A little late on the pinned comment, this video had a WILD production cycle. So I've wanted to do Claymore since I read it, we contemplated it for Hellmouth in October 2020 but if you watched our Punk Rock Cartoons video (you should) You'd probably know why that wasn't possible. Anyway, Figurama hit us up earlier this month and were like "hey, you wanna do another statue offer?" and the fact that it was Claymore just worked perfectly (they know us pretty well, great people over there.) Ty and I are both working on future projects for Bonsai but we put them aside. I brushed up on the lore and had Tyler read the manga, we watched the anime again and then the winter storms came. The WEEK we were to start production Tyler lost power for seven straight days, making me: A, worry about him; and B: shoulder writing the majority of the first draft of the script which was about 5-6 pages. However since Tyler had JUST read the manga he had a lot of details I needed and i also wanted his input on what I had started, but we could barely talk! It was awful. when Ty got his power back we had 4 days to finish the script AND the video. Luckily Figurama took puty on us when we asked for another day, but we did that because the final draft ended up being 12 pages long and we weren't able to start editing until MONDAY. So basically, Ty and I produced a 45 minute video on a series we know is cult and wouldn't pop off right away in about two days. Why? Cause we love anime and if it's a good series we're gunna do our best! (and also cause we had a deadline lol.) Anyway, we are both obviously very tired now, but I promise you we have some SERIOUSLY ambitious projects coming up so get Hype (and join the patreon -_^) -Mike
Facts indeed ! I like seeing it getting traction recently, yt algorithm seems to help. Especially when you think about the success of Goblin Slayer for example. Problem is that they fucked up so hard the original ending of the anime with the Priscilla fight that we're probably never gonna get a continuation, or else it has to be a brand new one. Manga is dope too.
@@ODSTOninersIxTwOCall me mad if you want but I watched Titanic again recently and i was like "hey the female mc is kinda badass going against the norms of the early 1900's". I think there's a ton of good feminist stories that existed before that we named it that way. Not even sure it has more helped than not to give it a name. Sure thing Claymore could also be advertised that way even though it would be insulting to reduce it to that.
It used to be talked about back in the day around when it came out and the years following (2007-2012). It was very popular. Claymore was in the top 25 on MyAnimeList. It's just old now, the younger generation doesn't know about it.
Man claymore is one of those anime that you'll never forget once you see it. Great action, dark themes, inspiring heroes, and actual strong female leads.
Stop with the strong female lead thing ok they been around for years you people just don't look for them. I can't wait for all the new videos thar are going too pop out when jojo part 6 comes out and people start saying what you say acting like they never Existed at all We And they never put in the work to look into it. All so are we forgetting about Medaka Box ? No one ok just me ok.
You've GOT to read the manga too! The anime version of Claymore is great but it only covers like 1/3 of the manga, and the anime ending is much different than the actual one. It is in the second half of the manga (7 years after the fight in the North) that things get even spicier, our main characters getting the upgrades which they earned, more badass fights,... And the ending is perhaps one of the best manga endings I've ever seen!
thats bullshit ive watched like 200 anime that are quality with very few quality female characters let alone leads theyre usually shit.@@lonelywolf5659
@@donaldzuramp4404 the manga is so sick. The art is top tier in my opinion and the end fight with the villain is one of the most satisfying and beautiful piece i have ever seen
@@PkmnLovar did it ever get finished? I started reading it when the DVD's started coming out. Then one year the releases became super sporadic. At one point I waited 6 months for a release then a whole year for another then I stopped caring.
A modern Claymore adaption has the potential to be huge. I think we're in the right sort of landscape for it as far as what kinds of series are currently popular. If Madhouse took a mulligan they could absolutely knock it out of the park.
The promised neverland is a very successful manga, the first season of the anime was a big hit both critically and in popularity, and they simply cut out 80% of the manga and created a fcked up very short second season, without any intention of properly adapting it. Do you really think "we're in the right sort of landscape" for properly adapting manga? The only anime which gets a proper adaptation, at least hopefully but they can still fuck up if end it prematurely, is Attack on Titan, and it is the most popular and critically acclaimed anime in the modern era both in Japan and even more in the west, and a global phenomenon. Something has to be that huge to even have a chance to get a proper and finished adaptation. Japan only cares about anime as marketing for the manga. It doesn't matter, that the anime industry is just as big now, they are stubborn, and traditional people and slow to change their way in the industry (in every industry, that is why they are lagging behind in innvoation now), hence their mindset didn't change about that. We are still far from the point when anime studios will understand, that anime is a far bigger and more accessible form of entertainment than manga, and animes shouldn't be marketing tools for manga for boosting sales, but a standalone form of art with huge profit potential. Edit: It is a joke, that in Hollywood it is a serious problem, that everything is a reboot and there are no original ideas anymore, and they still make billions of dollars, and at the same time Japan doesn't even try to touch or reboot the Jewels they have, and mostly animate new things to boost up manga or LN sales. Both mindset is seriously fcked up, something in the middle would be more advantageus.
When it comes to Berserk-like anime adaptations, The one I always suggest, that I never see anyone else mention, Is GunGrave....... like seriously aside from the violence(which is hard to top berserk) GunGraves story structure and themes are almost identical to Berserks Golden-age/black-swordsman arcs.....
@@whoisspencer a Short manga series called “Blaster Knuckle” which is directly inspired by Berserk and Kentaro Muria, I also believe I read that the Mangaka is friends with Kentaro, so there is that. It is a fun but quick read. Its premise is like if you Took the Black Swordsman arc(prior to the golden age prequel) and transfixed it into 1800’s wild west setting. Its action packed, dark, and violent. But its not very deep, and again its a pretty short read. But it is in all regards a surface-level adaptation of Berserk.
@@whoisspencer For Anime that is bloody and deep like berserk, Im going to have to think for a bit. “Goblin Slayer” may fit your liking. I just finished “Noblesse” aswell as “The Misfit of Demon King Academy” But those two are more similar to eachother than they are to Berserk. Oh and dont forget “Dororo” the 2019 version, that is probably the darkest on this list. Movies such as Vampire Hunter D, Ninja Scroll, and Blood Reign: Curse of the Yoma. “Black Clover” is my new favourite Shonen, Even despite its flaws as being very generic at first. But It starts to grow on you quickly and you dont have to spend 30 episodes watching before finally getting hooked into it unlike, lets say “Hunter x Hunter”, for example.
