-Imagine getting Kidnapped at 6 years old
-Imagine being tortured as a Child
    - Imagine Being Starved if you don't win a duel
-Imagine living in isolation secluded from friends and family for 10 years
    - Imagine finally getting out of this depression making a best friend and seeing your friend die to your hands

That wasn't the future, that happened 6 months after the Ark Cradle. Yusei turns on the Fortune program just before his final duel with Jack. There are also hints that Yusei doesn't feel like he deserved his position as a scientist. Lazar tries to talk him into staying but tells him his future is in his hands. We do know he decides to stay in New Domino City as the bond that connected his friends to back home, but we don't know if kept that career path or what happens to him in the eight year time skip at the beginning of episode 154.

Not just the ending... the entire duel had a very somber tone to it. The ceremonial duels of the past series usually had a ton of fanfare and generally had hopeful tones... not this one. And Playmaker didn’t even deliver the final blow, like most Yugioh endings would’ve done. The duel ended on Ai’s turn so technically, Ai simply destroyed himself. It almost seems like he was the main character all along...
And idk if anyone noted this, but I think the final duel actually took place on the ruined Cyberse world, which is even more depressing

when people say yusaku is op because he never lost a duel, but he lost more than any other protagonist. Lost his childhood, lost his innocence, and a bit of trusting anything, lost his best friend due to the fact his friend believed if he lived, yusaku would die. Honestly Vrains is nothing but losses in the end

  • @AxetheRoad
    @AxetheRoad 4 ปีที่แล้ว +268

It really is a depressing ending.
He just been into so much.
I think is even worst since Ai is basically the ONLY individual who has told Yusaku that he loved him. For someone socially awkward and lonley as Yusaku, I think that's the reason he decided to search for Ai in the end. I really can relate to Yusaku in many ways. Especially in this one. He has always felt lonley, even in season 1 he mentions to Revolver he had no friends (since he didn't even consider Kusanagi a friend). Since the Lost case, he has been all alone until Kusagani, but they were partners qnd only socialized because of the revenge. Ai was actually the first individual to see Yusaku as a friend and refer to him like it (Despite Yusaku's denial). Which I can understand since he hasn't experienced it before. Having someone who cares about you. The shock about Ai will to die for Yusaku is something he never could thought about. Someone who actually cared for him and accepted him. Yusaku doesn't know about these feelings and emotions since he never thought about it. We understand love and care because we have friends, family, and other people. But Yusaku never had those, and loosing the only individual that gave everything (his love, care and support. Ultimately his own life) so he could live could cause such a deep damage to Yusaku. I would like an in-depth analysis from Yusaku's character. He might look "flat" to a lot of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Fandom. But I argue that he seems like this because he is the most realistic from all.
OMG sorry for the long comment. I been in some similar situations and been in theraphy for depression and anxiety. I know to a certain degree how it feels.

Something a lot of people may have missed is that last scene's significance. Creating an ignis is not easy. What I believe is that Yusaku did a lost incident on himself in those 3 months and that's how Ai was remade, that's how I see it. Ai only started as an eye since it was only 3 months and not 6 like the lost incident, and Yusaku reappearing in the vrains could be him activating the Ai ignis protocol to rebuild him or collecting more data material. All about a duelist who couldn't let go of the past and didn't move on from Ai's death. It's unfortunate that his development became like this, not being able to grow from his experiences.

@@YugiohEverything VRAINS has a lot of Greek mythology thrown inside the story.
Specifically Prometheus. Reading it made me think that maybe the VRAINS ending isn't as interpretational as we thought. It is situational who is who and it would take hours to explain this, but from what I've read, in a symbolic way what stays in the box of Pandora is Hope, Yusaku's suffering was ended by Ai. It further suggests that Ai becomes a constellation in heaven in the afterlife, which fits imo very well with the ending we got. Looking closer, it seems to be likely that what we see at the end is indeed a bunch of star constellations.

If the theory that season 3 was cut short due to behind the scenes issues is correct (and it most likely is) then that original ending most likely was scrapped.

