    Lacking a crockpot - let alone a 1000 year old one - I tried it in the oven, 4 hours on 55C (last 30m on 60C). It was still raw on the inside, so I finished baking it in the pan. It tasted amazing, next time I will try 70C for 4 hours and report back!
    Edit: on advice of a colleague, I went for 80C for 4 hours in the oven and it came out perfect!

      Omg, putting a oven on for 4 hours. That's crazy expensive... Absolutely the freeze technique is the way to go. You flash fry thin slices of the meat in a pan with butter. Take it out of freezer 15 minutes beforehand to make it easier to cut.

    I could have been sponsored as a Kebab afficionado if I had a pound for every time I rolled out of a Glasgow pup in search of a large donner kebab.
    Fast forward 20 years and a long way from home just north of San Francisco. I decided ro try this recipie on the Glaswegian possilpark mafia............never have I witnessed such silence around a lunch table. If anyone is sitting on the fence reading through other recipeies....this is the dogs chortlies..absolutely delicous and replicates the kebab shop taste from home.

    It worked! I cooked 1 pound of lamb at 300•F (the highest temp on a slow cooker) in an American conventional oven the same way you prepared it and it turned out JUICY!
    Greetings from Houston, TX. I’ve been watching FB for years and have only made one comment and this will be my second. You are now going to be my first subscription, thank you!
    I did exactly as you said and the small changes I made follows...
    1 pound 80/20 ground lamb
    1 tp paprika (regular, I love paprika)
    1/4 heaping tp oregano
    1/4 heaping tp thyme
    1/4 heaping tp basil
    1 1/2 tp garlic powder
    1 1/2 tp onion powder (onion powder)
    1/2 tp cracked black pepper
    2 tp kosher salt (maybe a half less next time).
    Wrapped in foil and put on a low-sided 17”x13” aluminum cookie sheet and cooked at 300•F for 1 hour to an internal temp of 155-160 (because I planned on stir frying.)
    The finished product was simply amazing but I reserved one TB of the fat to stir fry some chops in a non-stick skillet for a minute or two to get a nice char.
    All of your recipes look phenomenal and it’s going to take me a while to work through them, but on to the Shepard’s and Cottage pies!!!

      You know nothing about kebabs that is for sure. A kebab is only crisp because they reheat the meat. A kebab should not be crispy that is basically dried out and over cooked food. You can also have the kebab too close to the heat, so it over cooks.

What I didn't do with the lard was melt it it, but took a while to squeeze all the lumps into the mix. Years ago i ran across a recipe for doner and it involved wrapping it in foil and then wrapping a brick in foil and putting the brick on top of the doner meat while it cooked. Supposedly it made it more solid? But you recipe doesnt seem to need to done. I like that and i like that it is done in a crockpot. I would like to try this. I have trouble chewing hard stuff and the last time i tried a doner it was too dense and dry. It was sliced too thick too which made it difficult for me to chew. I really need to get to a dentist. Im missing out on too many things that i love to eat.

    Just one question here - can you actually use a slow cooker without any liquid? As you seem to have done so I'm assuming it isn't the same sort of thing as with, say a kettle element...

    Thanks for the video. Do you know what kind of internal temperature it should be for it to be at it's best? I ask because slow cookers can cook very differently to each other on a 'high' setting.

    • @Cookingforthemissus
      @Cookingforthemissus  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Rapid Swgoh 54oc or 130f will give you the best result. At the time of making this video I had no idea that high temp varies from cooker to cooker. It was only after I found that out lol. That’s why I now do full research before I make a video 😂

      @@Cookingforthemissus Lol. Thanks for the reply. I should have been clearer though, I meant the internal temperature of the doner it's self with a meat thermometer? (not the oven/slow cooker).

    • @Cookingforthemissus
      @Cookingforthemissus  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Oh I see, the safe temperature for lamb mince is 60oc, this ensures all bacteria is killed. But in my opinion I live life on the edge and aim for the 54oc. But so I don’t get sued go for 60oc lol
