Thank you for noticing the change to bent leg! There were so many cool and fun moments in this show and I feel like that moment wasn’t caught by the audience as I had hoped. The Kendrick melody is meant to be a mantra or calling to inspire the Vagabonds to where they might go next. It’s done in different styles, voices (instruments) and connects the movements into more like one big production. One of the drum majors said in an interview regarding the vagabonds something like home is not a place but that it is the people you’re with. So to me, because we always say “there’s no place like Santa Clara”, the homage to SCV with the bent leg in the closer is like they had found their home.
Another great reaction vid! Agree - Flo camera work on SCV was terrible all year - missed Maia (trumpet soloist) almost every time - never showed the big hornline visual on the drum feature, etc. And sound was horrible - the difference between live and Flo is dramatic for all corps. I don’t know why they can’t figure this out after all these years.
I remember seeing this semis night and they gave me chills. I was at a really shitty part of the stadium so i didnt get the full picture during majority of the shows but scv made me feel special. I knew they were getting the sanford even without seeing the scores
I agree with you, as much as I liked the selection of United in Grief, I wish they had used more musical motifs. I felt like by the time the show ended, every major hit had just been the same melody progression
There those shows that I enjoy during the season because of the whole package (Bloo, BD, BAC, Mandies this season). And those that I can’t wait to download the recordings of - this year it’s BD, Mandies, Phantom, and SCV!
Hey! Thanks for the videos, they're awesome. I think it would be really cool if you guys did Blue Devils 2012 Cabaret Voltaire. I've been super into that show recently and I'd be interested to see what input you guys have about it, especially being Blue Devils and having the insight of what goes into BD show design/execution. Keep up the great work!
Yeah I wish there was more creative variations of the theme. It was tiring to hear it played over and over again. I was happy to see them on the field again.
No prop I feel it's a risk because you're compared to drill writing of the great shows that came before. You get compared to like the cavies, 12 crown, etc etc. With props it allows for fresh feel because each year your prop is different
Im definitely biased as a mandies performer this year but i just wish scvs show had more varied music. The whole show was just kendrick. They absolutely killed it and pulled it off but to me after watching it i felt like it was just one long song. Either way glad theyre back in the game
The classics, the techniques, the repertoire but well they still have no more money for the judges like … 😅 but we know this is another gold show of dci 2024.
It's kinda funny cuz all the old heads that complain about modern drum corps were fangirling over scv cuz of them not having props but literally the only reason they don't have props is cuz they have no money 😭 It honestly surprised me that so many people were willing to return to a corps that folded the year before due to tax issues. I'm surprised they were willing to trust the corps to properly manage their money this year.
@@demigr0539 that surprised me too. I'm not scv talent level as much as i wish but even then, I couldn't have trusted it. It's too much money and too much time that you're putting into an organization to be unsure about how the season will go. They seemed to have a good season so Im happy it worked out. I loved this show
@@demigr0539As far as I'm aware, SCV's brass had a grand total of like 5 scv vets this year. Definitely one of the youngest finalist corps so they have a lot of potential right now
Not gonna lie, surprised that you guys at funliner haven't done a proper reaction to SCV 2018 yet!
I think they have, it just got removed
In every Funliner comment section someone says this 😂
@@ratinfestation3964yeah i was about to say, i swear i remember them doing it
Reupload it!
The ending of scv's show gives me CHILLS, especially when the audience says VANGUARD, literal chills

When i saw my favorite corps come back and play music by my favorite artist is literally lost it.
At 1:97 the ‘click’ of silence in time with the snare, just…… so goood!
I watched this in Ogden, UT live, this show is one of my favorites
Really enjoyed this show live. The percussion was ::chef's kiss:: Great reaction as always!!
the ending made me cry
You have to listen to the Marching Roundtable Podcast episode about this show. It's SO interesting and talks about how complicated the show is.
4:51 I know for sure that is the mello line/chord at the end of crown 2013 mvmt.3
RIGHT? the first time i listened to this live in denton, in my head i heard "12345678" at the end😭
I agree with you, as much as I liked the selection of United in Grief, I wish they had used more musical motifs. I felt like by the time the show ended, every major hit had just been the same melody progression
well, they used the same concept for "FInding Nirvana" also.. "Smells Like Teen Spirit" being the skeleton of taht program.
11:48 sounds like rocky point
I loved seeing this show in person
I believe that a lot of drummers followed Rennick to Troopers in 2021 and then again in 2023 and then followed him back to SCV in 2024
No props makes this show POP
That marimba section is ridiculous 😮
Close enough, Welcome back SCV
Loved the vid man keep goin!!

Gotta keep doing HS reactions. The view counts for those are crazy. I recommend The Woodlands 2024.

I hope some one learnt about Kendrick from this show because Kendrick is a great rapper
You guys should react to troopers show this year
Yeah I wish there was more creative variations of the theme. It was tiring to hear it played over and over again. I was happy to see them on the field again.
Given SCV’s 2017 show from the warmup lot video, y’all should react to Troopers show from this year.
When are you going to finish your marching band video with Japan?
That melody hits over 27 times. I counted
Paul and sandi rennick are legends.
React to Blue Stars next 💯💯
Would love for you guys to react to some older iconic corps😎1980’s Bridgemen, show I stumbled upon that I love 1984 Freelancers!!!

Hey man, will you do commentary on 2018 SCV?
Gotta react to Troopers!!
PLS PLS PLS REACT TO 2018 VANGUARD
Let's go Zack pack

There were definitely four different songs but they were well put together with clever transitions of tempo and time signature changes.
I mean tbf sweet by and by was like half of our show too
@henwill8 true we had sweet by and by hits in mvt 1 3 and 4 but I feel like everything in between was further removed than scv's show
The classics, the techniques, the repertoire but well they still have no more money for the judges like … 😅 but we know this is another gold show of dci 2024.
no props because no money, clever

Because they have entirely new management, and were extremely transparent with how they were fixing the issues that they had before. @@demigr0539

you should react to blue devils b 😝😝
react to crown pls
No props and it’s awesome
The use of no props goes to show you don't need them for GE let the music speak for itself it's not always about props .
React to BD 2013
react to highschool marching bands
minute in views off, bro 3 1 fell
brainrot
I wish all DCI and Marching bands (HS) would go away from props/electronics (audio and digital screens)/synths.
