    I like the intro of the initial setup vs. the component drop.

      I thought I'd miss the component drop....but you are right. Im perfectly fine with the camera panning across the set up.

      I never liked the component drop. I feel a discomfort with the component drop since it increases entropy from a more ordered state. I much prefer the new way to see the components of the game (and it tells me more about the game).

      I haaaaaaaaate the component drop. Aside from the OCD anxiety triggers, it's also just slow and a waste of air time.

    Does seem like a nice open-world feeling kids game. I can imagine enjoying the feeling of getting to decide what to do and where to go, even if some of the choices are more straight forward as adults.

      The goal for us in the design and dev was to make it as enjoyable as possible for gamer parents while also keeping it accessible for the kids. I think we hit that mark, but only you can decide for yourself :)

      @@realdruidcitygames it does look like you found a good spot for it! If I had children, I would look into this. I know the size is a complaint to Tom, but also I can see how a child would love to get to explore a big ocean map. I am guessing many would find its size a real part of the charm!
      I sincerely hope this game does well for you all!

      @@bricelory9534 I think so! I can only judge based on my kids and they really love to lose themselves in the world. The art and the world that Tristam created for this game is incredibly warm and charming!

    I will agree the setup is better than the drop option. I like to see the game versus pieces all over the place; although, I must also agree the moving of the camera is a bit distracting from the game components. Not sure what the solution would be...just an observation. Regardless, great video as always.

      Probably have multiple cameras or set up shots separately and explain them shot by shot.

      I have an idea... just take a really high def close up photo of a group of pieces to highlight the game. Many times it is VERY hard to see the details on these game on these videos since most shots are wide shots. Just an idea if it is worth anything.

    Could you lay the island standees on their islands to preserve the art or would they move around too much?

    • @realdruidcitygames
      @realdruidcitygames 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can do that if you like for sure. It wouldn't effect gameplay at all.

    Ol' Tombo sure is stuck on the size of it. I would imagine kids getting excited that, if it's a large game board, I wouldn't want *all* out games that size, but a fun one with a cool map, sure.

    I really like the look of the game and at the low price point I think it’s a must try for our family. Some of the mechanics are obviously different but do you think this will be comparable to Creature Comforts in terms of audience?

    The camera moving over the game in the intro almost makes me seasick 😫 😆. But this is probably due to the fact I need new glasses 👓

      Its not just you - it was blurry, too. I think it might be the wrong camera for that effect.

    Age 6+ 🤔 the game looks very very nice, I like the Theme and design. But would it be funny for a big gamer family with teenager Kids? Or it is more a game for family with younger children?

    • @realdruidcitygames
      @realdruidcitygames 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      my kids are 7 and 11, they both very much enjoy it. Also, the design goal was to make the gameplay fun for "gamer parents" as well, so I think teens will enjoy it too.

    Seems pretty complicated for a 6 yr old (even the reading on the cards is beyond most kindergarteners). Too bad because I find most “kids” games too easy for my kids (haba and such) and wish there were more games for 5-8 yr olds who can think well, but who may not be advanced readers yet. Maybe it’s smoother to play than it seems from this description?

    • @tristamrossin7289
      @tristamrossin7289 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn't recommend that you give this game to a bunch of 6 year olds and leave them to it, but it's definitely accessible to that age. You can easily play with a little parental guidance without children becoming overwhelmed. It's also a great educational tool, learning to read the cards (Which generally have the same foundation and most are icon driven) Managing your cargo and movement and basic math skills, addition and subtraction of low numbers.

      @@tristamrossin7289 Thanks. I have 5 kids and the oldest is 9 so I like games that let the older 3 play together without too much disadvantage for the younger end. Maybe I’ll watch some more reviews or playthroughs to get a better sense of the game play. 👍🏼