@@whoisspencer Oh and I have one final mention that deserves more attention. An obscure fantasy reading recommendation that I dont even think has a wiki, but is great. Its like a Hybrid of a Manga/Manwha/Comic since it is fully coloured, but I only ever seem find it on free Manga websites. Its called “Skeleton Soldier Couldn’t Protect The Dungeon”..... yeah long name, Skeleton Soldier for short. Its A Fantasy ‘Isekai’ type of story, where the main character was like a typical NPC that for some reason suddenly gained a consciousness and free will for whatever reason(still trying to figure out the why) but every-time the MC dies, he resurrects back at the beginning of his “awakening” but keep all his memories from his previous “life” Its a really fun read. Im not sure if the world all the characters are inhabiting is an actual video game or virtual world, its not stated yet. But the Main character can like view his stats in this pop-up window that only he can see. So that is the one weird thing about it, but it helps to better illustrate his character growth upon his journey, while also helping to reveal all the inherent universal “laws” that govern the world they inhabit. But nobody but the Main character seems to possess this ability, so its not understood if that is reality or not.
Claymore was popular when it came it out but that was a long time ago and people have moved on since. I will say that very few anime or manga have been even close to as good as it since but that's just my opinion other people absolutely love Attack on Titan (a show that I liked initially) but I now find over the top and mediocre. Everyone has different tastes I guess and are looking for the next new thing and Claymore is both an old thing and something that not everybody would have liked when it was new.
@@inlikeflynn7238 That's very fair, I'm an AoT fan, but also new to anime as a whole. To me it's one of the best political fiction series I've ever seen. I wonder if I'll still look back on it fondly.
Claymore is so underrated. The Theresa of the faint smile arc was AMAZING storytelling. First manga I actually finished because I had to see the finale. They stuck the ending.
I always felt that a big reason claire manages to survive and ultimately best Priscilla is due to her being mostly human. She's able to tap into more yoki power but still maintain her humanity only because shes more human than the others. She can get closer to a full awakening than anyone else ever has and still come back only because her human side has a much larger sway over her than other claymore.
I feel it's unpopular because the anime exists. Gantz has a good CG film that might push someone to read the manga. If I saw this anime before reading the manga... I wouldn't know who Cassandra is or how awesome she makes playing limbo look.
@@topperDL My mother is a teacher at a regular public school and sometimes she orders comic books. Sometimes kids actually like to read but they don't know it yet because of the stigma so manga and comic books are a good way of easing them into it
I like how well Rakis character was written. Some people hate him but I like him. He's human and people forget that. He's basically us in that world lol.
i don't hate Raki but i also found him annoying, his purpose was to always hug Claire and bring her back from fully awakening. other than that he was whining all the time and naive in an annoying way. When Claire was with Theresa she was not half as annoying, she was just simply there and happy to be with Theresa. Raki was at times even obnoxious.
@@phillipmartinez2436 wowwww. i never knew anyone hated Raki. to me he was just a kid who had nowhere to go and succesfully sought out his goal of getting stronger for Clare and I think he was a great character
@@sean6919Yes he was a kid but I’ve seen “kids” done better in anime, the dub version is even worse, VO is terrible. But literally my only complaint with the anime, he needed to be toned down a little bit because it feels forced.
I personally prefer Claymore over most other mainstream monster-slaying manga like Demon Slayer and Attack On Titan. The art style, details, and writing feel so much more unique and deep. Why did other manga got animated for multiple seasons and not Claymore? It deserves a full reboot like FMA Brotherhood!
They actually went into depth to explain the transformations. A lot of details that can be annoying to sift thru, are well paced with unveils. The gap between lets say the #5 Claymore compared to #8 is bananas. Can also be stronger Claymores dont always mean the best.
I actually don't understand why people compare Claymore to Berserk. Yes there are some overlapping themes but they don't even about the same thing. But then again being compered to Berserk is the biggest praise a manga can achieve so Im not even mad.
Well, ignoring the dark fantasy setting loaded to the brim with shapeshifting man-eating monsters, let's compare Guts and Clare. -Both are wielders of oversized swords and are extremely proficient in killing monsters that initially seem way out of their league. -Both were orphaned at a young age and had rough childhoods until they they found companionship with renown warriors; Guts being accepted into the Band of the Hawk (the most feared mercenary group in the Kingdom of Midland), and Clare got adopted by Teresa (the former First-ranked Claymore warrior) -Their brief period of happiness was ruined when an individual betrayed their comrades, traded their humanity for power, and killed the protagonists' loved ones (Griffith and Priscilla). -Both were initially motivated by vengeance, seeking to kill the monster who took everything from them. -Both had one of their arms cut off, but it got replaced with an upgrade (Gut's cannon/crossbow arm and Clare received Flora's arm/windcutter technique). -Both spend a good portion of the story protecting a hapless love interest (post-eclipse Casca and pre-timeskip Raki). -Both have the inherit ability to sense when danger is approaching (Gut's brand of sacrifice bleeds whenever demons are around, and Clare has the ability to read the flow of Yoki in opponents and predict their movement). -Both run the risk of overexerting themselves and going berserk in their "super modes" which grant them more power at the expense of their motor cognition and sanity (Gut's Berserker armor will eventually overtake his psyche if he uses it too much, and Clare's half-yoma physiology means she'll transform into an awakened being if too much of her Yoki energy is exerted), though they've been able to break out of the state of madness (both Schierke and Moonlight Boy can suppress the armor's od and allow Guts to take conscious control of himself, and Clare's friends were successfully able to halt and reverse her monstrous transformation more than once). -Both started off as bleak and unapproachable characters with a loner mentality (likely due to refraining from forming any more attachments to others after losing their closest companions), but along their journeys they open up to their allies and come to appreciate the bonds they make with them and finds themselves grateful for having their individual strengths to rely on. And a bit more of a minor one, I kinda think Clare's symbol on her sword kind of looks like the brand on Gut's neck. And there's probably some other shared features from both the characters and the story that I missed. So yeah, I love Claymore and I wouldn't call it a ripoff or anything by any means, but the similarities are pretty hard to ignore.
@@kinjorex101 well I understand your points but is Claire is deep and layered character as Guts. If yes, then I really like to watch claymore. And Griffith and Guts relationship is far more different than Priscilla and Claire. Well your explanation did show that Claire could be a deep character like guts. So I quite excited to read it.
@@bartofii oh, there are many shows like that. Then why you don't call everything is Berserk or in some situation, berserk is ripoff. The reason why Berserk's Guts is great because he is one of the most deepest, emotional and layered badass protagonist I ever see not big ass sword. (Which is by the way the accumulation of experience which guts has in his whole life.)
@@HerMi.T I was pointing out that there are in fact similarities between the series... both have a stoic main protagonist who's main identifying traits are big sword and berserker rampaging with a great deal of demon slaying madness. It's like how Simpsons, Family Guy, and American dad all have the same build up of family in weird hijinks with unintelligent husband and semi competent wife. Yes, you can dig deeper and find the nuance you want and whatever... fact is passing glace has two quiet main protag's going apeshit on demons with an oversized hunk of metal while their decidedly less than capable person of interests sit there unable to really do more than scream and cry.
