I grew up in San Antonio, went to college in Austin, watched this show as it aired from Day 1. Very thankful you guys are doing this podcast. In my opinion, Matt Saracen is one of the best characters ever written, and it is a crime Zach was not nominated for an Emmy for his performance in the episode where his dad died. Looking forward to hearing all your stories and perspectives.

I first watched the show in the middle of every night while i was up w/ my first newborn. I just re-watched and she's almost 16... the nuances of having my own high schooler and remembering the first time I watched is just crazy. This is such a magnificently scripted show - and you are all so brilliant in it. I LOVE this podcast!!!

I loved this show, probably tied for my all time favorite. I never watched it when it was on TV when it was on air, I felt like I never heard about it. Randomly came across it one day, watched a couple episodes. Went out and bought the full DVD set right after. It's a masterpiece. Texas Forever
I am so damn excited to hear all the behind the scenes and discussions regarding FNL. I watched from the beginning and had a connection with this show that I hadn't felt with anything else. I felt like I was watching people I knew and cared about. It felt so familiar. It's such a testament to the actors and writers on this show.

This was amazing... loved this show.. I was affected by this show because this show gave me my first experience acting. I was upgraded from 2 year extra to my first costar role, that role inspired me to start training acting and book many other acting roles over last 14 years,, thanks FNL 👌🏿🙏🏿
Loved the insights that we got from this & can't wait to go through all the episodes with you guys! SUCH a big fan of you guys! I think I battle Mae with biggest Friday Night fan, and the coolest thing about this show has been rewatching it through the years. When I first watched it as it aired, I was in high school, and could relate to the high school kids. Now watching it as a wife and mother, I relate to Tammy and her life, and find myself even looking for the important moments she shared with her family as a guide on how to approach hard topics with my daughters. I find myself thinking "what would Tammy do" getting through conflicts with my husband and kiddos. I don't know many shows that can be so relatable for that amount of time in someone's life!
A quick rundown of what happens in the episode before you start talking in depth about the episode would be helpful for those of us who haven't seen it in awhile.
Since it's such a great series and presumably you're a fan, why not do yourself a favor and rewatch each episode before listening to its corresponding pod? That's probably the best way to appreciate this podcast fully. You can also find plenty of episode guide recaps on the internet.

@smurfsquatch007 because they can do a quick 2 minute rundown of what happens. Every person who listens or watches these podcasts are not going to rewatch every episode. I'm aware of what I could do, but there's also something they can do as well for their listeners/watchers of the podcast.

I read the book about a month ago, then watched the movie. I bought the television series about a week ago. I'm in the middle of season 4. Great show. I'm not even a football fan.

Just got finished re-watching the series for the 6th or 7th time. Even taking Season 2's "Network Notes" into account, FNL is still an all time top show for me. Looking forward to this series!

I’m from Brazil and a big fan of the show. Here the show was not on TV, so we had to download it in torrent sites. I remeber staying up late after a new episode was aired in US waiting for someone to post it so we could watch as soon as possible. I also helped to insert portuguese subtitles in the episodes in some social network brazilian communities about FNL. So youngsters, believe me, Netflix and other streaming sites made things way easier 😂 Enjoy! Big fan of this podcast too, great idea! Much love for y’all

What great timing this is, I just restarted this series a couple days ago an I’m about halfway through season 1.
I just finished this series, thank you Netflix. I was so scared that it would not be able to be as good as the movie. Totally surpassed all my expectations. Can we have a spin off!?

Actually Scott Porter ends up as Mae Whitman’s character’s husband on the season finale of Parenthood, and Matt Lauria (Luke Cafferty) played Mae’s boyfriend on Parenthood as well. There were a few others who played small parts on either show I think.

I think one of the biggest draws of the show is how ahead of its time it was regarding race. Especially in the later seasons with Michael B Jordan. Can you get him on?
