My very first backpacking trip was Yellow River back in 2005 and I just finished up a quick weekend trip. Great place!

Backbone State Park is another good one in Iowa.

My sis and I went to yellow river recently and hiked 9 miles. It was great! I’d like to go back and do an overnight.
We are in SW Wisconsin so upper Iowa isn’t too far of a drive (1.5 hrs from my house to yellow river)

Really nice video, brother. That looked like a great time and really good rack of ribs. I've seen a couple of videos for the Yellow River State Forest over the last few months and it's on my list of places to go. I live in eastern NE so that would be a decent day's drive, but it looks well worth the drive. Good luck on your challenging hike. Looking forward to your next video!

Have you hiked centennial trail and the black hills. Closer for you and I love that area.

Looks gorgeous! My dad (who also grew up in Rushford) would always tell us the joke about the book, the yellow river, by I.P Daily everytime we'd cross the Wisconsin River on our way to visit my grandparents 😂.

Camp Terry Hennessey is one of the best campsites at YRSF. I have seen pictures of timber rattlesnakes sunning themselves out at the rock outcropping you stood on.
Dang, now you made me want to get back up there really bad!!!

Nice, I have a spot high above the Hudson river I like to camp just for the sounds. MetroNorth commuter trains all night back and forth all night, huge sounds of freight trains every hour or so, and barges on the river. Great sleeping.

That syrup and butter shot was pretty great hah. Nice to see some cooked meals. Gets me motivated to use this zip lock bag of bannock bread mix I've been sitting on.

One of my favorite places to hike to and stay is a place my friend dodge, named "cripple camp'. It's along the st Croix River up around rush city, and easy for him to get to with his arm braces. Lots of good food, fishing, and nobody around.

Wow, what a great video. Superb filming of the Maple syrup dredged pancakes, fire building process.
    Thanks for sharing.
Challenging, rewarding, breathtaking beauty of 2,000 miles of hiking- come to the Adirondacks. Some day, love to see you over here.
    Take care.
