It is a shame that Howard and Lovecraft, etc., did not live to hear your masterful retelling of their works. They would have loved it. Every bit as much as we do.
I get what you're saying, but not many people from the beginning of the 20th century would be alive 90 years later. They died young, for sure, but I'm not sure they'd still be alive anyway. ┐( ˘_˘)┌
@@Boogie_the_cat While they lived, there were the works of other writers that were read & performed for radio, and in that context they truly might have liked to hear theirs presented by someone with even close to such talent as Ian Gordon has.

Ian! Love it when you put out more of Howards work! Still would love house of arabu, people of the dark, or the men of the shadows but for now all that can be said is... Thanks my dude! Party on and be excellent to each other.
He's got a few, some of the best ones are Westerns. My favorite one involves a vampire and a cattle rancher. It ends badly for the vampire, as you can imagine :)
I just got out of surgery in a little while ago and seeing the story pop up one of the best things that could have happened when I feel this shitty. Thank you
Excellent voice acting yet again, Ian. It strikes me how much that the talented writers of this era were so poetic in their creations rather than just story tellers.
This story was... immobilizing. I don't know that I've ever listened to a tale that gripped me so maliciously. I'll often listen to these readings as I try taking a nap, but this one had me squirming in my chair as I pictured the creatures and the escape scenes. Brilliant story and brilliant reading!

@jeffashley5512 Ah I see, my folks have visited Tennessee many times and they always mention that humidity! Well, do enjoy that refreshing rain while it lasts! 🌧
Another great one from Mr. Howard. Another fantastic narration by the fantastic one and only! Just starting this yarn. I know it is gonna be good! Halfway through. It is a helluva good story, my friend! Many thanks!

@@bigpeterowo4436 I think we can all agree that Warren no longer has what one would call "a perspective". That said, it's my speculation that something now has another perspective through Warren. I have little to support my conjecture but there it is. Lol
As a kid & teenager during the 70's, I read R.E. Howard almost fanatically (Hence the contraction "Fan"). Mostly His Conan novellas & short stories. As well as S. Kane and other stories of Fantasy & Horror. He has a distinct style, and while He can be a bit "cheesey" at times, His style and knowledge of history and geography is quite complex. Hinting at a classical education. Especially for a young dude from "Cross Plains" Texas, born at the turn of the 20th century. His name suggests a Scottish heritage. Too bad He died so young.
Hoping all is well Ian. Apologies, not much time for stories recently, but the season is Spooky once again, so makingbmore more of an effort. Have on read a few of Howard's Conan stories, so getting to hear his other work is enlightening. Thanks
@HorrorBabble wow, that would be an honour indeed! Currently working on my 2nd collection, which is more fantastical than pure horror. Am also working with Stephen Sinclair to get his work in print as well.
This remains one of my favorite Robert E. Howard Stories. Short but sweet with 2 unexpected twists, sliding seamlessly from a Scooby Doo murder mystery to a science fiction horror story. The one thing that I don’t like is Howard had to shoehorn in some racism; he couldn’t just leave it to the reader’s imagination what the Dwellers used to look like. No, he had to explicitly say they were whites. Sigh, maybe that was unavoidable in his day but it sticks out like a wooden stake in a vampire’s chest these days.
“Harley Warren. He who had so calmly left me a little while previously, now called from below in a shaky whisper more portentous than the loudest shriek: … ‘Keep up the good work and, as always, stay safe!’”

The bad news is that Warren is indeed dead. However, it makes him a _perfect_ choice as Kamala Harris’ running mate as a VP who can’t possibly outshine her. A strong, silent partner in governance who will never contradict her and will always grant her space to think. A man truly unburdened by what has been. *Harris-Warren ‘24!*
... this story is too hamfisted for my liking. The forced explanation by the journal... the disassociation with the unknown horrors of the deep being too rapidly introduced... the meandering, convoluted, force-fed nature of the terror... Eh...
