The only RN warship to have black naming instead of red. It looks amazing by the way! I was on a Type 23 the other week, and this model looks as real as the one I was stood on!
@@archerry6457 I think it is to protect some of the sensors from getting damaged my downdraft from the helicopter by redirecting the air over them, this is just a guess, as I've never seen a duke class with them before
Bravo ... Piece of art that model! Thank you for the beautiful video dressed by nice music ..May I ask the types of glue you used on this model please? Thank you in advance...Keep on making art!
Beautifully done. Only one thing, the flag is incorrect. The White Ensign should be flown from the yardarm. The Union Flag is never flown at sea, only in harbour or at anchor, and only from the Jack staff at front of the ship.
Also, Monmouth flies a small black flag from the mainmast at all times as she is named after The Black Prince. Hence the black Duke's crown on the funnel and the name plate on the aft quarters. Fantastic representation of a T23.
Would you ever do a 1/700? id love to see someone do the uss cole hobby boss with the artist hobby upgrade set. I know you've done the arleigh burke, but the cole is a very special ship. Rest in peace to all the sailors who went down on her. With your skills, you could probably even do a diorama of how the ship looked after the attack. It will be the first boat I do I believe it deserves more recognition. Thanks for all your videos and hardwork
For added authenticity you need to carefully cut out 100s of holes in the hull and superstructure and then glue the the parts you cut out back in again to replicate the 100s of new plates inserted because of the excess corrosion found on her last refit.
Monmouth is the only RN vessel to carry her name in black as opposed to red due to the Dukedom of Monmouthshire being dissolved following the rebellion against King James II by the Duke of Monmouth. She also flies a black pennnant flag. Monmouth is the most decorated ship name in the entire RN. God save the Queen.
Actually, weathering, especially rust on Naval vessels is very hard to render. Unlike a merchant vessel with a crew of 10 or so, HMS Monmouth has a crew of 185. About 30-40 of which will be in the Deck Department, and who will be tasked with maintaining paint and preventing rust. The paint finish will scan blotchy, but, that's from all the new paint put over old. Also, Naval vessels are not that long between Port visits. And the Captain will want his ship to look good in port. Further, ships often return to dockside every 4-5 weeks to take on or offload various technical items. And paint and repairs will occur that frequently as well.

Amazing work ! It is nice to see a modern Royal Navy ship modelled so well. I would love to see more of your work.

I served on her for 8 years. My favourite ship.
it s a great ship, sad she's getting decommissioned in a few months
Michael, what are the curved structures on the hanger for? Some kind of radar shield/deflector?
In all honesty, I'm not sure?

Ah right thanks for the responses, chaps, I'll look a little harder. 👍👍
What a fantastic piece of model making. Just brilliant - loved watching it come together. Thanks and many congratulations.

Amazing work on the Black Duke! Beautiful ship and model
Nice build!... HMS Monmouth visited NZ.... thanks from down under 👍🇳🇿
“ All hands on deck” Another great model awesome detail ! 👍🇺🇸
I'm enjoying this build! Nice to see a modern day vessel.

I found out after I made it. It's my mistake. Thank you.
In this case, he was expressing like the sailor responsible for that flag change, just missed it and was jailed for such.
@@copoedpJailed for raising the wrong flag? The royal navy does not fuck around lol

Awesome video and brilliant workmanship
incredibly well built...wow
Thank you very much!
Love these videos! Keep them coming. Always learning new skills from you!
I am going to build the same kit. I would be very happy if it turns out about half as nice as yours. Well done!
Beautiful work!
you are really good! Really learnt a lot and corrected my mistakes
Much respect for your detail work, sir.

Apart from the lack of a white ensign and the Jack being in the wrong place (and only whilst docked), it's a superb build.
I made it all and found out that the flag was wrong. Thank you for pointing it out.
Excellent build. And I loved your choice of music👍
The white Ensign is mainly flown in that position, not the Union flag, but great model, wonderful detail.
A fine piece of work to be proud of thanks for the video . Regards Gav.
Thank you so much!
Amazing build good job 👍🏻
Fantastic work
A beautiful mpdel. I think the definition of us modellers is that we are person with to much free-time... ;-)

Very clean build. Clinical precision in assembling and painting. Did the kit not include propellers and rudders?
I didn't stick rudders and propellers on purpose to put it in the water.
@@studioblue_kr Indeed. I could appreciate that when I saw your subsequent video of an equally excellent diorama display.
Great built!
But i think i would have tried to put some clear material on the inner side of the Bridge. That would have put the dot on the i ;-)

Hi. Why do you mask using lots of small squares of tape, please?
I'd LOVE to get my hands on those CHAFF (SRBOC) launchers. The ones I got are not well molded. Any website you can send me to? GREAT job!

I'm guessing "distribute the sea" is "spray sea water" translated.
OH My mistake. Thank you
@@studioblue_kr ah I thought you'd maybe just used a translator or something. You'd use a hose and pump to distribute water though 👍 Great build too.👏
No, from the part he was putting on when he said "distribute by sea" he meant "replenishment at sea". It was a RAS winch.
