putting a man on Mars for example, will be around $60Trillion.
One must ask who will benefit and who will pay for this grand adventure?
The bottom line is that Joe Public will have been suckered well and truly.