I remember first reading Claymore believing it would be a collection of shorter stories switching between different claymores as the main character. Would have been an interesting concept but what we got was definitely better.
When I discovered Claymore it quickly became my favorite anime. I find too much anime takes a lighter tone than it should for the story. Claymore gets it right.
The dub was top-notch. The action was extreme and I was on the edge-of-my-seat with every fight. And with all the strong, independent female protagonists who had actual arcs, this should’ve been held as inspiration for writing the strong heroine character. On the other hand, it’s also hilarious in that all those pretty Claymores and not a single chapter/episode that takes place on a beach or a bathhouse. Claymore slumber party! Not even as a non-canon omake!
@@mikaruby7196 “Why, hello, weary traveler. My! You must be so tired. Please come in from the cold. I sense a winter’s wind heading towards us. I am Clare and this is my husband, Raki. And please allow me to welcome you to The Claymore Inn. Would you like something eat? Raki’s an accomplished cook. “You needn’t fear for your safety. I assure you that very few dare to assault this place. We do have the occasional Claymore come in to rest. Oh, the noise outside? That must be the children. They play a lot outside. Ah, Teresa! Daughter, we have a guest. Please prepare a room.”
one thing that needs clarifying is the awakening and why it's different for men and women, it's not a sexual thing at all, that's just the analogy that Miria uses, it's more about being able to delay gratification, as the awakening provides a feeling of total euphoria. Men by nature take more risks, are quicker to anger, to violence, and impulsive behaviour, ambition and a desire for power and physical superiority are also natural for males meaning more succumbed to awakening than women, a large majority of men have issues with instant and delayed gratification, which is the difference that Miria is getting at, she just uses the metaphor of sex as it's simpler to explain. What Miria is getting at is that women take longer to awaken and can resist the urge to awaken better than men due to in large the biological hardwiring of the brain, however individual personality and temperament does play a part as we see with Islay, who awoke voluntarily. Being a warrior is basically like having a second voice in your head offering you more power, promising you everything you've ever wanted, and more, women just seem to have a better time ignoring that voice on average, as we see through the manga, we never hear much about the first female generations of Claymores but they could of been just as unstable until the organisation refined it's selection and training methods
To be honest I've never had any issues with identifying the girls, the mangaka made a great effort (more visible chapter after chapter) of diversifying the body shapes and character aside from just the haircut. But I can get it. I would also have had the OST on the plus side of the anime, the music has still been one of my all fav's now and I still listen to it on the background sometimes. Especially the ones in the woods. Damn, that's some art. Will remind you of the "Earth" theme, somehow.
Still, theres only so much differentiation you can have when 80% of the cast have the same hair, skin, and eye colour by design and are all peak fitness (so less body type variation) The most recognizable characters for me was that one chick with the super short hair (like buzz cut) and the girls who were jacked like Arnold. Also when they started wearing different outfits helped a lot.
Same, I was quite impressed that they ahve such distinct personalities, hair, faces and voices that even with the palette I could tell them apart. It's a little harder in the manga, though.
Actually distinguishing them just with their hair was enough, plus it's hard since they set themselves such strict necessities for the character design (eyes and hair color) yet it always manages to do all unique hair styles that easily make all of the characters different
Just wanted to add that Claymore is the rare all-female cast that feels organic in the story, and not just done for a male gaze. It’s great to have an action horror series with a cast of 99% women, each with individual personalities, squabbles, friendships, side stories, journeys and endings. I wish that wasn’t rare, but it sadly is, especially in anime. While it does sneak in the odd stupid bit of costuming, for the more part I felt the nudity was more artistic than exploitative, and tied into the themes of the story. In a medium saturated with sexism and sex sells mentality, it was like finding an island after a shipwreck. I still think of it dearly. Maybe one day it’ll be finished as an anime, or maybe even adapted in the West.
It seems to me you are lazy and don't want too put in the work too find a certain manga you like even though this are 100 them being made every day and been around for years. And here you come with this ya ok.
@@TH-camCensors It's worth jumping to the manga if you've invested enough to watch the anime through - the last bit with Claire vs Priscilla in the anime is just there to end the anime on a "completed" note while the manga does a time skip and then goes into it's second act. I have my quibbles about the overall ending (pending a revisiting), but even with that if you like up to part in the anime it is totally worth finishing the story.
Glad to see someone talking about Claymore finally - this is one of my favorite properties! I still come back to reading/watching it every so often. And I'm still of the olden days of Narutofan and trolling through fansub/fanslation group sites to get the goods..anyhow it is far past time for Claymore to get a proper anime revival!
My top 3 manga has been Claymore, NANA and Zero In for almost 2 decades now. Its cool someone is talking about this, but most people probably don't know Zero In exists.
This is one of my all time favourite anime. It's up there with Hellsing, Cowboy Beebop, Trigun, Black Lagoon and the like. To me it was utterly ground breaking, I watched it first in 2009 and it was like nothing else I had ever seen. It is ONE of the only TWO times in "Japanese anime" a female Protagonist is written seriously.... and not.... purely for the male gaze. The only other one being Balsa from Moribito- also excellent anime btw. Brutal, heartbreaking and totally unforgiving it leaves you with a cold wrench in your heart. Also the art and the world building is gorgeous.
I read the manga a few weeks ago after watching the anime twice. Claymore has grown on me so much and I feel that this video is the icing on the cake. I can finally end my journey with a smile. Thanks Bonsai!
I remember back when it was still being written and me checking once every few months if the sketchy manga site I read from had somewhat translated it.
Claymore as well as Gungrave, Berserk, and Gantz were some of the first to make me appreciate anime deeply. I so wish this anime would be continued and finished. Definitely in my top ten and criminally underrated especially it’s manga form.
The mangaka’s previous work, which is called something like Angel Densetsu if I remember correctly, is perhaps the funniest high school manga I’ve ever seen. The man has many talents.
air gear and claymore, the 2 anime that we all just say "PLEASE READ THE MANGA", and everyday i pray to jeebus himself for a remake or 2nd season, they are masterpieces on their own right
I second Air Gear. Oh Great's mangas always get low quality anime (though air gear has good ost) when in terms of art, he is definitely up there in top 10 most incredible. Some pages are just jaw dropping
Claymore was such an amazing manga, it's a shame that the anime had to go for an alternate ending. Teresa will always be one of my favorite characters, she's just flawless.

