  • Join your host and 29-year Bona training and claims veteran, Todd Schutte, as he shares the scary details behind MORE “floors gone bad”; complete with crime scene evidence - the “rest of the story” - how these relate to the Bona Commandments (that’s why we follow them) - and possible resolutions to correct these horror shows! We all know that no matter how good the products; how good your skills, and how long your experience - sometimes things just go wrong (and sometimes it’s because of an issue with one or a combination of the above as well). So, when things do go South, how do we analyze the issue(s) and work our way through to solutions for our customer?

      Glad it was helpful, Truman's! We can always learn something from successes, but failures often bring expanded lessons that will really pay off in the long run.

    Too bad about that bleached out cherry floor. Where the carpet protected it, it's about the most beautiful floor I've ever seen. A real masterpiece, great job by the flooring guy.

      Hey there Cubbie Girl - Agreed! American Cherry is a beautiful wood and develops some great color as it ages; but does tend to be photochemically sensitive and can have dramatic effects when exposed to different levels of light (and heat from direct sunlight).

    Hello and thanks for your video!
    I have loose oak wood planks on my hardwood floor
    How would you stop the planks from moving? I did buy bona sealer and finish!!’

      Hi Isabelle - Too many possibilities to answer that question here. Best thing would be to call a Bona Certified Craftsman to come take a look at your floors - you can find one here: www.bona.com/en-us/homeowner/find-a-contractor/
      Best way to keep a hardwood floor stabile is to maintain a consistent level of humidity in the living environment. Wood is hygroscopic, meaning it will take on or release moisture in response to changes in relative humidity (over a long period of time). But your loose boards may also be due to subfloor issues and or installation issues and not necessarily changes in relative humidity - or a combination of these. So, have a true professional come take a look and hopefully they can point you in the best direction for a long term resolution. Hope that helps!

    So, we have a Bona certified professional flooring company doing our floors with Bona stain & extra matte finish and I’ve been reading that there an issue with water droplets, dog drool, spilled drinks on floors that have been topped with Bona and Bona has responded with the finish is not waterproof.
    This is concerning for us as we have dogs and kids. Is this a common problem with Bona finishes?

    • @BonaProfessional
      @BonaProfessional  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Brandy - We can appreciate your concerns, but your Bona stain/waterborne finish system should perform just fine with kids and dogs (as it has on some of the highest traffic commercial and residential floors around the world for the last forty years). While no floor finish is 100% waterproof (vapor can still permeate these films - and actually would really cause some problems if it wasn't permeable, locking moisture in and under the wood = mildew, mold, cupped floors, etc), anything spilled on top should not cause an issue if taken care of in a timely manner. The bigger issue with spills is when very staining product is left on the floor for a long period of time; and or when the liquid leaks down between any open seams and end joints, directly effecting the wood itself. I've got four kids and an 85lb Berniedoodle, and haven't had any spill issues with the floor in twenty years (only the dog indenting the wood when he's excited to go outside - but that's related to the hardness of the flooring species and has nothing to do with the finish used). Hope this info helps!

      Had Bona HD installed 2 months ago. Two male dogs visited and marked territory. The area was not noticed for a couple of hours, at most. This product is definitely a problem. Having contractor fix but I'm not happy as we have grandchildren that spill things and will need constant fixing. I'm working with contractor to come up with a solution.
