If your steering wheel get stiff or difficult to control when doing turning... Then “YES”, Basically my buddy right here that made the video just said it himself with in the video. Thanks for that spread of knowledge, we as humans in society are never to old to learn. What you say you back it up and define its process and with in the area. Ya forget the BEST part. Make sure ya smoke a fat as blunt, not no toothpick now I mean a decent amount of your fines Cannabis, Weed, Marijuana, blunt or back wood.
Great technique, Nathan. Also, I believe there's oil leaked out of the bushing too, I hear the OEM bushings are liquid filled vs any aftermarkets which are solid rubbers.
When I turn while driving I hear a pop and I can feel it on the driver under the floor board not too harsh but it's noticeable do you think something from that area is going bad? Like tie rod control arm etc.?
Hi I have a question please I hope you can answer this question have a BMW 330xi 2006 every time I go over a pothole no matter the size of it the whole front end of my car make a loud boom sound is that the upper control arms in the bushings please send somebody have expertise in this can you please get back to me
2001 E38 front wheels clunk when I turn left or right. I can move the tire a little bit when push it with my foot. Tie rods? I put it in the air and I can wiggle it at 3 and 9 o clock
Were the wheels on the ground when you did this? Couldn't really see in the video. Thanks for sharing your expertise. Always watch everyday something on your channel.
Hello, I have a 2008 x3 Si and I hit the curb the other day cause a car pulled out in front of me and I had to move out of the way or hit the other car. Both tires on the right side hit but the back tire hit so hard that it bent the control arm. I had the control arm replaced, normally I do this myself but had no time so had to take it to the shop. When they went to do the alignment they're telling me that the tie rod on the passengers side won't go in all the way and that the steering is off by about 4 mm. Is this related to me hitting the curb or just typical problem on older x 3's? If not what could cause this and how do I fix it? Do I need to replace the entire rack and pinion? They told me the tie rod was not cross threaded nor stripped out but something is keeping it from going all the way. Any advice? Thank you
Hi Nathan, i have a squeeking noise on my e39 from front wheels ony when temp goes below 10°C, only when i turn the car right and left, and esp when i want to move out, so many were guissing , yet no result, what could that be pls
MBD Business yes it does. My e60 had the same problem.. wore my tire down, and my steering wheel would shake really bad between 60-80mph. Also noticed my wheel had front and back play
Thank you Nathan, currently experiencing clunk from the front left when going through uneven bumpy roads, drop links were changed in order to eliminate the clunk and to refresh them but the clunk just got more pronounced?:/
next i would jack it up and check the bushings and ball joints for play, im 99% sure it need a set of control arms but you gotta make sure before you buy stuff you dont need
Ok Thank you for the prompt response. Another possibility I found would be this th-cam.com/video/OkIXZeVG4Vg/w-d-xo.html, are you familiar with many BMW 3 series F30 having steering rack issue? It is actually quite loud.
thumbs up for your efforts and educating us on these things. I'm late seeing this but it's been a great help working on my 2001 740i.
Ll
Seriously great video here that helped me understand the various parts I'm looking to replace. Glad to see you're still posting videos!

3 to 9 o clock play are the tie rods.
12 to 6 o clock play are the bushings.

+Dennis Canon Hello it was jacked up off the ground, i appreciate you watching the videos hopefully they are helpful.
At last a great video!
would this problem cause uneven wear on tires? I have uneven wear on inside front tires
Absolutely
So if I’m making left or right hand turns and hear significant clunking would it be my control arms ?
Wheel bearings
Lil late bht by rattle what do you mean?

Thank you
my tie rods seem to be loose very easy to move, control arm is solid, i will try to replace both tie rods tonight
+Mike Davis Search my channel i did a tie rod and alignment video a couple weeks ago, its a east job.
They make a new mono ball for these
Cool vid mate
when i drive over 60 mph i hear rattle and feel a vibration under the front end tie rod ends move very easily
+Mike Davis It could be the tires or time for control arm repacement
Nathan do you have a video on how DIY on a e39
+MrMrmayaguezpr I dont have a step by step diy up but yesterdays video is about the topic.
Thanks man!

Mine does that too. Please post your solution if you find one.
Strut mount
Excellent video
Does this wear affect alignment of the car to pull left?
MBD Business yes it does. My e60 had the same problem.. wore my tire down, and my steering wheel would shake really bad between 60-80mph. Also noticed my wheel had front and back play
thanks for the video
Does this video applies to E90 BMWs? You have great videos! keep it up man
The e90 is almost exactly the same
Thank you Nathan, currently experiencing clunk from the front left when going through uneven bumpy roads, drop links were changed in order to eliminate the clunk and to refresh them but the clunk just got more pronounced?:/
when the car is sitting on the ground take your foot and push back on the front tire and see if it rolls back
+Nathan's DIY Garage tried and all the car moves front and backwards like if it was rolling even with handbrake on.
next i would jack it up and check the bushings and ball joints for play, im 99% sure it need a set of control arms but you gotta make sure before you buy stuff you dont need
Can this be a reason of a thumping noise when my car goes over a bump ?
Yes the thrust arm bushing usually causes that noise
Ok Thank you for the prompt response. Another possibility I found would be this th-cam.com/video/OkIXZeVG4Vg/w-d-xo.html, are you familiar with many BMW 3 series F30 having steering rack issue? It is actually quite loud.
Cool. Thnx
... :( ... forgot the inner tie rods ... :)