26:15 Bruh that Nier A music popping up out of nowhere gave me the chills. Thanks for the video, Claymore deserve to be more known. The manga is an absolute piece of Art. Loved your interpretation of it.
One of the aspects that I love about Clare is that: while it is true that most of her OP abilities came from being inherited, she definitely earned those abilities with sheer willpower, hard work and mental fortitude. Take Wind-cutter and Quicksword for example. Irene said that even with her right arm, Clare could only use the Quicksword at about 50% of her speed and power at most. After the battle in the North, while suppressing her Yoma energy to avoid being detected, it became impossible for Clare to use the Quicksword openly again. So Clare self-taught and perfected Flora's Windcutter technique without using any Yoma energy. In other words, she did it with her own base strength and power. It is important to note that Clare is only 1/4 Yoma unlike other warriors who are half Yoma half human. Which means that even with the same training, Clare is naturally weaker and slower than the other warriors. That all goes to prove that she tries harder than anyone else. And in the end, thanks to her greatly improved base strength and speed, Clare was able to perfect Irene's Quicksword technique. Even Priscilla herself commented that Clare's Quicksword is equal to that of Irene's, with the only drawback being that she could not use it for too long without straining it, since it is not her arm after all. The girl who started as the (seemingly) weakest warrior, became one of the most powerful woman in the series through sheer efforts, willpower and learning from others. Now that is a badass character!
I’ve watched this anime a bazillion times over the years and recommend it to everyone! So glad you did this video. And now I’m excited about picking up the manga! Keep up the great work 👍🏾