The only thing that I disliked about the ending was Ai returning because:
The reason why the final duel started was because Ai runned the simulations were he saw the world in chaos and Yusaku dying so he made a plan were he will be hated by everyone so they will try to kill him, in the end Yusaku defeated him so it happened.
But then in the last seconds of the episode Ai came back, making his plan and the final duel kinda pointless because that mean he will have to die again (at least because that's what he believes is better for everyone ).
I think the writters made that last appearance to make the ending more hopeful but for me that ignored Ai's will

I still think Yusaku/Playmaker's Link Sense is telling him Ai is alive and instead of desperation, Yusaku is determined to find Ai.
Link Sense was hinted at very heavily and name dropped in season 1, we had it mostly explained in season 2, then season 3 doesn't even bring it back up, but I believe we all know better.
In season 2 Ai explained that he and Yusaku are connected by Link Sense, and if Ai isn't dead then we can assume then they are still connected and Yusaku is using that connection to look for Ai.

"There are so many stories where some brave hero gives their life to save the day. The good guys win, the survivors all cheer, and everyone lives happily ever after. But the hero... never gets to see that ending. They'll never know if their sacrifice made a difference. They'll never really know if the day was saved. In the end, they just have to have faith."

It's not uncommon to isolate yourself after a big loss in your life. As someone who has lost 3 pets in my life, I can tell you that it took me about 2 months to be able to think about them without fighting back tears. So with that, it is possible that yusaku was using that time to finally accept the loss. I would also like to throw my theory about the final shot of vrains into the ring. I don't believe that the Ai that we saw at the end was the one that yusaku defeated, but the original Ai from the start of the show. When Ai sacrificed himself to destroy the neuron link, that was the original, and the Ai that was known in season 3 was the back up he created. I believe that over those 3 months that as Link Vrains expanded, it created more data to allow the original Ai to recreate himself from the neuron link. Yusaku could have come to the same conclusion, and decided that it would best if he find Ai to stop even more issues down the road. That being said, without more info on what really happened at the end, we will likely never know if the past is anything to go by

I finally got time to watch this video :) I totally agree with you on this one. I thought the ending for Yusaku was very sad and that's why I really wanted Ai to stay alive. I couldn't really see how Yusaku could get over Ai's death especially when Ai has been the one helping him get better (from giving him a purpose in season 1 to being a very close friend / family member in season 2) so I had been hoping until the end that Ai stayed alive. I thought that if they killed Ai, I would hate the ending but I actually liked the last episode a lot... but it really made me feel sad for Yusaku.
The last scene is very confusing for me too... The theory I like best is that somehow part of Ai's data survived and Yusaku has sensed him through his Link Sense and that's what he would have been up to for three months: looking for Ai.
Now, how did Ai survive is an entire other matter... What's interesting is that Ai is in his eyeball form from the first episode. So the data that survived must be from that time when he was hiding from the Hanoi, right? Maybe Ai had already attempted to make backups of him at that time (but then thought it would be useless because he wasn't complete or he just forgot about them...). It could also be Yusaku trying to use data he had left of Ai from his dueldisk? But nobody else knew about the eyeball shape...
Another weird possibility is that Yusaku and Ai are linked together is some way and that Ai's data could be recreated from Playmaker's avatar...??

I also think its a very appropriate ending for Playmaker. Here is a guy who did nothing wrong, who never lost a duel, and accomplished most of his goals in taking down the Knights and stopping Bohman. Here at the end, Playmaker failed. He may have won the duel, but he lost AI whom he was trying to save. He has FINALLY experienced a loss in life. He finally failed at a goal. So the future will indicate how he will handle that loss. And the ending sort of indicates that he is going to take action to correct that loss, and not feel sorry for himself.

