Emppu shines in their tribute to Pink Floyd in their 2005 concert. It was their version of "High Hopes". Just the four guy's. Tuomas, Marko, Emppu, and Jukka. It's outstanding.
Cannot recommend this strongly enough! Even David Gilmour is a fan of their performance!

Old rock and roller here back from the beginning of rock and roll, I've learned since I first found nightwish that the musicians in this band are the best there is, emppu is no different but in dead boys poem he did a solo that made me cry that's never happened before tuomas wrote the song on how he would like to be remembered when he died I've had words in a song that have made me cry and music that has made me cry but never a guitar solo emppu is one of the best I've ever heard, and I've seen and heard the best through the many years these people always leave their ego at the door it's wonderful God bless

It is interesting that the most important man in the group, Tuomas, the keyboard player, stays so in the background. Really solid, seamless ensemble playing.
Art, not ego is what they're about Jeff. I think Emppu is a master of less is more, but they all do what the song requires, no flamboyance, no unnecessary embellishment, no showing off.
It's refreshing.
This songs rocks! This is about as “shreddy” as Emppu gets. My personal favorite Emppu solo is from one of their slower pieces, something more Gilmour-esque, from Dead Boy’s Poem, Live in Buenos Aires. It’s short, but perfect. Enjoy!

The solo in Dead Boy's Poem is great. I also love his solo in 7 Days to the Wolves.
Dead Boys Poem is just perfect. It's also because of his guitar-tone. It's just so pure, somehow. Really suits the song.
Again just love your genuine reactions. One important head scratcher. Nightwish might be the only metal band that could put three or even four live setlists and all the songs would just be amazing 💥💥💥

Tuomas has stated that Floor really wanted this song in the setlist. She loves all of Nightwish's music, but she is such the Metal Queen at heart. This whole concert was magical, and Floor had just the band 10 months earlier was still being introduced to the Nightwish fans, they killed. I love the shirt, got one of those too.
This sounds almost as a different song than the studio version.
@@luisendymion9080 They changed it up when Floor came onboard. Tuomas knows Floor can sing any style she chooses, and his brilliance is unchained with such a versatile vocalist. Any vocal challenge he has thrown at Floor, and he does challenge her, she just slays.

First time I saw this live I didn't recognize the song until the first chorus. I mean, I knew from the title, but I barely could believe how much better it sounded ;)

What an nice reaction. Special thanks for your great Emppu-comments. I have to say, he´s my favorite. He is so nice and interactive guy - and what an guitar specialist! And he don´t have to do his solos in every song. This way everything is more effective. He is very versatile player and can execute everything Thomas comes up.

Romanticide cuts your chest open and gives you cardiac massage. This and Ever Dream are my absolute favourites!!
Outstanding! First, the time signature tricks keep me on the edge of my seat throughout. Probably because I've never really figured them out. Next, I love that you shared the same 'Now what?' moment that we all have also shared as they went into the breakdown. Third, I love Emppu's expression just after the vocal slide up/down. It's almost like he is saying "yeah. . . they just did that". Finally, I love Jukka standing at his kit hitting the china in the last bit of time signature shenanigans. This song is exhausting, in a good way. Nice work, Jeff!

The “scream” at the end is called a glissando, going from low to high and back, for classical trained singers this is an exercise to warm up the vocal cords, so Floor will do this probably every day before breakfast.
And Emppu just Kills that guitar solo 💥(to serve the Song ). Yes,....More Emppu , he deserves This !!!!

Floor was relatively new with the band and had to be introduced to the crowd at the start of the set ...... that was one hell of a getting acquainted with the new lead singer of the band.

Jeff, you just Bob Beamon'd it!! Just a "killer" of a performance. I have several Emppu magnificent moments, but in this song ... when he starts the "chunka-chunka" riff, they pan away and then back to him and he's looking at Floor & Marko. I also love his pulling Floor's ear monitor plug on Wacken's "I Want My Tears Back", and when he goes back to stage right, she turns on him and he looks like a mouse caught by the cat! There might never be a more enjoyable musician to watch, he's all over the place and constantly smiles. Regarding his abilities, I've used the analogy that the first violinist in the orchestra doesn't riff and solo unless the piece requires it, yet nobody ever questions their position in the orchestra. The "machine gun" bass drum attack of Jukka is the best I've ever heard ... and when he stands near the end to beat his cymbal like it owes him money ... just WOW!! It's not my favorite, but it's damn near the top ... just below TGSOE, Poet & Pendulum, GLS, and Ever Dream ... so, top 5. It's so hard to chose between masterpieces. Which is your favorite Rembrandt? Every member of this band plays from a joy that starts at their toes and bursts forth from their smiles and instrumentals. Thank you for sharing your passion and insight. It's as close to hearing it for the first time again as I can get, and I appreciate and celebrate you for that!!

Dontcha love a band you had no idea about till recently just flips your world upside down and I can see youre a huge fan (nice shirt). Im sure as a musician its inspiring for sure.
One of the best but you haven't checked Song of Myself, Weak Fantasy, 7 Days to the Wolves or Yours is an Empty Hope yet.

Great Reaction! Romanticide ranks up there as one of the heaviest songs they play, which makes it a big favorite amongst alot of Nightwish fans.
In early 2022 Floor did another show similar to Beste Zangers, but in Germany, called Sing Meinen Song 2022. They have not posted any videos of it yet, but a You Tuber has somehow made a medley video of Floors performances on the show and she really blew them away. I've never seen Floor move around so much as she does it this video. It's only 6 minutes long and the title to the video is "Floor Jansen's Best Collection (All Episodes) Sing Meinen Song 2022."
I was certain that you would really enjoy this one - it was my favourite live performance until being supplanted by "The Poet and the Pendulum" Wembley Arena 2015. Really good fun watching your first time with this song, thanks.

And I was NOT disappointed!
The intro riff seems to start one sixteenth after the downbeat. Emppu makes a little "pick leaving string" sound on the "one" actually, I doubt it's an accident (he's good enough to not let unwanted sounds come out of his guitar).

when it comes to the music and light show and everything that makes this band spectacular and everything they are doing interaction with the audience and each other they are showing everyone meaning mainly their would be competition this spectacularly powerful band and the equally powerful compositions of music that these folks compose i have concluded that if anyone else were to try do do what they do it musically i don't think it would pass the smell test

I would absolutely love to see a video specificially on Emppu and his amazing skills. There's nothing wrong with shredding, but to me -personally- there's a time and a place for it, and I love how Emppu just knows when and where is the right place.

This song is an adrenaline ride and the mixed time signatures match well with the theme of the song which is about a relationship falling apart or having fallen apart and how the players are sniping at each other in the lyrics. One of my favourites from Wacken 🤣

Floor's, Jukka's and Emppu's parts are deliberately unharmonized because the song is about Romanticide, when things in marriage aren't smooth sailing. "Just" a genius work by Tuomas.