This manga and anime (even with the worst ending) is one of my favorites!! Your review was really awsome, the conection that you make betwen the necessite of the organization to isolate the claymore in order to control them and our reality of social bubbles, blow my mind ! Excelenty work
thx bro for your articulate explanation of claymore, I am completely resonate with you when you mention your concern of the impact of isolation. u echo my belief. words
I have never ever Thought about claymore stands on isolation but it makes so much sense when you think Miria was the first or one of the first Claymores that cuestions the organizacion because Miria was unknowingly forced to kill her friend Hilda who had an aweakening that loss made Miria question them and deciding to take them down Miria's goal of destroying the organization kept her from fully aweakening same as Clare wanting to be around and protect Raki , we could say Deneve caring nature towards her fellow warriors and Helen love for life, food and Buzz, even Jean loyalty to being a human , kept them from aweakening too so at the end all you needed was a goal in life something to live for to keep you from aweakening and making you able to use your youma powers to the fullest if you check almost all the Kakuseisha were lonely people that aweakened cause they had nothing to strive for more than figth and gaining strength , of course we have cases like the case of Riful and Dauff who aparently had each other even before aweakening but i think we can explain that with Dauff aweakening cause he is a man (and also an idiot) an Riful joining him cause she loved him other than that all kakuseishas usually figth and die alone and the claymore and other aweakened beings that beated them had someone to trust or fall back, Miata had Clarise, the twins had each other and the phantoms had their fellow warriors. So the organization never understood that they already had their weapon when they created the flemale claymores but didn't wanted to of failed to recognize the mind and the soul of said weapons and supressing that made them fail and fail again.
the biggest irony is that the organization technically succeeded in making a superwepon at the ending but it was so glossed over in the video that i have no idea if the organization still exists at that point of the story or what happens after the final battle

