And indeed lucky are those who have found you and get to learn from you. I think the programmers at Cinema 4d responsible for programming the modeling tools ought to thank you for showing the optimum way to use those tools. Thankyou MR. POLYGON PEN.
Just when I thought you had nothing else to teach us, you come up with the single best UV unwrapping tutorial I’ve ever watched. Thank you for continuously sharing your broad and deep knowledge with us.
@@polygonpen Happy new year, first of all! Question for you: when you first unwrap at 2:00 how do you start with a clean view and avoid showing all polygons?
Thank you, happy new year! Before recording I removed all the polygons, I forgot to mention it. Just sdelect all the polygons and then click on ''Reset UV'' in the UV shelf in the middle.@@NotTheLarryDavid
And let me share a short interesting story of how I found you! I had fallen love with the polygon pen tool for the amazing and a host of things it could do as a single tool. It was one tool that embedded many tool's functionalities in itself. And so I wanted to see all the tutorials regrading the pen tool. And that is when I typed Polygon Pen in the youtube's Search bar. And guess what :) the rest is history :)
Great video, but it seems like some elements are not properly unwrapped. Why didn't you unwrap all those circular islands (2:49, 16:23, 18:53, and others) as rectangles? You would not get any critical distortion, and you would save a lot of texture space. Also, you added some unnecessary seams. For example, the pieces at 3:18 and 4:20 could be unwrapped as a single piece. The same goes for the islands at 15:07, 22:41, and 24:30. However, it's already controversial.
If these circular islands you first mentioned were unwrapped as rectangles, I am sure there would be distortions. Yeah, they would take up less space, but you would have to spend more time on them, so I think it was not worth it. I never thought about rectangularizing these kinds of circular islands, what you said might be a better approach. I will try that out. Thank you very much for your thoughts and feedback. I will sure check these out!

You addressed so many of my anxieties with unwrapping anything more complex than a cube. Amazing work.
Awesome!

Don’t you need 1-2-3 for navigation?
Yeah but these will make you even slower.
@@polygonpen Great idea, its so slow to change modes, what do you use instead for navigation?
@@oliverdelprado9419 ALT+mouse, typical way, I use 1, 2, 3 for component selection as you can simply change panels by using middle mouse.
