This says volumes about how much you care for Jetty and the discipline needed to travel with her. Let's face it kids, Jetty is like your child and you love her!
EXTREMELY well done! So much to think about however you've provided candid honest information about cruising with a pup. BTW, Jetty's my favorite dog I've never met! Priceless information for dog lovers, thank you for that.
Excellent information Sierra. the other thing that people should be aware of is that if the worst case scenario happens and you have to be rescued at sea, the Coast Guard or any rescuers are not obligated to rescue your pet along with you, so people have to be prepared to make that terrible decision.
Heyo Sierra!! End of this month, we are going to buy our sailboat and living at her full time with our dog and cat! Your video is very helpful. Thank you for sharing all the details! 😊 We watch some of the sailing channels but you are the best. So energetic and positive. I hope we can meet you guys somewhere in the future.
I am 70yrs young and have had many dogs in my time. About 5 months ago I had to put down the best dog I have ever had. Her name was BC and she was a Basenji/Aussie Cattle Dog cross. Nearly the same size, color and markings as Jetty. She went nearly every place I went. She only barked when she sentenced danger or when joyous in play. I rescued her from the pound, and knew from the beginning she was very smart. I only taught her with one word commands and within one or two tries she had them down. Jetty has that same look, the one that lets you know, all is well and good!!!
Just here to thumbs up and comment to offset the tool who commented that you guys are pompous. Ha! Never could a word be further from our opinion of you guys. Keep doing what you're doing.
Great video! You described everything to a T! That sad face you made when Jetty was giving Katherine some love!! Very cute. Jetty is one of the coolest dogs, riding on Billy's back while snorkeling. She loves adventure, best companions.
Great video as always! Jetty is one lucky pup to be sailing the most beautiful waters with her family! She is a sweet pup and we hope to take Sailor as far as we can when cruising! Always a great idea to have a back up plan if the dog rules change.
Billy and Sierra! I love your all's channel. I've been traveling all over South America with my Vizsla for over 2 years now. Now at the airport in Cusco, Peru heading back to Colombia for 6 months. Keep living the life!
We've been traveling almost entirely by plane. 11 months in Colombia, 6 months in Brazil, 6 months in Argentina, 3 months in Lima, 1 month in Cusco. We were planning on staying in Cusco a bit longer, but because of flight restrictions from the Coronavirus we are heading back to Medellin until it settles down. Once we know what's going on with it we'll be going to Ecuador, up through Central America, and then probably making our rounds again to the areas we missed. I've had very few issues. She travels in the cabin with me.
Thank you for this video. I hope to be sailing soon. My 4 pound, 12 year old Chihuahua loves to travel. She adapts to just about any enviorment. What a shame governments have to be such unreasonable pains in the ass when it comes to traveling with a dog. Traveling into Mexico with her has been fairly easy.
Excellent information!!!! The only thing I would add is get your dog crate trained. Dogs by nature "den-up", they find or dig dens that are secure place to hide/defend. Throw a blanket over a crate and clothes that smell like you on the inside and you have instant den. Make it big enough for her to barely turn around and no bigger. Now if she must travel she has a familiar and safe place where she feels secure. It also is acts like a "lee cloth" in rough seas. On second thought in the tropics I would not cover the crate so they have better ventilation
So nice to see you love Jeddy so much and take her everywhere you can. I so, so much love her allready!! Please give her big kisses and hugs like she did to you in the end of the the vid♥️🐾
WOW!!!!!!! Sierra really well done article. We take our Aussie to the Bahamas with us and echo everything you said. Thanks for taking the time to outline carefully all the concerns. Good job!!!!!
This is a great topic, since we have a 3 year old rescue that will be going with us on our future boat. He loves going on our current 20’ bow rider, in fact he gets upset when we leave without him! Thanks so much; I’ll read your article!
You can easily make a cool insert for the life jacket out of a cooling towel. And there are great gps trackers to ad on the colour for this scery dog overbord scenarios. Wishing ya calm Sea and fair wind.
