I have done this in the past and it might be time to do it again for the same reasons that you set out. What I found when I did it, is that when I began to expand to other foods once the reset was over, I was able to really TASTE the food and be satisfied quicker with my meals. Green peas tasted divine, oranges and grapes tasted like candy! Corn suddenly became something that I found tasty because I could appreciate that it's just a little bit sweet. For me anyway, the reset really did exactly that. It reset my taste buds.

Russet potatoes cooked in an Instant Pot are moist and lovely; not dry at all like when baked. Immediately after cooking, put on a large plate and cover with a cotton tea towel to cool and set. They are soooo good cold or reheated in whatever way. The glycemic count is also lower after cooled.

I've been high protein for LONG Time with no results. However, earlier this year I became very ill for couple of weeks and could only hold down potatoes. I ate them for breakfast, lunch and dinner and that was the only time I saw the scale move. I absolutely love potatos of every kind so this would be much easier on me than the freaking Keto that will eventually prove unsafe due to metabolic syndrome it's been proven to cause.

I probably only made sweet potatoes 2 times in my life because around here we mostly eat normal potatoes. I gave them another chance after watching your videos and I just can't believe it - my sweet potatoes caramelized and my baking sheet was covered in some sort of caramel I couldn't believe how goooddd they were tasting! perfectly baked thanks to you, I guess I never knew how to make them xD no oil or anything else. I almost cried while eating them. Not that they only taste sweet they also have a nice smoked aroma and they also remind me of pumpkin pie. unbelievable how simple this is. and no oil! What a dream hahaha. THANK YOU! You changed everything for me. Your videos are so eye opening. Chels! It's Vegemite in Oz, never Marmite! Aargh. I have just started a potato reset to diminish the significance of food in everyday life. I'm not a fan of sweet potato so am using mostly kestrel potatoes. I steam a large batch in the instant pot then dice without cutting through the bottom. I smoosh them down and cover with some salt and pepper, parsley, green onion and the juice of half a lemon. It's delish, but super easy and uncomplicated. So I go.....

As an older Kiwi now living in Western Australia, I so miss my Kumara. It is possible to get it sometimes but too expensive for my very limited income to eat often; for me now it’s a very occasional treat when available. I so envied your generous use of them. So I checked the price at NZ Countdown and was shocked to see even there it was listed at $12kg. And you don’t get many for a kg! Also, when I was young growing up in the Wairarapa the predominant spread used was Marmite though Vegemite was available so I found your comments on the spread interesting; obviously change has occurred there. In Australia Vegemite has always been more popular as far as I can tell.
Thanks for your videos; I find them practical and encouraging. 🙂

I thought when you had to do the potato diet, that's all you're supposed to eat, strictly, but I can see it not being bad to combine other veggies with it. But I would think w/the soy milk and curry sauce and all of that, would be too much to consider it just the potato diet. This is something I've been meaning to try for years, but I'm such a finicky eater that I get bored easily w/food and figured I couldn't stick to just potatoes for a month straight. I've seen the potato diet guy, I think he really kept it that simple. But if I can do it more like how you did, it would keep me interested and not tired of eating them. I really love potatoes as a nice, starchy food that gets me full easily, so I want to give this a real try after Christmas.

19:00 Really good advice right there that I'm trying to implement more. I'm trying to give up drinking alcohol, and it's been a struggle even though I don't hardly ever binge drink, I still drink regularly and that's adding weight to me over the years, so I'm trying to lose what I've gained and not get the strong urge especially after work to have a beer which leads to 3 or more and then I regret it the next day. Also trying to stay vegan too and that's been a challenge for years for me to stay pure. I think eating more starch based foods helps me like what Dr. John McDougall writes about in his starch based diet.

What different "non-starchy vegetables" did you include? ( it looked like there were a lot?? ) I'm more familiar with how Penn Jillette did it ( book - PRESTO ).

So its not eating potatoes that results in weight loss (hopefully its fat loss)..its about limiting the foods you eat to potatoes and other veg while simutaneously abstaining from all other foods whether whole foods or refined or processed? Yep, removing the processed foods, fruits and other high glycemic index foods from the diet will ensure you dont unduly spike your blood sugar which tells insilin to come deal with it. Periods without spiking insulin means you dont store fat. Bazinga fat loss on a full tummy of nutrient dense potato and veg. Woohooo, brilliant 🤗

Lately ive been worried about eating to many potatoes. I lost ten pounds when i went WFPB over a year ago. Then figured i might as well quit smoking since i was eating healthy.... and then gained back 12lb. 😬 Im proud that a quit smoking but my weight has been plateaued now for about 10 months and I keep thinking my metabolism is gona stay stuck on 'slug' speed forever 😔 A couple of weeks ago i had a meltdown because pant shopping didnt go how I had hoped. I've been down on myself ever since and stressing that i eat too many potatoes. This video made me realise that potatoes are probably not the problem. So thank you. Im gona take a step back and re assess my habits.

@@ChelseaMae Hi there! Hope your doing well. I' ve been doing some thinking about where my problem could be. Your plateau podcast and then the NEAT podcast were both super helpful. (Huge fan of the podcast btw 😉) Im pretty consistent with eating whole foods. With the exception of weekend chips (crisps) and those i cut in early november. I definitely need to up my movement and I found the NEAT podcast had some amazing food for thought. And finally, while im eating mostly low calorie density im going to add extra non starchy veggies to at least my lunch and supper. Hopefully ill see some changes. 🤞

Well, not that potatoes is bad but you dont really start burning fat untill after all the carbs are used up & potatoes is like all carbs. Its a bit like all those "powder" diets being nearly 25-40% sugar & other carbs. Not that you cant loose weight on a high carb low calories diet but the body usually adapts fast to the smaller intake in 3-4 weeks tops & the weight loss stops.

The potato or sweet potato itself is not fattening (only 350-400 calories per pound); it’s the crap you put on them that’s the problem! I’ve lost over 97 pounds eating tons of potatoes and sweet potatoes, but I never put cheese, butter, bacon, or sour cream on them. Nor did I cook them in oil. THAT’S where the fattening calories come from!

I did the potato diet to the T. At least 6 weeks never cheating. And cheating was A bite of something my son had. Or a pretzel. No desserts, no globs of food or processed meals…. No oil, no fats…Absolutely nothing happened. I added some veggies and rice for a while. Then I added some beans. Its been 3 months. Nothing has changed. The difference could be I am not young ( 60) & metabolism is slow. Light exercise a few times a week. No sugar or gluten. Felt fine but weight remains. Weird.

Let us ask some serious questions: What was the weight (in pounds) before the potato diet and after? Also the Body mass index would be interesting to know. Without such hard and measurable facts somebody can claim anything.
