If MLS is to grow a fan base, they need to make it easy and free to watch their games. The NFL became a behemoth because Pete Rozelle recognized the need to invest in broadcasting all the games to grow the league’s fan base. I used to watch the FC Dallas games when they were on local TV and I made it to a couple of games every season. I haven’t watched or gone to an MLS game in years.
@@DremianBlades-cx5lj soccer/football is not about stats. You've got to watch the games. If you watch other top LB's, it's clear that Robinson is not at they're level.
I really loved the chemistry between Cuenca and Antonee on that left side of defense as a Fulham fan despite them each being partially culpable for both of Liverpool's goals. Lukic and Berge were suspect defensively in transition all match. I hope Antonee sticks around for the rest of the season and then moves to Liverpool if they are really so all-in on him.
Was watching an interview on golazo or another show and they said they asked sahin about gio and where he is in the plans. Sahin said he absolutely loved the way gio plays and trains it isn’t about his talent level or work rate it has been all about his fitness levels. If gio stays healthy he has a place on the pitch with sahin as manager.
While Arriola is/was probably not of the quality that we want for the USMNT given the current player pool, I think his heart for playing for the national team and story of coming through Tijuana is inspiring, and I was gutted for him not to go to the WC because of the role he had played to that point. There was something to be said for what he offered as a sub that could change the tempo/completion of a game. Line I said, I agree that the long-term quality was not there, but, from a narrative perspective, I really felt for him.
72k per game is awful especially with some of the cities they play in and the fact I've started hearing quite a few European soccer people I watch say they like watching it and its not as bad as it used to be. Maybe make it where it isn't only on apple tv that people dont want to pay for
Regarding Gio to MLS, it was absurd to even be suggested, but even worse there were a fair amount of fans who have defended the opinion. I guess it's a bit of a reminder that many average fans don't have a very good ability to evaluate the game. Obviously there are chasms of space between Dortmund and the MLS. If Gio can't achieve sustained playing time and success at Dortmund, there are so many other options for him to play at an appropriate level and not come to MLS and watch his development stagnate. Again, some could argue that it's stagnated at Dortmund, but that doesn't make MLS the answer. Regarding MLS, they desperately need a philosophical change towards a different identity as a league. Their focus should be squarely on becoming a consistent development path for young, talented players in this hemisphere. In terms of players to attract, and then act as a stepping stone, a couple that come to mind are Miguel Almiron and Jhon Duran. And of course there are examples within the US, such as Pepi, Busio, Tessmann, A. Morris, etc. A clear shift away from attracting players near retirement age, towards a purposeful focus on attracting players who are around the age of 20, but who are likely to play 2-3 seasons at most in MLS if their upward trajectory continues, is what the league needs. That's how you find sustained growth, which in turn will drive a more engaged fanbase over the long run. American fans would be much more likely to follow the league if their local/regional teams had several exciting young players to watch versus one or two players with "marketability" but who are well past their prime and pulling the finances of the league down with their inflated salaries and limited opportunity for future transfer revenue. There would inevitably be certain young players who hit a ceiling and remain in MLS. Or who perhaps have some tentative opportunities to move to a European league, but choose to remain in MLS for one reason or another. In terms of Americans, perhaps a guy like Jesus Ferreira is a decent example. Luciano Acosta might be a decent example as a player from elsewhere in the Americas. Let those players supplement and help develop the new crop of young talent that can be consistently attracted to the league. Forget about being a retirement league for a handful of splashy names every now and again.
I don’t watch MLS final. I have skipped many USMNT games after COPA. I been watching USWNT and NWSL highlights. I watched NWSL final. NWSL final viewership drew 967,900 viewers. MLS final had 468,000 viewers. US Men’s soccer is suck now. Not exciting. No superstars. US women are full of global superstars. I think US men’s soccer really needs to work hard. Audience is earned not granted.
I saw a deal that the EPL posted on A-Rob where he leads all leftbacks or players in tackles and interceptions or recoveries something like that. Also I was watching a video on Zidane and nearly every issue besides parents and injuries were the same as Gio. Everyone said he was slow, lazy, had a bad attitude and body language, and was too lanky and languid. He didn't really break out until he was 25 and played for Caanes. Not saying Gio is Zizou I'm not insane but maybe some people need to just chill and see what he can be instead of losing it based on every little thing
LD did not say Gio should come to MLS. You are taking it out of context. He said if he was in MLS, he would have more play time, which he would. Over the past couple of years, even when Gio is rarely fit, he barely has gotten play time. You are still toxic even after Gregg is gone. You are a part of what makes this fanbase so intolerable. MLS is obviously nowhere near comparable to the top 4-5 leagues.... no leagues are. But man, you are toxic as fuck to your own domestic league. It's okay that it is its own thing.
Is Landon Donavan on X? We should make fun of him for his Gio take
He has his own podcast with Howard. I bet he would enjoy the comments there.
Clint Dempsey has always been the most reasonable American Soccer force, both on and off the pitch.
Antonee Robinson just has an incredible motor. He just runs past people. It is like that he is twice as fit as the other players.

Fulham will probably cash in on Jedi this winter brake. He is currently the best left back in the EPL by far.🤔
Definitely not the best, but solid
@Dirty.Dan. Name any left back in the EPL that has better stats than him at the moment...

I don't understand why Gio and Brandt cannot be on the field together in a 4-3-2-1 or similar. I think they would work well together and cause havoc.
If we count Damian Downs at Cologne, he would be near the top of this list: 1 goal, 1 pen earned, 1 assist.
As a sounders fan we should sign a aging 9 from Europe.

I would watch mls except my team (NE) has been unwatchable for the last two years.
Is it pochs job to recruit? Isn’t that the GMs job?
