    Wayne rocks. He was the guy who turned me on to ergonomics for the guitar. He once told me "You can look cool or you can play in a way that you won't hurt yourself." I've kept that in mind and passed it on to my students for the last 12 years.
    Somehow though I think it won't sound as sweet when I play it as when Wayne does. =)

    I recently purchased a new T5Z in a natural color and fell in love for the first time with a guitar in many years. My only difficulty is deciding if I want a second T5Z as a backup or a T5 because this is going to become my main guitar for solo gigs. Just wondering what everyone's thoughts are. Should I save and get a backup of same guitar so the set flows as planned or purchase a backup which would be thew older T5 which would still function should i break a string but give me a different sounding backup guitar in a different color to add variety and new tones to set. This is for a solo gig using a looper. The reason I even posted is my favorite guitar in my small collection is my without a doubt my Godin Hollow Body Montreal with built in Fishman Wireless MIDI pickup called Fishman called Fishman Triple Play (FTP). Depending on my gig, my goto guitar is now a Taylor or Godin. I also love Teles. This is coming from a guitar player who played Les Pauls through Mesa Boogies entire career (40 years) . The fact that this young 53 year old could even spell MIDI is a small miracle. Not sure why I felt the need to post but it must be the need to express how much I love Godin guitars and also wanting feedback as to which guitar to get as a backup for T5Z. Same model or T5?

    An incredibly versatile, incredibly beautiful guitar showcased by an incredibly talented guitarist. I'm scared to look at the price tag though. Either way, you get a lot for your money.

    The clean sounds are really nice but I'm not digging the distortion sounds.
    It would be interesting to hear the guitar through a few different amps and pedals.
    Through the right amp/pedal/e.q. combination I think you could probably get some great distortion sounds.

    Great playing and a good demo of the T5. Just curious...what amp were you using in this demo? As you switched thru effects and distortion were those pedals or amp effects?

    Beautiful guitar. Just got an epiphone swingster hollow body. Just don't be fooled by all the possible amp settings and the foot pedal that he was using. And he plays really good too. He doesn't say what guage strings are on this guitar. The Taylor acoustic comes with 12 gauge, my epiphone came with 10 gauge, a solid body electric will have 9 gauge. I like the ephiphone because the hollow body, like this Talylor, puts out enough sound without the amp so a kid can practice at one in the morning without disturbing the house. My Swingster cost $750.00. I don't even want to hear how much this Taylor costs. I'd go into shock ! S

      +herve herve I own a 2007 T5, It came with Electric 10's, I called up Taylor to investigate the history behind this guitar, and while I had them on the line I asked them what strings they recommend, they said electrics correctly activate the humbuckers, Taylor designed the electronics to function correctly with the lighter gauge of electrics, however I think you should try both and see what you prefer. Hope that helps!

    What was the first song he played? It was very nice. It may have just been improvising though.

      +Damphampster This is a song that Wayne Johnson worked out. It's been a few years since we filmed this, but if memory serves us, it was something he did just for this video.

    My ONLY concern with this axe, having not yet purchased one, (and owning and loving a Taylor 514ce for 15 years) is the bridge. Why put an acoustic bridge on this? I dunno. My Godin Multiac Jazz has individual brass saddles, and has an amazing acoustic sound. AND great intonation as well. The intonation of this guitar/ acoustic saddle is the main reason holding me back from a purchase at this point.

    • @thdremily
      @thdremily 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Todd Morton I have an '07 S1 with in a quilt top, having the acoustic bridge creates a much more "acoustic" feel to how it plays, the action isn't going to be quite as precise as maybe some primarily electric players would want, I've never had any intonation problems with mine. Further more, the full bridge contact with the top adds a truly acoustic sound, albeit a much quieter one unplugged, but plugged in, it truly sounds authentic. Of course to know whether it is for you or not, you really should pick one up and give it a go before you buy. It's unfortunate that the big box music stores tend to shy away from carrying these as it's a high end item with a niche market.

      Thanks Ted Morris for the reply. Good advice. I've actually had the chance on 2 diff occasions to play a T5 in the last 3 weeks. One a Koa top, the other one a Maple top. Both sounded different. The acoustic sound of the Koa was very nice - not so much the maple top I played. Of course, could just be the individual nuances of the Maple top I played. But I def liked the electric sounds in both guitars. Keep picking'!