(and also cause we had a deadline lol.)
Anyway, we are both obviously very tired now, but I promise you we have some SERIOUSLY ambitious projects coming up so get Hype (and join the patreon -_^)

Its called “Skeleton Soldier Couldn’t Protect The Dungeon”..... yeah long name, Skeleton Soldier for short. Its A Fantasy ‘Isekai’ type of story, where the main character was like a typical NPC that for some reason suddenly gained a consciousness and free will for whatever reason(still trying to figure out the why) but every-time the MC dies, he resurrects back at the beginning of his “awakening” but keep all his memories from his previous “life”
Its a really fun read.

Literally one of the few FINISHED Seinen manga and it wrapped up all it’s themes and story beats so well.
When I watched this I wasn't expecting the most mind breaking part to be Tim's surprise reappearance, lol.
-Both were orphaned at a young age and had rough childhoods until they they found companionship with renown warriors; Guts being accepted into the Band of the Hawk (the most feared mercenary group in the Kingdom of Midland), and Clare got adopted by Teresa (the former First-ranked Claymore warrior)
-Their brief period of happiness was ruined when an individual betrayed their comrades, traded their humanity for power, and killed the protagonists' loved ones (Griffith and Priscilla).

@@bartofii oh, there are many shows like that. Then why you don't call everything is Berserk or in some situation, berserk is ripoff. The dub was top-notch. The action was extreme and I was on the edge-of-my-seat with every fight. And with all the strong, independent female protagonists who had actual arcs, this should’ve been held as inspiration for writing the strong heroine character.

