    Same here. Grew up in Wisconsin and didn't discover biscuits and gravy until my late 20's working in the south. Same with good BBQ too, it just doesn't exist up there.

    I only thing I would do different is use 1 cup buttermilk instead of milk, and up them side by side into a greased with the lard or butter iron skillet. Thanks again!

    If you leave off twisting the biscuit cutter, the biscuits will not be lop-sided. Also, place them in the pan touching each other will get a better rise. In the south, most cooks use a cast iron skillet which is perfect for seven or eight biscuits. But your biscuits do look pretty.

    I absolutely love that stove behind you! First thing I noticed. Lol most make biscuits with butter, and they are good. But the butter does not agree with my stomach. Been looking for a recipe with lard, cause didn't know the amount of lard. I was putting too much in. I get lard from the Amish and it does make the best biscuits! Thank you 😊

    Don’t twist the biscuit cutter. Push straight down then lift up. Twisting seals the sides and prevents high rising. From a Southern bisque cooker.

    Is the 425 oven they key to keep them from being doughy in the center?

    • @lovelywithlard3208
      @lovelywithlard3208  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The high heat helps produce maximum steam. Which helps the biscuits rise as much as possible.

    • @lovelywithlard3208
      @lovelywithlard3208  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes you can but will need to adjust other leavening agents
      If you use buttermilk
      Change baking powder to 1 tsp
      And also add 1/2 tsp baking soda
      Hope this helps!

    Do U sell your lard? Is it lead lard ?

    • @lovelywithlard3208
      @lovelywithlard3208  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We use a lot of lard. I do use leaf lard for my baked goods but when I run out I use just plain lard
      We don’t sell it just because we use so much! Our friends and family usually get some as gifts

It’s about the love of cooking and good food. Hope you enjoyed making the biscuits. If you need any help let me know.
