    The story of the Penn Jillette's weight loss is, as you might expect from a Las Vegas entertainer, quite extreme. In fact, it was the radical nature of his diet that made the prospect of losing weight so attractive. After consulting with his doctor, who wanted to surgically remove a portion of Penn's stomach, a moderate diet was no longer an option.

    Penn Jillette is a cultural phenomenon as a solo personality and as half of the world-famous Emmy Award­-winning magic duo Penn & Teller. His solo exposure is enormous: from Howard Stern to Glenn Beck to the Op-Ed pages of The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and the Los Angeles Times. He has appeared on Dancing with the Stars, MTV Cribs, and Chelsea Lately and hosted the NBC game show Identity. As part of Penn & Teller, he has appeared more than twenty times on David Letterman, as well as on several other TV shows, from The Simpsons and Friends to Top Chef and The View. He co-hosts the controversial series Penn & Teller: Bullshit!, which has been nominated for sixteen Emmy Awards. He is currently co-host of the Discovery Channel's Penn & Teller Tell a Lie and the author of God, No! and Presto!

    Penn Jillette: I lost over 100 pounds, a third of my weight. I was probably at my heaviest. You don’t ever weigh yourself at your heaviest but I was probably over 340, certainly around there. And now as I sit here in front of you I’m probably about 232. There’s a fluctuation of a couple of pounds, it goes back and forth. That’s a lot of weight. And I did not lose it for vanity. I was pretty happy with myself fat. I didn’t mind being fat. It wasn’t a big deal to me. I didn’t mind how I looked. But my health was getting bad. I didn’t even mind how I felt very much. I didn’t mind not being energetic and stuff. But I started having blood pressure that was stupid high like, you know, like English voltage, like 220 even on blood pressure medicine. And I have two young children. I’m an old dad. My daughter was born when I was 50. So I’m 61 now.
    And my life expectancy, the actuary tables were crashing down and the doctor said that I had to get a stomach sleeve. It was a wonderful moment because it then gave me the option to go crazy. If you’re going to surgically do something to me to stop me from swallowing that means I don’t have to worry about doing a sane diet. I can get nutty. And being given the option to be nutty was all I needed. I realized that not only am I not good at moderation, I also don’t respect moderation. Anyone I know who’s able to do moderation I don’t like them. The people I respect and love are people that go wild. I mean I don’t want to go into Kerouac here but the mad ones. No one brags about climbing a nice little slope. You brag about climbing Everest. So once my friend Ray Cronise who I can Cray Ray, once Cray Ray told me that I could lose the weight but it was going to be really hard, it got really easy. Once you make something a challenge, you make something I can brag about, I can do it.
    So I wrote this book about me. It is more first person singular in it than in a Donald Trump speech. I don’t’ write about you. If you take medical advice from a Las Vegas magician you are an idiot who deserves to die. You have to do this for yourself and with your proper medical professionals. That being said the first thing Cray Ray and I wanted to do was change my way of eating. It turns out everything about eating is habit. It’s all habitual. You think you have a natural inclination to like grilled cheese or donuts. Not true. All we eat is habit. So I wanted to take a couple of weeks and change my habit. And one of the really good ways to do that that worked tremendously for me is what’s called the mono diet which is just what you think from the root, eating the exact same thing. And I could have chosen anything. I could have chosen corn or beans or whatever. Not hot fudge but anything. And I chose potatoes because it’s a funny thing and a funny word. For two weeks I ate potatoes, complete potatoes - skin and everything and nothing added, nothing subtracted. When I say nothing subtracted I mean no skin taken off but also no water. You can’t cut it up and make it chips in a microwave. Don’t take water out of it. Leave the potato completely - so that means baked or boiled and not at any mealtime.

      Exactly, this quote is gold. When I decided I wanted to lose weight I stopped drinking sweet beverages. Now I'm uncomfortable when somebody puts sugar in my tea, it just makes me feel sick, haha. I don't like candy and foods with a lot of fat that much either now, what I eat is almost the same as before but I cannot take the amounts I was used to then. Once you decide to let something go it's easy to live without it, making the decision is the hard part.

