Just want to say thank you for the video! I just had my first soft soldering session today and all went well thanks to you! I trained first on a bad and old alto sax, the Eb guard was detached, then I went on the same issue with my Mark VI baryton. Both solved very quickly and neatly. Lastly I managed to attach a peg holder on the bell of my bass clarinet. I'd had these issues for many months, and they are now solved. Thanks again!
It's best to clean off the old solder down to the tinning at the very least, and cleaning down to bare brass to remove all the old solder would be ideal.

Love the video. The small Stay Brite kit says that the wire is silver solder. Doesn’t that make it hard solder and not soft solder?

Can lead-free solder be used on older instruments that were soldered with leaded solder?

Do I use solid core solder or can I use Rosen core or Flux core, does it matter
