Hatay became one of the cities most severely affected by the disaster that struck Southeast Turkey on February 6, 2023. However, in the midst of this disaster, a group emerged who chose to stay rather than leave. Their goal extended beyond helping neighbors; they aimed to heal the wounds and restore the city to its former glory. "Buradayız Hatay" ('We Are Here, Hatay') became a symbol of resilience in the city. The community accurately identified critical needs and provided assistance to the city.
A notable event organized by @buradayizhatay was a two-day celebration for children and families affected by the disaster. This event offered a much-needed break, allowing them to momentarily forget their hardships. Despite the losses experienced beyond their years, children took the stage, enjoying simple childhood pleasures. Music, balloons, face painting, volunteer clowns, and snacks brought smiles back to their faces, even in the midst of rubble. This tale of resilience reflects Hatay's collective determination to rebuild and heal.
