The resilience of some pianos can be quite incredible! My family moved overseas and put ours in storage, just a simple upright Yamaha. We covered it up nicely and it was kept in a dry place. Ten years later after taking it out it was still in perfect tune. I couldn't believe it.

My teacher was so touched that she said with tears in her eyes she wished I’d play tango like that one day. I never did, sadly.

Once we had a tuner over and he finished tuning our piano and my grandma told him to play a piece on the piano but he told her "we weren't taught how to play piano.. we were only taught to tune it" it was so embarassing because my mom had to apologize to him 😅
I love Yiruma so I’m not mad. Plus it goes to show the simplest thing can make a big difference! I recommend something from The Piano or Pride and Prejudice. My favorites are the Heart Asks Pleasure First and Liz on Top of the World.
That piano went from honkytonk fun to orchestral beauty! I love seeing work like this! I doubt it could be fixed but my step-grandpa has a 100 year old piano thats out of tune and has even dropped its total pitch by 3 semitones, I know it probably couldn't be fixed and its probably BEYOND repair but I can only stare and think of what that piano was like in its hayday.

I think it’s the coolest thing that after the piano is tuned, not just the pitch of the notes changes, but the entire sound!
what changes is the harmony. (we are used to the way it should sound, so it bothers us when it doesn't)