      @@fastfootedone Joke's on you my grandma made epic apple pies and we would just eat a whole baking plate of it in notime with grandpa. Sweet pastries were in our everyday life back then and since I cut out most sugary things from my daily life (no gummies, no donuts, little to none soda, etc) I wouldn't even want my grandma's pie. Sure I'd eat a slice or two just because of her, but that's it.

      He literally prefaces the whole thing with "if you take medical advice from a Las Vegas magician, you are an idiot who deserves to die."
      And yeah, you're kinda right (though muscle mass BARELY has an effect on resting metabolism compared to the same mass in stored fat--what additional muscle mass does is increases your caloric expenditures as a consequence of activity, plus protein synthesis is itself costly in terms of energy), but at the end of the day it's simple physics, and as long as you maintain a caloric deficit, you will lose weight. Exercise can contribute to a larger deficit, but it doesn't sound like Penn really needed that early on if he was losing 0.9 lbs a day, which is extreme to say the least.

    I read Penn's book, I tried the cray ray diet and failed. I went Keto/IF and succeeded. Without Penn's encouragement to go a little bit crazy I never would have found my way. For that, I will forever be grateful.

      As a moderate person who lives with an impulsive person it's the opposite for me. I don't mind their faster pace as long as they're smart about it--but boy do they seem to resent me for my own pace?
      But when I buy something I'm SURE I want it and will use it. Meanwhile they've gone through like 7 different impulse cars, two different workout stations that they never used, five different lamps, etc etc etc. Yet I'M somehow a villain for knowing what I want and spending way less?! xD
      I think it's guilt. They feel irresponsible when their partner isn't spending widely like they do. It makes them self conscious! But whooooo carrrrres. As long as you're living in your means and get along does it matter? Get over yourselves and stop resenting other people for your actions.

      The worst way to lose weight is to "go on a diet". A diet is a set of rules. Something with a set of rules is a game. To win a game, you can cheat or you can find ways of legally twisting past the rules. That is the most natural way for people to act. But with the diet game, whenever you win, you gain weight. Don't play the game; don't follow or fight rules; just do what is sensible and helps you achieve your goal. You don't need rules to tell you what that is.

      @@VanMorgue After I lost 30 pounds, my wife worried about me and started requiring me to eat some protien every day, which slowed the weight loss considerably. Still, I'm losing the fat slowly. Every time five more pounds disappears, I add a five-pound can of Crisco to my stack in the corner. There are eight of them now -- representing weight I no longer must carry around all the time. Oh, and last night my wedding band slipped off in the dishwater. 😎🖖

      My husband went to a hypnotist here in Missouri who performed in Vegas prior to coming to town. My husband was a 3-pack a day smoker, heart attack, oxygen: he was hypnotised by this man. It has been over 15 years ago, and he has never had the desire for a cigarette. I sat with while he was hypnotized, it was amazing, and it worked. This Vegas performer saved his life. So, I dunno.....

    I went through similar and lost 60 lbs which took me from obese to normal. It is extremely difficult to keep the weight off. Over the years I gained back 20 lbs and now I'm trying to "reset" my cravings and lose it again. Penn disagrees with the word addiction but it really does feel like it sometimes. It's like someone who has done heroin and gets the full experience, gets addicted, then quits. It is so easy to get back into that addiction mindset. It's a life long thing.

      He lost the weight because he had a triple bypass surgery. It doesn't matter what he did he would have lost weight anyway.

      @@vitalityfox He did not have weight loss surgery. He lost it by eating two weeks of plain potatoes and then switching to a WFPB diet. If you read his book Presto!, he talks about how his doctor wanted him to do the WLS but he opted for a dietary change instead.
      Also, triple bypass refers to a type of heart surgery. The WLS procedure you're probably thinking of is gastric bypass or gastric sleeve.

      I was addicted to cigarettes. I quit smoking 10 years ago. My way of addiction is something you’re addicted to, completely divorce yourself from it whether it’s soda, alcohol, or certain processed foods.

