  • No.120 My brother had a problem with his Oil Pan Bolt when trying to change is oil on his car. He brought the car to a store for an oil change last time & they must have use an air gun with worn out sockets, because now the bolt was stripped. Today I will help him remove the stripped bolt or plug.

    I've got this problem with my bolt head. My problem now is trying to use this while I'm laying on my back under the vehicle trying to use this. Looks a lot easier with the vehicle on a lift witch I don't have.

    in this scenario i just use a mini plumber pipe wrench . and then once the oil pan bolt is off i weld a tight fitting socket to the stripped bolt

    When installing the filter twist counter clockwise firs just like a half turn than when you feel the groves fall in the thread twist clockwise

    Question so the size that I normally Use for my bolt which is 13mm do I use the same socket to use like u did or smaller..?? I’m use to old school get a socket that’s a lil smaller hammer it in and then ya..!! Lol

    • @jonahvlogsdiy4143
      @jonahvlogsdiy4143  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'de use I smaller socket but the plumbers wrench works just as good to remove it. I used the wrench on my neighbours stripped bolt also & worked like a charm.

      @@jonahvlogsdiy4143 thank you for the reply much respect ✊🏾… Yeah I got it off, I have no idea how it got so messed up . With my vehicle being a 08 charger there’s no need to go fully under the car. So I grabbed my socket wrench and started turning it left from just laying down under my bumper. From my point bcuz it’s backwards it would look like if I was actually going the way to tighten it . Anyways I bought something similar to what you have it’s called “IRWIN Bolt-Grip, Bolt Extractor Set” I had bought the “Gator Grip” probably in some cases it would work but it didn’t on mine, but after buying the other socket it came right off… Anyways thxs again much respect ✊🏾.keep up with the good work and posting more and more content…👍

      You can also drill a hole with a drill and insert a brand new oil pan screw. It works

      Good question. You might have to remove the whole oil pan.

      Technically it's designed as a bolt but call it a plug. lol

      I couldn't find anything online and got a substitute. This is the link at the Amazon store: www.amazon.com/dp/B07X5VGX69/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_D9CPF6C0KH1YC4521F12

      Can you let me know if the product I bought does what your grip tight does? I bought it making sure it had discriminations matching the strip issues on a bolt.

    Oil every where. The car seems to have more problem than the plug itself

  • @miguelvargas9508
    @miguelvargas9508 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I don't know why the people make thing worse and the problem is very simple to solve; just get a propane torch and heat the bolt around very hot and with a pressure pliers very tight you remove it easily. jejejeje

    • @jonahvlogsdiy4143
      @jonahvlogsdiy4143  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I wouldn't do that on the oil pan. Heating the bolt plug while still stuck in oil pan could cause more problems to the oil pan. Just saying.

    That's an oil drain plug NOT an oil pan bolt. They are 2 different things.

      It is a drain plug bolt, most definitely will respond to rounded bolt extractors.
