- What are your thoughts? Why shut It down. These are my home waters. I have spent many days out here this year and glad I finally filmed 3 days before it closed.
This announcement was a shock. This marine area never shuts down.
Maybe to many fish this year?
Maybe fishing was to good?

MA-13 is my home waters as well. Fishing has been better than average, but their excuse for closing it was a lower than expected catch. I suspect this is more of what is expected in the future, making excuses and closing fishing at a whim. Unfortunately, we expect it and just go along with it. Glad you had success and a good day.
Exact same here. I was joking about them shutting 13 down a couple weeks ago because catching was to good. Nisqually not so much but other places ya. Thanks Bill

I was just out there today in search of winter blackmouth. My first time fishing the sound. No luck, but it was a really nice day on the water!
Right on. Try between McNeil and Anderson. More on the McNeil side. Super smooth long troll. 120ft depth. Most days zero there but a few days were loaded with 5-8 lbers last year
Reopened! But yeah that was a dumb call. The wording on the reopening rule change sounds like they were sort of back reeling their decision. Was in that same spot day before, nothing!

Pretty shocking that happened in an area that is almost entirely hatchery fish
I know right? The concern was the nisqually river had a terrible return going. I believe right after they closed it a massive amount of fish showed up prompting them to reopen 13, just a couple days later.
Why didn’t you answer where is launch from south Marine Area 13? Few fishermen did ask you where. Your are not humble!

I just started fishing again after 20+ years, I usually launch at Pt Defiance and I need a south sound launch point like yours. Where is that?

What rods do ya use for downriggers?
Currently using the shimano Clarus rods 9ft. I was using velocity Salmon extreme but they were to light
Been fishing this area for 3 years and have yet to catch a salmon!