@@WhiteScarsEmo YOU! Yes you. You. Are. A. Fucking. MADLAD!!!!! I bow to your awesomeness!!
one thing that needs clarifying is the awakening and why it's different for men and women, it's not a sexual thing at all, that's just the analogy that Miria uses, it's more about being able to delay gratification, as the awakening provides a feeling of total euphoria.
Still, theres only so much differentiation you can have when 80% of the cast have the same hair, skin, and eye colour by design and are all peak fitness (so less body type variation)
The most recognizable characters for me was that one chick with the super short hair (like buzz cut) and the girls who were jacked like Arnold.
Also when they started wearing different outfits helped a lot.
I really don't understand how sum dummies can't tell the difference between Claymores. Like for real or they have a 10 IQ or they read that on braile
Same, I was quite impressed that they ahve such distinct personalities, hair, faces and voices that even with the palette I could tell them apart. It's a little harder in the manga, though.
The outfits are similar but not equally, the people must put attention on details!!

Unfortunately, the end of anime diverges way too much from the events from the manga. The best we can hope for is a complete reboot.

@@LMGunslinger You don’t realize how dumb you are 😭 I guess I can’t blame because you don’t read, but any manga reader could easily tell you that it’s way faster reading a couple chapters of manga than watching an episode of anime. Let’s say you’re watching one piece, you could easily cut the time it takes to absorb everything that happens down by half if you read the manga. And yes Ik, there is filler in the anime, but only a few episodes surprisingly.
"Belief is only intellectual prison" that's a very narrow BELIEF!
After the setup, now I get why you led with the Bloodborne music. Jesus, if Dark Souls came from Berserk then Bloodborne obviously came from this.
I had a post on reddit tellin people bloodborne and claymore are oddly similar and got ridiculed
@@dpouch03 for me it both combine from beraerk and claymore
I like how Clare never becomes OP. Because that completely goes against the shonen rules.
At the end of the manga, she (technically) is not the one who defeated the final villain.

I have been telling people about Claymore for years. I’m so happy to see you all give highlight to this anime. I hope everyone takes a look, and I wish Bonsai Pop the best.
Stay safe everyone
Keep up the great work 👍🏾
The shockingly opposite life paths that Mike and "Tim" took is the complete embodiment of
"Which way western man?"
This is one of those shows that I passed on back in my "Ew, it looks ugly" phase of anime fandom. Glad to know it's something worth going back to.
Glad you outgrew that.
I always thought it looked badass lol, the style reminded me of Hellsing a little bit
One of the most underrated series. Ever. I wish they could go on with the storyline or create the future of how Claire changed changed everything 🥺
My sister and I read Claymore as kids, it's kinda nice seeing all these years later people are finding or still enjoying it.

I feel so old hearing someone talk about claymore but im so glad that there's a video talking about it finally. I remember reading the manga but never saw an ending at the time...
This is a show i always tell people about when i bring up action anime nobdy knows about. I randomly picked it up when i was a teen and i still go back to it from timt to time. Glad someone is speaking on it. Its a real hidden gem.
the claymore manga is AMAZING, one of my favorites of all time.
i remember watching claymore a long time ago and boy did that cliffhanger give me the big sad. it was only in earlier this year that I read the manga and it was so damn satisfying to finally have read this awesome story through and through.
It's nice to see Claymore getting some recognition. I feel that it is not talked about enough.
Or at all, where i live anime/manga are very popular (to an annoying degree) and yet no one knows about it. I personally think that it's one of the bestand influential works of Dark Fantasy ever penned (both West and East of all medium) and criminally underrated. The recent slight resurgence of Claymore contents (The Figurama statue and this video) made me very happy to be honest.
@@protato911 I agree, and I am happy to hear about this mild resurgence. I'd love a reboot that follows further along in the story than the first series did.
Anyway this channel could take a crack at "Dante's Inferno: An Animated Epic"
Enjoyed the anime and when it was left in a cliffhanger I decided to read the manga and fell in love with the art
Claymore is one of those hidden gems. I've only ever watched the anime, but I've heard great things about the Manga