      It is. Try drinking skim Milk for a few weeks, then try full cream, it will taste disgusting. Humans are incredible at adapting. But its your choice on what food it should adapt to.

      @@Holret If you're the parent, do it. And also: They're kids. They eat whats on the table. Maybe transition it slowly, but come on. Kids are stupid in many ways (and very smart in others) and need to be guided. Same like pets. If a pet is fat, you don't keep giving them the same food and going "Well, can't do anything! It doesn't want to change!"

    Great job on the transformation I started out at 225 than cut out soda and maintained 203-210 for a while and went on a diet and started just walking 30 minutes to an hour a day now I am sitting at 168 I got 14 pounds until I hit my goal weight and hope to gain a few pounds of muscle. You guys can do it 💙

    Thank you. This perspective helped me on my journey to lose 25% of my body weight using a different approach. I'm halfway towards my goal of 25% of my weight, but I've done that in six months. I will incorporate your emphasis on habit and accepting the inevitably of rare occasions when I eat something less healthy in making it the rest of the way to my goal weight.

      Do not eat: rice, potatos, flour products, or sugar. I lost 29 lbs in 9 months.
      Good luck with whatever wirks.... always remember your weight is a number; but how do you FEEL? If you feel good then youre doing it right.

      I lost 140 lbs in a year eating potatoes along with a whole foods plant based diet 5 years ago and have kept it off. I was low carb for 6 years and lost my gallbladder in an emergency 7 hour surgery that took 6 months to recover. It was impacted into my liver. My surgeon said 90% of his patients eat keto/atkins/low carb. My BP was always sky high and had bleeding gums. Upon my discharge he advised me to go enjoy a bowl of organic oatmeal and fruit. I’ve never looked back. You are right with your statement of - it’s how you feel. I never thrived eating low carb & now I do. BP is 117/76, blood profile is perfect & no more bleeding gums. Research Dr Esselstyn, Dr Klaper, Dr McDougall, Dr Gregor & Dr Goldhamer’s - The Pleasure Trap.

    A really motivating story. Although I am certain that method is NOT for me, I have been living the intermittent fasting way of life for 70 days. It is changing my life in a lot of ways similar to this story. None the less, thank you for the motivation and a demonstration of the passion to change your life.

    It's not just the mind body connection that Penn became nicer and easier to be around once he lost the weight, it was also the sacrifice he made to help his family, to be there for them, by taking care of his health. His HEART grew bigger. ;)

    "When you're losing weight, be a little bit like a bear" That is such a wonderful comparison. And such a soft way to talk about weight loss, a topic so wrapped up in self hate and loathing.
    EDIT: IDK why this comment popped off but people keep misinterpreting it. The part of the quote I was impressed by was the gentleness of how it was phrased, not the intricate little details of weight loss science.

      I think its because when you're making such drastic diet changes, its also hard to change exercise habits at the same time and can get overwhelming and then people give up. He's really saying focus on one aspect at a time and you're more likely to succeed.

      @@mrbouncelol No it is not silly because taking 2 challenges on at once when the first challenge is already exceptionally difficult is just asking for a total failure, regardless of whatever you can say about how much the second challenge will help you, and the consequences for failure in Penn's case were exceptionally high. He was in a near death state, it's not like he's in his 30s having a mid-life crisis after realizing his discipline was mediocre. Physical activity will also exaggerate your hunger desires, making it harder to diet, which is completely unnecessary since diet will do 90% of the work for losing weight. On top of that, exercise for extremely overweight people is not just difficult but at times painful and dangerous (even "just going for a walk"), whereas exercise post-weight loss is significantly easier and only takes a few months of wait time before you begin.

    Same here - the loss of all cravings vanished from dryfasting alone, and when re-feeding eating only one meal a day without any diet dogma - just eating what I liked. Plus the kidneys and adrenal glands performance improved, and I finally got off all glandulars from having a thyroid removed in 1971.

I watched the preview when it came up on my home tab and it actually drew me in - "so and so lost such and such amount" doesn't do that, but this guy certainly did and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to him tell his stories.