WTG Sierra, you "Rock". Make more video's with you doing the narratives. I know you would rather that Billy do it, but everyone like's you so much, we need your voice on camera. I am glad I found you both. It's been very entertaining and nice to travel with you guys without leaving my home. I'm sure there are many people who have similar health issues that can't fly or travel but do enjoy the footage you both bring to this channel. Make it a great day. I bless you three on all your up coming passages.
Great video, this is such useful information for us as we plan on cruising in about the same areas as you and also have a dog. Thank you for doing this one.
Jettys really a great dog sometimres you just think of her like shes another person. Very imformative video Sierra i was glued to my phone lol y'all have fun and be safe
Great presentation Sierra. Long time subscriber and I remember back in the beginning that you didn't like being on camera at all! Lol. Y'all have come a long way.
Nice video and if I were in your position of traveling it would be very informative. I did notice on another channel "lazy Gecko" that she mentioned the chip as well but discovered some of the islands did not have a chip reader or one that would read there chip so they purchased there own aid in get port entry easier as well as pet treatment on that island. As always Sierra you do a great job of compiling and providing helpful information for those interested. Have a wonderful travel time aloha.
Wow Sierra! What wonderful information! Jetty is one lucky dog... I'm sure she's glad she is not one of those suburban dogs who lay on a couch all day! Dogs need a job and Jetty has a good one. As for seasickness, tell her not to read as much :) do you think she gets landsickness? Landlegs?
Thank you for the information! I am wanting to eventually figure out how to get a sailboat myself. My current dog doesn't like water at all, but he is 11 or 12 years old and only weighs in at about 8 lbs. I don't even know if I will pull off buying a sailboat in his lifetime, but I am a solo female so having a big dog does sound like a good idea. I am thinking of my next dog being a standard poodle, they love the water and are good guard dogs and also very smart breed! This was good information and I will be checking out your blog on having a dog on a boat for more details. If my little guy does live long enough for me to move onto a boat, I don't think it will a problem because he has been a leashed dog his whole life and he was a full-time RV'er in the past. He is small enough to and loved to jump into his bag/purse... LMBO! Yeah, I know... He is spoiled rotten! I do love following you and seeing you do this on a catamaran that didn't cost a million dollars or even 500K...

Hi Sierra great job with this video, unconditional love is what you have doing what you and billy are doing with jetty. Keep moving and I will keep watching and soon I hope to meet up with your little family when you meet up with you bigger family in june thanks johnnyb.
How did you teach Jetti not to drink the salt water? The ocean while swimming? My dog loves our boat , but we only stay in fresh water, and my dog swims and drinks .
Jetty has never even tried to drink the salt water strangely enough. Uncle Marlin who you may have seen in some of the videos loves to drink the salt water and it definitely does not sit well with him! 😳
My last dog, i talked to her so much that she really understood things I said. It took a few trips but after telling her that that water wasn’t hers, she understood the good water was near me. I always told her what was hers and what wasn’t.
Great info guys. What kind of big dogs do you see? We have a Newfoundland. Beautiful girl, loves the water, and born swimmers, used as rescue dogs by the coast guard. Do you see any cruising?
How does she get in and out of the cabin? I am looking at living aboard, and have found a boat I like. The companion way isn't very companion friendly, and I'd like to find a solution that allows my pooch easier access to the cockpit area without taking up an load of space.
You should mention the Jetty page more often. We are subscribed to your channel and this video is the first time I have heard about it. Great job on both channels. One question though. We have a pitbull and are worried that some countries may have breed specific restrictions. Do you know if any of the countries you spoke of do?
Bahamas does and I believe Grenada off the top of my head but my article includes the countries I found and the breeds that are restricted. I think the best option is having your papers potentially say mixed (with a non restricted breed)!.. because I have seen pits in both the Bahamas and Grenada and I believe that’s how they got away with it. Some counties do require you to see the department of Ag vet but other than that most country officials would never actually see the dog just look at the papers:)
We will be travelling by sailboat with our 2 cats, We did all our research for the different places we want to visit with their different requirements ( Almost a full time job just compiling the info ) it will be more than 500$ for each cats for their vet visits, ouch.
