It's because it's mostly recognized as a pastiche instead of an original REH. But since he's written the original fragment and outline of the story before others finished it, I'm counting it as a REH ^^
Could very well be the case that this one passed you by because it´s another pastiche that only existed as a fragment written by REH and finished by someone else after his death? Glad I could provide more Conan stories to add to your ´collection´ :D
@@MiniatureMythos It's not only Conan. I have a decent library of other R.E.H. Stories. Bran Mak Morn, Kirby O'Donnel(i think?), El Borak, Kull and of course Solomon Kane. I'd love to upload some of the Bran, Kirby and El Borak Stories, but i fear they're still copyrighted (at least the audiobook versions i have) :( Probably should check into that again, as they're really worth sharing.
Indeed, I´m planning a lot more of REH´s work here in the future. Channels like the Cybrarian have got a lot of them done already (great videos btw), so I don´t foresee any troubles in getting those done here either 😀
I came across this one in a stack I got at a yard sale around '96. It's ok, chewing the cosmology scenery so to speak. Taking Howard's character forward might seem simple or "cool" as an idea, but its no joke man. Howard wasn't a normal guy by any stretch of the imagination and I think being able to crawl around inside his head is as useful as being able to get inside the Hyborian world. Gread video production and: Thank You!
Thank you for the little anecdote! It's true, finding what made Howard so great and trying to emulate that seems to be a lot more elusive than you'd think. Not a lot of people were able to capture his style and imagination. I feel that the true extent of the Hyborian World as REH envisioned it will always remain just out of reach.
Good read, never heard an audiobook of Nergal. But it was written by Lin Carter not Robert e. Howard to fill out the conan books from the 60's. Love the pics you put with the story.
Do you notice that Robert E Howard’s writing style employs a ton of redundant adjectives, especially with similes, metaphors, or analogies (especially similes)? “His panther like muscles tensed like steel springs ready to spring.” I think R E H did this more than anyone else. Lots of adjectives & similes!
I do tend to agree. However, in this story, it's especially noticable. This could be because the story was written as just a fragment by REH, and most of the redundant adjectives are because of Lin Carter, who finished the story. REH's fragment has a lot less adjectives and analogies.
Ofcourse, the man knows what's good in life... Also, spoilers for the latest story on the channel, 'Black Colossus', it features a young princess and you can probably guess the rest :p
The narrator's accent lends just the right amount of the exotic that a classic Conan story should have. I'll be subscribing and listening to more.
Much appreciated! :D
Just when I think I have listened to all of robert e howards audio book readings. I find somthing new. Happy birthday 2 gun Bob.

Excellent reading! Thank you for reading for us!
My pleasure! Thank you for listening to it :D
WOW, didn't think there was a Conan Story left out there, that i didn't read (or hear) before.
Thank you sooo much, for bringing this back to life :)

@@raistlin2k3 Cybrarian covered some of those so it ought to be fine.

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it! I thought it was quite obvious that it wasn't an original REH, but it's still a fun story.