    I had a *similar* experience to Penn. when I started working in college, I had literally no time to eat most days. It was class, go to work, drive back to class. All day most days, from dawn to dusk. Naturally, I lost weight. Went from 250lbs to 180-190 and it would hover in that range for a while. Once I saw I wasn’t dropping weight anymore, I started exercising. Vigorously. Calisthenics, weight training, intense cardio. I was part of a boot camp program that literally simulated military boot camp and went to the gym on my own to hit the weights. I guess I was at the weight my body wanted to be at because I never dropped below 175, but my body composition changed dramatically. Much more muscle mass and much less fat. Just like Penn, I started to find certain foods repulsive. Mostly sweets and junk, not meats and such, but still. I left college and started working and with that the workouts ended and I put some of the weight back on, but even after putting on more fat I know I didn’t lose the muscle and me at 230 pre weight loss and post weight loss are two completely different bodies. I’m definitely down from my peak calisthenics and running performance, but my strength is still here (I’d say I’m actually stronger than I was when I was at my lowest weight). My stamina is still more than what it originally was, I can still crank out a decent amount of pull ups or push ups, and I’m nowhere near as winded as I was when running or jogging.

    Really good to see Penn again and a healthier version...he came to see me live doing stand up and he has a huge presence due to his height and weight. I agree with him about losing taste for meat and sugary crap. I had a gastric bypass and have lost over 100kg. My taste buds are more sensitive now and above all quality over quantity. Really pleased to see Penn explain his changes....its all about habits!

    My dad was 50 when I was born and he died when I was 33. I was so lucky to have him that long. Anything you can do to stay around for your kids will be appreciated. Good on you for making necessary changes.

    The same thing happened to me when I changed my lifestyle, I slowly lost interest for animal products, I first lost interest for cheese, then I went from beef to chicken, to fish and now I eat plant based, because that's what I want. 🌱 Well done, Penny! That's a whole lot of weight!

      Yea also recommend fasting, went from 340 to 220, mostly taught me self discipline and how fucked up I was eating, I used to be able to eat two whopper meals at lunch and still get dinner, now I eat just one sandwich (no fries or soda) and that fills me up for days.
      But damn you realize how many calories you eat daily and it gets ridiculous.

    I started dieting last year and now I'm down 105lbs(still going).
    My target weight is 175-180lbs, so I still have about 26lbs or so to lose.

    I read Penn's book and after trying keto and other diets, I got on the starch solution train. It's nice being able to eat without worrying about portions, counting calories. I made a list of what I like to eat and I clearly prefer carbs over fats. I get blood work tomorrow and expect lower cholesterol.

    Just my personal tips, no processed foods, whole foods, fruit, veg, nuts, seeds, meat, liver, fish, good oils, forest honey and dark chocolate are good for sweet treats, no bread or pasta, brown rice, fasting, Cycling, swimming and ground exercises, press ups, pull ups, squats, squat thrusts, Burpees, star jumps, sit ups isometrics, sprints no jogging, stretches, yoga. if you're struggling with eating healthy foods pack all the stuff you want to eat in a bag and go a long cycle until your far away from shops and takeaways, cycle till your hungry then you'll eat whatever you have. Go camping in the cold weather as well with healthy foods you'll get very hungry and eat whatever you have with you.

      Too expensive??? Do you actually buy meat at the supermarket? I virtually stopped eating beef about 3 yrs. ago because I couldn't afford it. Chicken and pork are more affordable but I rarely ate pork. And fish, unless it's farm-raised and thus very unhealthy, is very expensive too. A plant-based diet is only expensive if 1) One is on a tight budget and want to eat everything organic (I don't), and 2) consume a lot of processed vegan foods.
      Science cannot actually show that a "vegan" diet is unhealthy because a "vegan" diet only describes what people don't eat, not what they actually eat. It's really IMPOSSIBLE to determine which nutrients any given person is consuming or lacking, much less an entire group, just based on what they're not eating because it's not that hard to get the nutrients contained in animal foods from plant foods or supplements. To the contrary, the only largest study in existence which was done with the Adventists who are largely vegetarians (not necessarily vegans) showed they enjoyed much better health than "omnivores". And funny thing, what I've found is the exact opposite of what you said, lots of people, including myself, switched from a "balanced diet with meat" because it ruined their/our health and began feeling much better after going plant-based. I myself got cured from long-standing depression and anxiety and lost about 23 lbs. However, 1 year and 9 mo. later I'm still struggling to recover from all the damage decades of eating animal products did to me, and I was always very nutrition conscious, just couldn't afford to eat organic foods or grass-fed, free range meats, etc.