Thank you for sharing that. It isn't easy figuring out what to do. Jetty is awesome. DOGS ARE AWESOME! We also have a Cat name Liam (my son). I think he would love a boat before Harley (my daughter). Harley does love the wind in her face though. She loves hanging out the window in the car. We actually had to go out and get a harness that straps to her harness so my baby doesn't fall out. I use to take her on my scooter with me. I use to put her in a doggie harness (like a nap sack) and she would be in front of me so she could see what was coming. I think that's where she fell in love with the wind in her face. I so wish I had a side saddle for my scooter so I could continue to take her with me. She goes everywhere with me. She is my Therapy Dog. All legal and documented. It cost me $350.00 to get it all done. We both suffer from anxiety and we work well as a team. If I leave her home. One she throws up and two I get absolutely NO loving when I walk in the door. She stares me down saying HOW DARE YOU LEAVE ME. Lol lol lol lol Sorry for babbling but you know how it is with our kids. Always bragging about how awesome they are. Hope all is well with the entire family. Please stay safe. Keep up the awesome vlogs. Thank you again for sharing your journey with us ❤️♥️♥️♥️. @@Tulasendlesssummer You have to watch her nose. Just like us, That is a vulnerable spot for a dog. Followed by ears and stomach. Given that Jetty has 'floppier ' ears and I don't see her laying on her back a lot, I don't think she is at too much risk there. But it doesn't hurt to keep an eye out!
Thanks for the info but we still don't understand your arrangement for where the dogs go to the bathroom on the boat. Is there a specific location with an absorbent mat?

As Jetty ages, trips to the vet will become more frequent. She may get sick with something.. I've lost 2 dogs to lymphoma for example. If that happens, I hope you can be close to a good vet. Look what happened to the Wynns with their cats..
It’s a good thing that the World Health Organization has determined that dogs can’t get the Coronavirus and are allowed outside...what that means is....”WHO let the dogs out” 🎼🎼🎼🤣... (humor is the best medicine and we could all use some!) stay safe and give Jetty a big hug 🤗❤️

I have not traveled out of the states with our dog Zeke but he does love being on the boat.Thank you for all of the invaluable information!
Thanks for watching!! I hope it helps!
What about fleas and tick medicine? Do you need it once you leave the states??
absolutely!! I would stock up before you leave. I usually do a 12 month supply from petmeds.com there are lots of ticks down here!
Not sure I could do it . 👍
Ps. Did Jetty ever get seasick?
Great video 👍
Thank you!!!
Please come to spain
Pretty much all countries they have been are offshore paradises. I definitively see a visionary criteria picking countries here :)
Thanks 🙏
Your dog is adorable 🥰. I share videos of my lil Macana 😊
As Jetty ages, trips to the vet will become more frequent. She may get sick with something.. I've lost 2 dogs to lymphoma for example. If that happens, I hope you can be close to a good vet. Look what happened to the Wynns with their cats..
John Schneiter I am staying young forever! But if anything did happen I will be in the very best vets hands 🤗
awesome thanks Sierra
You are very welcome!
I really liked this video, I won't say why though as it would hurt Billy's feelings : )
Gene Berry because I made an appearance??
I love Jetti
Is it not easier to get a pet Turtle? I hear they are the man’s best friends too. And taste like chicken, if need be....
Thumbs up #444!🥳
Thank you for sharing Jetty's Journey!🐶🐾🐳🌊⛵Is Jetty afraid of fireworks or thunder?❤
#davesandersstepdaughter 🏀
Jetty is usually fine with loud noises thank goodness! she's not a fan of people that talk with their hands and feet though 🤣
Great
It’s a good thing that the World Health Organization has determined that dogs can’t get the Coronavirus and are allowed outside...what that means is....”WHO let the dogs out” 🎼🎼🎼🤣... (humor is the best medicine and we could all use some!) stay safe and give Jetty a big hug 🤗❤️
Tha is !!!
The true captain of Adrenaline has four leg's. just saying. :) The first mate is a beautiful young lady and the swabbie well we know who that is., LOL
How dare you refer to Jetty as a dog. What you forgot to say is having ever lasting love for your dog. I also have a recue (Boston Terrier) and she is my sweetheart. Thanks for showing us your love for Jetty.
I should have referred to her as the queen!
Jetty is an amazing little girl
I love you
