Nice work, Josh. I do have a couple of questions. 1. What oil 10w-30 or 5w-40 would you recommend in the 2021 Cummins HO. The truck is in Wyoming, but it is garaged 99% of the time. There is a debate as to what is the best oil for this engine these days with the hydraulic lifter issue. 2. If you were going to do a couple of banks upgrades to that engine. What would be the first two? Thanks!
5w40 for our climate. 10-30 is for warm climates like Florida. First upgrades I would do is the Banks monster ram. It keeps an air intake heater but eliminates the dreaded failure of the factory air heater grid causing engine failure. Second up get ease would be boost tubes. Let that Cummins breathe better. You’ll notice less turbo lag and lower egt’s
@Trukstuf Thanks. I've been running Amsoil full heavy-duty synthetic 5w-40 since the 3rd oil change. I'll keep that going every 6k. I'll look into the banks stuff. Thanks.
So you have a lot of experience wrenching, all these are upgrades I want to do to my truck. How easy would this be for a weekend warrior to do. Banks seems to have solid instructions. But overall can anyone do it in their garage
Any weekend warrior can handle these upgrades. Even the engine oil pan wasn’t hard. Just to show how easy it is I did the video in my garage with limited tools that I brought home from work. You can tackle these upgrades I’m sure. Have fun and let me know how it goes