    For those commenting on his loose skin, keep in mind that he didn't just lose over 100 pounds quickly. He's also 63. Our skin loses elasticity as we age but the skin is a living organ. His skin still has a lot of shrinking to do, but he will probably look better a year or 2 from now.

      It depends on how long you had that extra weight. Skin does shrink a bit but I've got friends that used to weigh over 300lbs and now one fellow is about 180 and his nipples are still about 9 or 10 inches below where they are normally and his stomach looks like a giant tongue (very similar to that movie with Adam Sandler) and it's been about 6 years since he lost all the weight and has no belief that it will get better without skin reduction surgery.

    He's so right about exercise in the initial weight loss process. Just about all the people I know (myself included) who have dropped a significant amount of weight know that it's way more about diet than exercise. Now once you lose the weight, it's good to exercise so you don't look like a flabby ass, but anyone who thinks you can lose a ton of weight merely through working out is kidding themselves, and I think it's why a lot of people fail.

      He's very wrong. Exercise will not only help you burn calories, but it will make your body produce important hormones for the body. Not only that, if you have a lot of caloric deficit, you will not only burn fat, but also muscle.
      It's not important for an old guy like Penn, but for young people is very important.

      It's really not important if you're overweight. The reason so many people fail to lose weight and exercise is because they try to do both at the same time, which sets you up to fail out the gate. The most important thing for weight loss is diet, that's really not up for debate. You simply cannot work out enough to burn away all your calories unless you're the guy running a marathon every day. Diet's are actually more difficult than working out, and people really need to fix that aspect of their life before they try to add working out to the mix.

    This video has touched me in so many ways the fact that I no longer feel alone in my failing to keep the weight off and also the mindset approach to dieting is right up my alley. When he mentioned him being a father later in life made me feel better about being 36 with no kids. Even about thinking I can keep my mind sharp even if my body fell apart, i mean i could go on... I've never had a video so profoundly move me to make a change in my life.       Get a calorie counter app, first of all. That's been just as much help as anything I've done on my own. As far as food goes, I've kept my caloric intake around 1000-1250 per day. My basic diet revolves around coffee w/skim milk for breakfast, chicken breast tenderloins, boiled pierogies and a vegetable for lunch, and a salad with vinegar (no oil) for dinner. If I want cheese on something I use fat free cheese, and if I want a snack I eat fruit. Also PAY ATTENTION TO SERVING SIZES. You gotta measure your food sometimes, which seems awkward at first, but totally worth it. But honestly, what the key is is wanting to do it. Like 80% willpower, 20% dieting.

      ive been calorie counting. I've noticed I really like 1 meal a day. Dear all, please don't take my advice, I've only started my diet for about 1-2 weeks now. Not sure if im loosing yet. But I go for 1,500 calories a day of whatever the hell I want. Somedays I eat dominos bread bowl pasta. Somedays I eat 1,500 calories worth of macoroni and cheese. But thats all I eat. Hopefully I will be able to report back in a few months that Ive lost a ton of wieght. Hope so.

      I'm coming up on 100 pounds soon, 44 waist to 38, 4X to XL, by doing the Bone Broth diet. I feel better than I have in 30 years. I'm about Penn's size. I'm gonna try for 200 pounds, for a total of 145 lost. It's doable.

