The fact that this high school has only had a competitive band program for like 10 years is absolutely insane to me, and they’re like one of the best in the country rn.
It was only established in 2009. That's not insane, that's very predictable in affluent areas. This was clearly just a brand new school in an affluent area.
They were 2nd at UIL state finals (technically tied with Hebron. Hebron had more 1st place votes giving them first) and placed 5th at BOASA. FWIW, FloMo was 3rd at State but 1st at BOASA. Hebron was 1st at State and 2nd at BOASA. The judging criteria are pretty different. UIL is more about the musicianship and BOA more geared towards GE.
I was on the sideline about to perform watching this with pearland, and all I can say is wow! (I would also love it if you could react to our show “Illuminate” from 2023)
Vandegrift the past 2 years won state with very "boring" shows that were also very easy. A lot of people hate them because of this as people didn't think they deserved to win even though they didn't win State or BOA SA this year this show was way cooler and very difficult and I hope Vandy stays with this difficulty instead of resorting back to what they had previously (22' 23')
Vandegrift tied with Hebron and by judge preference Hebron placed first. I think Flower Mound just had an off run and would have won it. The prelim runs for Vandegrift and Flower Mound were individually I think much better. In the end all of the bands at finals should feel very accomplished and respected as marching athletes……amazing community of band in Texas…..super competitive and it just keeps pushing these high schools to great levels of accomplishment. I think you should look at all the Alamodome UIL finalists… it really is a testament to band life in TX.
@@catherineerickson1849 they sure did! Woodlands was phenomenal and placed just ahead of them. Marcus was excellent, but I personally would’ve had them behind Vista Ridge at BOA.
@@sean7054 I don’t mean off run in an ugly way….. Vandegrift had a few marching and musical missteps as well as flower mound… Hebron had less than both of them ….it really comes down to the show that is put on the field ….. all of these shows were incredible and amazing. But that’s how it goes… you have to be at 110% when you compete….. mistakes are really hard to find at this level but they are there……. My kids are very proud of what they put on the field as they should be… thier show went fast and hard….. and they pulled it off and did it as a team. The best memories of thier lives with some of the best people in thier life…. But there were a few missteps….opportunities to get better and improve ….. that is what they love about this sport……. Striving towards being better.
The dance ensemble could go in the direction of Marion Catholic HS if they wanted to. Marion Catholic was a dance/drill team a long while back. They put some equipment in their hands and became a SW guard at WGI. I keep waiting to see if they are going to do that. I don’t know where MCHS’s guard is now. I haven’t heard from them in awhile. My rankings of the top 3 at UiL State would have been Hebron in 1st, Flower Mound 2nd and Vandy 3rd. That’s why we have judging panels and get the average, right! 😊 love your reactions!!
If you like homages to Carolina Crown, you should react to the Calgary Stampede Showband 2019. Our music is also arranged by Micheal Klesch, and he pulled our closer basically note for note from Crown 2007
@@sourlogs365 Lowkey idk how they pulled that 3rd outta their ass lmao tbh I mean tbf vistta and vandy had a bad run idk bout woodlands but 6th to 3rd is absolutely crazy lmao
if your looking to listen to some of the best bands at grand nats, (or at least ones that are actually entertaining) i suggest tarpon springs or broken arrow 2024. both of their shows really moved me the most in indy this year
Bro Christmas came early. These reactions are awesome. More love for high schools across the nation but mostly texas because marching band is just better down here.
the vision dance company is the color guard that also competes if I understand correctly in WGI and other competitions. Can you do a reaction to The Woodlands High school marching band 2019 show On The Town
Hey. Recommend you watch the bridgeland band. They got seventh at grand nationals and are one of the youngest bands to ever make uil state and Grand national finals
Can you react to our 2024 show “Maximus” performed by the Pearland High School Marching Band please, we placed 8th at state and 12 in BOA Super Regionals

Except the whole roster for UIL was mostly out of state BOA judges

Not an off run- just the judges are more "traditional" when it comes to UIL.

You absolutely have to watch Ronald Reagan 2019, probably the best designed HS show in recent memory and an amazing use of color guard in high school
0:56 I think it’s that they have a dance company in place of a color guard
I love these videos. I can’t wait for you to hopefully react to vista ridge marching band this year and pearland marching band.
Vista Ridge musically was my favorite and definitely overall the crowd favorite at BOA San Antonio super regional.
