@@05EVORS I agree! If you lookup the story Suzuki kept beating the Kawaski Zx14 with the same engine! I think for three years in a row but the only way Kawaski would beat the Busa was with more CC's displacement. So frankly they cheated! anyone can build a bigger engine to go faster!
Been riding the Busa for a few years now. Best bike I ever bought. The size and weight that you don't like make it feel so solid and safe when your at top speed. No it's not a road racer. More like a sport/touring bike that kicks ass.

I took a Hayabusa, GSX-R1000, and GSX-R600 last year at a Suzuki demo event. The demo lead was getting on it pretty good, like 100 mph + blasts. So I definitely dipped the foot into the water. The Busa is very linear power. As you said, the power near 100 and up is kind of ridiculous. The bike is very smooth. It feels very solid and planted, but is nible enough for what it is.
The GSX-R1000 (2016) felt even quicker sub 100 and had an explosive upper end that makes you rethink how fast a bike can be. Had a very meaty mid-range for the superbike class, regardless of top end power comparison.
The GSX-R600 is super lightweight, pretty quick, but takes a lot of revs and noise to get really going. I appreciate torque more.
Also rode the GSX-S models, the Vstroms, the Burgman, the Supermoto, the M109R, the Bandit 1250S. Let's just say it wasn't a very busy demo event so why not? I think I liked the GSX-S1000 the most in spite of it's poor fueling programming (evidently mostly fixed for 2017).
The Bandit was a revelation. I didn't think I'd like it, but when you get 80 ft-lb torque at the wheel under 3,000 rpm (tuned)? What's not to like? Wide ratio transmission allows good MPG and torque everywhere (even moreso than the Hayabusa characteristics), shifting isn't all that necessary to really get a kick in the seat. It's heavy but doesn't feel it like the Hayabusa feels it and the torque eliminates any concern about weight. It's stump-pulling turbine smooth torque that never complains no matter how slow the motor is turning.

Hayabusa bro! I've been a fan of them for over a decade, ever since the Ghost-Rider days. As a 6'6" 300lb man, they're still a perfect bike for me.

I had 10 wonderful years in the alps with a Hayabusa... Yes she is heavy and longer wheel base and sometimes not the ideal bike for crazy tight hairpin alpine passes. But it's an excellent sport touring motorcycle. Put some different handlebars on and can ride comfortably for 12 hours.
The faster you go the more stable she is. If you want to do long rides comfortably and have power at high elevations, this is an amazing bike! I have a video of some alpine twisties and I was always able to keep up with the 1000's. Sometimes the lighter bikes were faster on the really tight corners, but on the longer ones, I could fly past and my lines were very very precise thanks to the long wheel base.
Different handlebars make the world of difference!

The Sticks Series... that comment was in reference to Kawasaki and Suzuki battling each other with new bikes which was around 2000 to 2010. It was off the chain doing those years and I had a ZX9R. Suzuk came out with the Busa and then Kawi answered with the ZX12R (which I also had before buying the ZX14R). Bikers were always fusing on which on was the fastest, but the stink kind of die cause Suzuk did not come out with anything new except the re-mod 1000 (which is a beast also).

Hey Dan, you shoudl see if WOW has a zx14 to take out on review. Now that you have ridden the Busa you can give your opinion on these two bikes, as you know there is a lot on controversy to what one is better. "Better" is a matter of opinion of coarse, but some people think yours matters! lol. I own a zx14 and fucking love it. I have ridden the Busa and still decided on the Zx14, more comfortable is the big difference. You will find the turning on the zx14 is closer to the zx10r u have than the Busa would be.
These are just my thoughts after riding the two.

I love my busa i actually started out on on a 2000 busa never rod anything on two wheels other then a bicycle before and I'm still kicking today and iv been to the tail a few times with a okay time I can't complain they are awesome but it's like anything else in life my opinion everyone has one.

EXCELLENT VIDEO! Pros and cons. I'm a 2020 Hayabusa owner since early September 2020. 2nd bike. First was a Honda CBR 600 4Fi. All the pros and cons, spot on. I'm 6'0" 250 lbs. so the bike is easy to handle for me but she's still a fat bitch at almost 600 lbs. wet. Turns are easy as long as they aren't sharp. I'm found myself slowing way down to handle those sharper ones. But the power is absolutely incredible with a 250 lbs. rider on it. I haven't even come close to opening her up and she's still impressed. Not a racer, not a dragster, just love riding on two wheels. Love the video BUSABRO!

Good honest review, I have owned GSXR 1000's my whole life BUT I am now 32 years old and this bike keeps looking like a better option every year that goes by. I broke my back in the military and the seating position seems like it would be way better for my spine. With reviews like this I might end up having to pick one up. BUT I will hang onto my K8! Facts straight, Zx12 had problems in Europe they were gonna boycott the bike due to its performance, it certainly had the development and power to be on top . Unfortunately the company sold more bikes in Europe than the USA. Got toned down a bit , but still ran strong. Too bad we didn’t see the real version, had one loved it after riding a lot of the new bikes I still regret selling it!

Dan, you should check out Tallulah Falls Gorge in Georgia. There's a scenic byway not far from it either, I just got back from a trip there and it was 10/10.

Ugly? Kinda. Aerodynamic? Yes. The whole point of the busa is that its is VERY slippery so it can reach high speeds. Its designed to go fast, not look fast
The history is that the busa was created to compete with the Honda blackbird in the 90's. The busa came out in 99 and topped the blackbird. The ZX-14 came much later.

No bike in existence has held anywhere near the legendary prowess of the Hayabusa. It's the most modified, most reliable, most bulletproof, most favored bike for all sorts of modification and high HP applications. Regardless of what it is stock, it's still a 1340cc big bore monster and still has the lowest drag coefficient of bikes, not wasting its power bashing the wind at speed. And it's pretty inexpensive new these days, way less money than superbikes.

Cant forget about the zx12r, came well before the 14 and was competitor with the busa. That was always the talk about who was fasted production bike between busa and zx12r. Could never really get a straight answer, both claimed 200mph from the factory. You could watch many comparison videos of one being quicker than the other and vice versa. But kawasaki decided that higher displacement was the answer so along came the 14. I owned a 2000 zx12r unrestricted and man what a rocket, bunch of mods stretched a little and lowered. Got rid of it because it was too much all the time lol. Hope to have another one day.