      Scrolled down the comments and saw yours by chance. I just want to chime in very quickly, although I could go on and on for hours or days about it. Just simply stop eating dominos, stop eating pasta and what is called "simple carbs", google it for detail. Just avoid rice, bread, dough, flour etc... no saturated fats, healthy fats only like nuts, avocado's, etc... Introduce a lot of lean white fish, or salmon(nothing breaded or deep fried). Use Extra Virgin Olive Oil when you cook. Turkey meat can replace beef in a lot of meals (turkey burgers, turkey shepherd's pie with cauliflower mash... get inventive). Also delete potatoes from your diet, in any form.
      Ok now I'm just rambling, but my point is if you change your way of eating and what you eat. No sugar, simple carbs, and introduce healthy choices, you will lose weight without "counting calories". It's true you need a certain amount of calories a day, but counting them is for strict athletes who need to cut weight or for a general rule of thumb so you can optimise your diet. Don't use it like, "oh a pizza is 1000 calories and 3 bags of chips is 500 calories, so I'll starve for the rest of the day and lose weight". Doesn't work like that, so I encourage you to stop that, and truly change your diet and your bad habits.
      I know all this through experience, I've myself lost 40lbs and maintained it. I calorie counted years ago, lost the weight and gained it all back. I hope you try what I'm telling you and change your life, otherwise I wish you the best in the future.

Unless if its your own animals or you know the farm very well, its hard to protect the animals' life style. If you are talking about health, it really depends on how much or little the person eats eggs and dairy.

      Spoken like a real magician. Addictive substances bind to the dopamine receptor in the brain. Alcohol, nicotine, narcotics, glucose (sugar). It's real, and it's physiology and biochemistry, not habit and not a loaded word, and not some political victim class thing. And eating potatoes every day doesn't get rid of it. You fight it every day of your life. People outside of science who aren't addicted will never understand that.

      I know exactly what it's like to be addicted to even sugar. When stopping sugar I suffered severe withdrawal symptoms and was sick for almost a week. Headaches, lethargy, body aches, etc. On some things, Penn is a pseudo-intellectual, lacking common wisdom. It's one thing to be fact smart, but it's a whole other ball game to be wise. He is a smart magician, though.

    My Son Aaron told me About this...He loved Penn what he does as well atheist, unfortunately. My Son didn't ever do this he DID pass away from being overweight NO HE caught himself but was in the hands of a medical team who made extreme mistakes regarding kidney issue. I can't believe I stumbled on this I remember my Son telling me about this potato thing and the success of eating well. Aaron was amazing, interesting, loving, intelligent as a electrical engineering. I lived this itvbrought me back to a time when my Son was having one of our conversations. Aaron I miss you desperately.💔

    No matter what he looks like, he is healthier and a better person (his own words) and he has done something amazing. I think the way he talks about it is exceptional, he's been humbled by it all. I found it inspiring that he isn't gloating about doing it, he's just really realistic about it! I hope he lives for a long time and stays healthier. I think he's got amazing balance and his skin will keep shrinking, so he'll look better as time goes on. I want to say well done to you! What an achievement!!!

    As soon as I lost the weight and started lifting I went from a straight C student to a straight A student. It was probably mostly due to increased discipline but what he said about the mind being directly affected by the health of the body is completely true.

      Sounds like its a socially acceptable way to keep the sugar high in play. Not super saturated like drinking sodas with twinkies, but eating fruit every 2 to 3 hours a day is living on sweets. Most everyone gets a mood lift with the free energy boost. This study is simply flawed by the concept that sciend things is smart: compartmentalize and close a system to see how it works. This is frankly nuts when it comes to a human in real life social and personal activities that all contribute to mood.
      Myself, and not equivalent to a study by any means, at day 10 of my water only diet, or as most know it: fast. My mood is excellent, but my energy is way off. I wish I could say its because I haven't yet adapted to feeding on internal fat vs. pizza and cuba libre's. But the fact is my cardio, recovery, and endurance are in the tank. Also breathing deeply gets me high. Hi have to adjust my oxygen intake to more, but going over the edge is easy. My conclusion is to stick with the medical analysis, your metabolism changes when you live on internal fat and unnecessary cells, and that's all.
      So switching to berries every two hours is just boosting your metabolism to a sugar/carb energy supply. People feel good when doing life is easier, your energy is up does this. Losing weight and building muscle does this too. But in the end, beyond that and often more importantly, your social network can make anything feel better and improve your mood regardless of your limitations. Peace.

