The RA was probably cd 1+2, happens a lot now that it's a good move. Having df1+2 be a universal RA input hurts for moves like this. I'm pretty sure you also can't input cd1+2 out of mist step. Obviously also sometimes happens with df1,df2
I'm pretty sure it used to be -14 so bear electric still wouldn't have been a punish even before the patch, which I bet knowing that could have made the nerves of getting clipped afterwards even worse
Bro your commentary reminds of me of situations when in anime/manga where the characters slow down time and they explain what happens as they execute their moves when they land or hit or win or lose. Lol. Keep it up man! Looking forward to more of this!
Watching your analysis videos is always so insightful and makes me want to play Tekken, even if I'm nowhere good even to actually apply 95% of what I see myself. It would be also be really neat to see more of these breakdowns for lesser played characters (like Claudio in your previous video!) such as Raven, Leroy, and Zafina.
also to keep in mind, i think since rangchu is so embedded in the jp scene, he must play keisuke quite regularly to practice. maybe a lot of player matchup stuff coming up from the shared history here
I like your funny words magic Tekken man. No but for real. These analysis videos are invaluable for people like me who have a background in a completely different genre of game and are trying to learn Tekken. I don't have my "vibrant" young mind anymore so it helps having stuff like this to lead me to the right path.
Nice video and great analysis. The stopping and rewinding interrupts the flow of the video, however, that’s where the learning of the game comes in. So I for one don’t mind it because I have learned so much from it. Thanks and keep the good content coming.
Agreed 100% about the analysis part. Keep doing it, the people who dislike the pausing are welcome to the vods. I don't see why you'd click on an analysis video and get upset that we pause and go in-depth on crucial moments in the matches.
That running stomp into rage art was the highlight of this top 8. One of those things you'll probably never see happen again unless someone's trying to imitate Keisuke
I love the rewinds with a closer look, beeing able to see those things that normally I never even realizer was there (like the bear ducking over and over)
Happy to say I love the way you do analysis and definitely don't think you rewind too much. If I wanted the match in real time I'd watch the vod, I'm here for you to break down what's actually happening
I love how consistent the top players in this game have been so far despite opinions to the contrary. I'm liking how they've done more to individualize each Mishima and give reward to that character specialty without just making them overwhelmingly strong. Looking forward to how they continue to refine them to get things just right. It's nice when Mishima's are a welcome sight to top 8's.
12:00 I believe that hellsweep is safe at minus 9 now. Keisuke got caught mashing. Good to see Kaz in top 8 though, hope he wins a tournament some day.
8:23 I never noticed it before but yeah Kaz is almost in a shrimp-postured full-squat for the cd1+2 start-up animation lmao. If your opponent hasn't labbed it/came across it much, it might be easy to mistake as a low attack startup animation. Especially since its so slow, you have the time to second guess your defensive option and end up eating it like shown.
He pressed a couple times while heavily negative and got blown up for it. The blocked low/high hellsweep is -9 on block, but he pushed a button after, and another instance where he's hit and forced crouch then tried to force a WS2
Fighting the bears is so polarizing that you end up second guessing your offense willingly to try and press the advantage. Bear players are often aware of this meta and I think that’s why it creates a lot of opportunities for them disrespect your attempts to pressure, which just adds to the mental stack. Great analysis! 😌
Nah, if I wanted to watch the match uninterrupted I would have watched back when the tournament happened, or close to it. I am here , watching this match now, cause I want to hear you explain each situation. If it's necessary to rewind to explain properly, so be it.
actually at 12:00 keisuke gets clipped by the electric not punished because after the latest patch the last hit of cd 4 4 is safe its just unfortunate he gets clipped anyway
Question: Why do combos only sometimes connect under the same circumstances? I play with Lars. why should I do 70 dmg combos to ensure it doesn't drop?
i've been playing Kazuya for a week now and i swear i use cd1+2 at least 8 times per round, every round that move is nasty, specially when you mix it up with ws3
Great video as always. Can I ask PhiDx, were you a teacher before Tekken? You seem to have a really easy methodical and engaging style of explaining things
Honestly I don’t mind you rewinding a lot because I like play by play explanations of what’s going on I’m currently stuck in red ranks so watching you helps watching slow tekken helps
I like that you lab some of these situations, it's not the first time you mentioned some situation that you had labbed out. I think it would be great if you just recorded these smalls clips and played them out to demonstrate. It doesn't have to have a fancy transition or anything, just open the video on VLC straight up and show us. Would add a lot to it I think.
those fast charging moves that break defense should not exist in tekken. The ones paul, akuma and whoever else has one. It's stupid, unblockables used to always be slow and obvious.
I wonder if Rangchu has any friends lmao. That playstyle is infuriating. Huge props to Keisuke for keeping his cool most of the time. I really hope the bear chips gets nerfed or Julia gets released so that we don't have to see bears in top8
Boas playstyle is the complete opposite to keisukes funnily enough. Keisuke is all about defense, attacking only when he has the advantage and lowest risk possible. Boa plays the riskiest Kazuya ever , going for hellsweeps all the time so I don't think that would have helped him here
@@JustAnte9557 "Kazuya is not good cause I suck ass as him D:". I never said he was op, but he's clearly in a good position now, good enough to compete. He only needed a couple tweaks and got more than that. He's fine now, wether you like it or not
Kazuya's damage is about 10% lower then what it should be on combos, and quite frankly his biggest weakness is his lack of mobility/reach against any other character in the game. Meaning if you exclude his wave dash there is nothing of his that moves him forward to attack with and all his attacks have lower range or attack then any other character in the game..
True he does over rely on wave dashing but his combo damage is excellent actually after the update, with no heat used or perfect electric you can get 80 dmg combo no wall either, it's the other characters combo damage that needs to be nerfed if anything.
I think the format has been fine. Just a little slow. One match per vid is greatly in-depth but also leaves me personally hungry for more. I scout out these uploads daily.

I’m really looking forward to Keisuke succeeding. Even if he swapped Kazuya, I’d enjoy watching him, but I’m sure he plays Kaz out of love for the character.
It's not a wierd world for all your talk about downplaying, the difficulty of succeeding with a character like Kazuya in a tournament setting is truly what gets downplayed, its far better to have a character with easy to use tools than powerful ones that have a significant execution barrier well, at least hes finally in a place he should have been at t8's launch. Now I guess everyone will cry and get him nerfed into obscurity again. That said I have to say it's always interesting that when ever I see a kaz in tournament they rarely ever have any thing but the most basic combos with no damage optimisation whatso ever, it always seems like its a pocket character they only chose for matchup reasons.
Keisuke is the best kazuya on earth. He just opted to go for the consistent routes, rather than dropping combos attempting more than 1 electric. Nerves play a major part here. Even at the highest level of play, you’re GOING to drop electrics.
He was not strong before the most recent patch, he had non functioning combos with terrible damage, no way to build momentum and lackluster punishment. And the t8 system does nothing for his vortex