  • @Lotus-Raythy
    @Lotus-Raythy 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Your videos are always awesome and I enjoy them, but this one got me chills! How come that Yu-gi-oh duel monsters have a happy ending it is the saddest ending, in my opinion, Atem dies at the age of 16, lost his memories, lived a life full of betrayals, and after thousands of years, he came to inhabit a boys body, helps him grow, finish old grudges, feel the pain of dying again and finally his own best friend sends him back to the afterlife to die a third time! We never knew his own actual feelings during the final duel, he was shaking without Yugi besides him, he was not himself at all, it’s actually a happy ending for everyone because of his sacrifice, he deserves a life where lives again like Isis and Kaiba.
I agree with you on Gx, Zexal, and ark v, though I don’t like ark v
I agree with you to an extent concerning 5d’s it is indeed ambiguous and kind of happy, but Yusei was left alone in neo domino and never had the chance to be with Aki as far as we know, but it is absolutely better than losing them or die like Bruno.
Now finally our topic, VRAINS, it has a similar elements from the original series, everyone got a happy ending because of Yusaku sacrificing his own happiness, he would really have left Ai to do whatever he wants without regaining anyone consciousness, but he chose to fight for the greater good, knowing his character, those three month would have changed his life, my theory is Yusaku returning to Vrains has to do with Ai icon popping out, he might have chosen to work alone, analyzing, searching, rebuilding data of Ai from around the web, and when finally succeeding he came back to collect Ai data himself opening a new future for the Ignis which could make him a hero or the worst villain in Vrains, so it’s kind of ambiguous and destructive more than sad, Yusaku actually has the most reasonable motivations to destroy the world that destroyed everything dear to him, and that makes him stands besides Bakura.

For judai, he went on a journey on his own tone to help bridge between duel spirits and humans with the help of yubel with him. That's as good as a ending we can get from a hero who is always ALWAYS relied on to solve everything. He can finally do things at his pace and being a hero just like how he admires to be one.
For yusei, he will just continue to protect and do whatever he can to protect the city he loves where he meets his friends, his dad had once destroyed to continue atone for (maybe?) and also for the others to have a home to Come back to, I guess.
For yusaku, I believe he spent the whole 3 months alone to help recover ai and roboppi(likely) 's data back or at least recover then enough since it only shows ai with one eye instead of his body. And he doesn't asl kusanagi for help cus his goal is already succeeded. He got his brother back and healing. No need to drag him into something else yusaku wants to do. Or at least that's how I think it happened. The ending playmaker looks determined to me, and a moment later we saw ai booted up. So maybe he found the final thing he needs to do to bring ai back and webt back in rushing into link vrains to go get it.

When I saw the ending of Yu-Gi-Oh vrains I cried and also I think that ai is still alive because when you see the thing in 2020 and you see ai in a dark place

Yusei actually became a researcher. But I would like to have more of an definite ending for Vrains though since Ai appeared like that

I think the best idea( in my opinion) is that yugi (DSOD) and yusaku finally meet. I cant remember completely but i think i heard that i dont know who said that the time line of yugioh vrains goes 10 years from now. So its 2027 in yugioh. It would be a great idea that yugi and yusaku meet.Although i actually hope to see jaden and yusei because they are in that timeline.(i know their timeline is different from DSOD)

You know.. I wouldn't be shocked if Yusaku went the Madoka Rebellion route just to find A.I. But then again we do have Duel Links so who knows what will happen to Yusaku after more events unfold about the multiple dimensions co-existing.

yusaku is not that weak anymore to isolate himself for the loss of Ai, I think that it's most likely he've been doing something like recovering Ai program somehow, I still believe that because of the developement of link vrains and the existence of infinite possibilities can make sure that there's a way of Ai and his friends recovering and coexisting with humans or at least Ai if we suppose that Yusaku can recover his data through roboppi or his dueldisk data or even his solitis body, so we can see why revolver said that playmaker will return stronger than before

I see that many comments are frustrating from the end, and say frustrating theories, but I have to remind you that Ai tried all possibilities so as not to destroy the world because of him, but he did not succeed, but it was mentioned that he did not calculate what would happen if the playmaker emerged, and apparently during The duel wanted to back down, but he restrained himself in advance, that is, the last possibility is that if Ai plays the maker, that future will not be achieved, not because Ai may die, but because Yusaku understood him and may make him change, so I say that it is possible that Ai is alive thanks to an order It was done by Yusaku, and that Yusaku would not die if Ai remained alive as Ai believed, because the last duel is what will change all the possibilities that Ai saw, so there are no restrictions for Ai's return, so I believe that Ai is alive and not dead, and I hope that there will be a movie or series New to Yu-Gi-Oh Vrains