I would suggest not commenting on things you don't know anything about. There's nothing wrong with eating 6+ servings of fruit a day. To compare something as nourishing as fruit to table sugar is plain ignorance. There's scientific evidence people with plant based diets who have healthy gut flora are less likely to be depressed. Eating clean is directly linked to your emotional state. Stop spewing nonsense.

    Heard and took the video message about 4 months ago. It serve to trigger my endeavor to lose weight. Having a track record of yo-yo weight gain/loss. I felt like some of the key opinions and suggestions highlighted by Penn served to finally give me the right set of mind to change my personal eating habits. To date, I have lost considerable weight, feel better and stronger to continue on my positive eating habits pathway. I am on week 1 of the "potato only diet". Its been tough but I can now assimilate his description of not wanting "refined, meats, greasy, high sodium foods." Thanks for the upload.

    I did this with keto to a similar degree. The biggest problem is always sugar. Once you get rid of that, the rest all kind of falls in place naturally eventually. I too eat whatever I want. Which is usually about 100 grams of beef with some salad, an occasional chicken wrap, some grilled goat cheese.
    The first two weeks of detox can be a struggle but it's all downhill from there. After a month your habits change completely. I don't have cheat days either. If I eat some bad stuff occasionally it's all part of the plan, but the things that I eat that are bad now are still the pinnacle of healthy foods compared to what I used to hoover up before.
    Probably the biggest change came from understanding that hunger is not an alarm mechanism that blares loudly so you do something to stop yourself from dying of starvation. What most people call hunger is actually just your body craving sugar. The idea that you should eat 3 or 4 meals a day to be healthy is such a huge misconception. In reality you can and should easily do just one meal a day, maybe two. If you eat meaningful, healthy and goos food, you won't feel like you're starving yourself. Depending on your weight, you will probably feel you're overeating anyway, at least eventually, when you get used to the actual way of eating. When I was at my heaviest of around 170 lb I ended up eating only two small meals a day, sometimes one. I wasn't forcing myself, I just started to listen to my body after I made sure it is no longer blinded and deafened by sugar. It will tell you all you need to know. I lost 35 pounds in a little over a month, so fairly similar pace to what was mentioned in the video. I didn't have as much to lose so I plateaued arouns 130 to 140 lb and I've been keeping that for the past 2 years.
    It's true. I eat whatever I want. It's just that what I want is no longer anywhere as ridiculous as what it used to be. If you give your body a chance to breathe and reset, it will know what to do and know what it wants. Don't overthink it and just listen.

    This is the simplest, most effective, most obvious way I have found to stay thin:
    1. Don't do a temporary diet. Change your lifestyle.
    2. Before you eat, decide what will make you feel 80% to 100% full. Don't stuff yourself past being full, in the 120% range.
    3. Stop buying sugary drinks. This includes soda, juice, chocolate milk, etc.
    4. Plan to eat dinner at least 3 hours before bed. Don't eat anything after dinner.

    Whole Plant Food diet is AWESOME. I NEVER thought or believed it would work but just like you I really enjoy it and splurge on something different now and then but the cravings are gone! It's amazing. It's so funny how you shared that you lost the taste for things like fast food or donuts, etc. Again, I never thought that would happen and part of the enjoyment of my journey is learning about results like yours and seeing how mine have followed. There's really something amazing about the WPF way of life.

    I agree. It's amazing how good whole plant foods and fruits taste once you kick the salt/sugar/fat trap. I've lost 33 lb so far. And it's true the cravings for the "bad stuff" really do start to go away. I use the Pound of Cure eating plan. It has a two weeks tough detox period, but you can eat a variety of foods.

      When you get fat your skin stretches. When you loose weight your skin can't un-stretch so you end up with loose skin. All that loose skin makes him look older now.
