When this music starts, one of three happens. 1. Everyone dies. 2. Last person alive spends ten minutes trying to get a 50ft restraining order with the monster, only to end up being killed. 3. That one guy goes god mode and perfectly dodges, staggers, and boops everything, eventually driving off/slaying the monster.
Bro, scenario 3 is so rare but so fucking fun. You're on the edge of your seat like "GO, DUDE, GO!" all freaking out and shit and the music fits so well. One time I had a group of me and two friends, we fought a shrike for the first time WAY earlier than we should have. We had one rando with Gnasher gear and recruit chain blades, we didnt expect him to last long. This song plays, and all three of us go down, but this dude fucking Bruce Lees this thing and kills it with practically no health by the end. All three of us (who were in a Discord call) were having like full blown anxiety attacks in call lmao. We were so happy when he killed it, we friended him on PSN.

my first 100% danger scenario was stormclaw, everyone were out of syringes except for a guy who glitched the behemoth, Well, For an short period. He died after the behemoth started to attack again lol
and then you get some awesome skill because this music is so tense it increases your skill lvl by 10x and then the server say nope and get u killed by a small lag ._.
First time I heard this, I was in a team of rando's against my very first actual Embermane. I was doing alright with the hammer, but my team... not so much. I only saw like 3 dodges out of all of them combined, and two of them had "YT" in their name, so that's to be expected. They kept yelling at me to revive them once they immediately shot off all their stims, even after 100%. I ended up fighting a behemoth I had never fought before solo, still first stage. All I had I was at 75% health, full stims, 3 heals, underleveled gear, and the knowledge of its weakness. I managed to drive off the thing and get off 1 revive on the closest before it went 100% again, and according to the other two, I had unfortunately rezzed the worst of them. Even more unfortunate, they were right. He lasted 16 seconds. Even near the end when I was rarely taking any hits and stunning it consistently, it still managed to finish me off when we had 2:15 left on the clock. After that fight, I decided that shit wouldn't happen again. No matter how shitty the randos I got matched with were, I would never let them down again. And so, to the time of writing this comment, I've been training against every monster I can, learning every move, every read, every weakness and tactic, until I can take them down solo without my health going below half. It's fuckin tough, and I'm still not there, but I'm well on my way.

I actually love the concept of a despair theme playing in a losing game. Salt in the wounds, being kicked while you're on the ground, but it makes me want to win all the more
To me, I like how the first half is basically despair/you're already dead, since in order for this to play you need to be doing poorly for your hunt. Think it fits the whole the end is nigh feel Yet I enjoy the second half, when the chanting starts. It's like the game acknowledges you arent out yet, your hunter is fighting to the end, and you've made it this long despite the monster being even stronger. The end is in sight, but so is your possible comeback over the threat. Dont know, just my two cents about it
I just imagine Ostian scientists watching you from afar, while you fight a behemoth until your last breath and be like "damn I didn't think he/she would last this long(ps: they are the chants).
Man, I remember the time I fended off a Hellion twice in a single mission, with no healing items either time, and with all 3 teammates down. I felt like a fucking god.
I just remember this theme playing with I clutched up Heroic Scorchstone Hellion with chain blades while my team that used up all their self rez’s in the first 5 minutes watched me. Took me like 10 minutes but it was worth feeling like a god

Finally, the fight I waited for all this time My party and I rejoiced as we slayed the Rezakiri and Embermane. We didn't think it could be done, but, it payed of. We cut the tails, claws, wings, and got ready. My friend noticed the bodies dissipating towards something, the glowing gem. We thought it was over...we were wrong. All the sudden we get a huge power spike over the radio we here screeching, the sounds of flesh being torn apart and a loud roar. "THERE"S STILL ONE LEFT!" The Aether boost breaks the ground. what choice do we have, it's either die here...or destroy whatever is up there. We walk up, and see it, a massive serpent in the sky surrounded in electricity. As we approach the beast it glares at us, and roars and slams into the ground. It begins The beast called......Malkarion. It lunges forward and scoops up my teammate with such force we don't have time to stop him. A loud crunch can be heard through the thunder and the top half falls. We disperse each taking a swing, we got lucky I'm able to mount it and get a few swings in, even cutting its tail, but that only made it angrier. With a loud screech it jolts forward and frys my friend to ash leaving him lying on the ground, I try to reach him but to no avail the beast lashes out and what can only seem like it smirked at me telling me "it's just us now". What feels like hours, days, weeks, months, years, I grab it's snout, push with the force that even a Skarn would recoil at, and climb atop this monster. With one stab to the neck and forcing it through, I finish it. I give my friend my last potion, and clean him up at the small aether vent nearby that it was drinking at. We rebuild parts of the ship, collect the beasts parts and skin it, we burry what's left of our teammate, and head back to Ramsgate. Malkarion...is slain.

I've carried my team 7 times now (yes, I counted), and hearing the main theme of Dauntless (1:51) hypes me up and gives me that extra oomph to continue the fight, even if it's just me doing all the fighting. Playing in random is a pain sometimes.
I remember one time I was fighting heroic tempestborne stormclaw with randoms, we got to 100% danger and my whole team was relying on me to kill it, and after like 5 minutes, 2 of my teammates abandoned the quest probably because they thought I was gonna get demolished, but 1 person stayed saying “YOU CAN DO IT!” And eventually after like 3 more minutes I managed to slay it. Too bad those other people abandoned the quest for thinking I would fail, they would’ve gotten some mats.

I've carried my team 7 times now (yes, I counted), and hearing the main theme of Dauntless (1:51) hypes me up and gives me that extra oomph to continue the fight, even if it's just me doing all the fighting.

I remember one time I was fighting heroic tempestborne stormclaw with randoms, we got to 100% danger and my whole team was relying on me to kill it, and after like 5 minutes, 2 of my teammates abandoned the quest probably because they thought I was gonna get demolished, but 1 person stayed saying “YOU CAN DO IT!” And eventually after like 3 more minutes I managed to slay it. Too bad those other people abandoned the quest for thinking I would fail, they would’ve gotten some mats.

The first time I fought Valomyr, my entire part died pretty quickly. But because I was using guns, I was able to spend the next half hour clutching the fight and listening to this fucking nightmare music.