I find their hair as the easiest way to tell whos who, regardless of perspective... the lenght, the cut, and form (straight/wavey/braided)... & yes im referring to the manga...
I've rewatched claymore 3 times now in my life. Never disappointed. I found it on Netflix back when I was 15 or 16, I'm 26 now. This anime has stuck with me.
Just rewatched this last weekend, forgot how much I loved this series
You guys deserve a bigger following, its not even funny how much quality, and work is in your videos.
Man I’m so glad Bonsai pop is back. I fkn love these guys
I still don’t understand why this series/manga isn’t very popular, extremely underrated and deserves more !!

Yooooo, I watched Claymore on Netflix years ago and basically nobody talks about it, glad to see it get some love! You've all but convinced me to start reading manga just so I can read this one.
I don't ususually comment on videos especially when they are about anime that ive watched. I primarily find most anime reviews to mundane and cookie cutter is the order of the day. I really appreciate this video because it has told me that I made the right decision subing to this channel during 2020 because of the unique takes and the deepth of research and exploration of themes. Vampire Hunter D is also another anime that brought me into the fold early on and to see you cover classics like this really makes me happy and lets me know that other ppl watched the same things that I did. In the even that I don't get the chance to become a patron like I should be I extremely appreciate the sacrifices that have lead to this channel and will continue to like and share all of your amazing content in an effort to bring the comfort and support you and your team deserve.
FINALLY someone properly talks about Claymore!
I loved reading it month after month growing up.

So glad someone is giving this series some much needed love I picked it up in my high school library and fell in love with it ever since
Claymore is my favorite anime AND manga series of all-time. I have watched it dozens of times, bought it on DVD & then Blu-ray & have a drawerful of Claymore accessories, from necklaces to armbands to bracelets, & have wanted tattoos of Clare & Teresa's symbols along with the statue of the twin goddesses for like, ever.
Such a masterpiece.
Claymore deserves more recognition. One of the greats in my opinion!
i love how you used the bloodborne soundtrack at the start, it really sets the tone for the berserk's genre
This manga and anime (even with the worst ending) is one of my favorites!! Your review was really awsome, the conection that you make betwen the necessite of the organization to isolate the claymore in order to control them and our reality of social bubbles, blow my mind ! Excelenty work

thx bro for your articulate explanation of claymore, I am completely resonate with you when you mention your concern of the impact of isolation. u echo my belief. words
One of the best manga I’ve ever read! The ending was a little abrupt but still satisfying.
Also, Claymore's soundtrack rocks. 2000's had some epic orchestrated anime soundtracks.
This is literally the first manga I read and completed. I found the end of the anime so unsatisfying, and yet so awesome in everything that came before that I just couldn´t avoid reading the manga, especially since a friend had it.

I was 10 minutes into the video, paused it while i watched claymore took like a week or two to finish it then came back to finish the rest of the video. def worth it. thank you for sharing all these animes with us. we all appreciate it
I finished the manga when I was 16 yo, I goes to some searching about this manga elsewhere and found almost nothing not even a youtube retrospective style video about his manga, which led me thinking was this manga overrated or generally people were too lazy to finding gems similar to claymore,
this manga totally goes over my head after quite sometime until stumble upon this video, I thank you for making this video and give Claymore the credits it deserved for so long
This needs a reboot! This is such an underrated anime.

My favorite anime & mangá ever! The conclusion of the history was perfect for me! Hope they put this on anime in the future
How peculiar, I actually just finished watching this last night!
Garret who will win the fight Claire ( claymore ) or dr octopus ( marvel ) and why?
Google is spying on you.
I’ve been watching this anime since I was little and recently finished the manga. It’s one of my favorite shows/manga and I have never gotten tired of it throughout the years. Thank you for your video (:
Claymore getting love in 2021? What a pleasant surprise
I watched Claymore when I was in high school & would’ve wished for more seasons animated at least, but now I have to read it. Curiosity to know everything now will eat me alive 😂
Do IT!
Also the anime is actually rather faithful to the manga up to the start of the northern battle but its ending is way off to the manga and its an abomination
