Fireflies is another love letter from Dreamcatcher to InSomnia. Siyeon is Dreamcatcher's main vocalist and with her power and four octave range her voice always stands out. She almost always gets the adlibs. Since this is a recorded version the sound engineer has adjusted the volumes of each singer, but when they sing live there is no way to mute Siyeon. She dominates with every part she sings.
The first chesty bit is Yoohyeon with Handong doing the lower harmonies with Jiu, not Siyeon, the last iyagi is Siyeon and every harmonized chorus has Siyeon singing a different higher harmony than the rest of the members (she even defaults to the higher harmony when singing it live because she does most of the backing and hidden vocals). Prior to Odd eye Siyeon used to be doing the heavy lifting in their albums vocally with Yoohyeon lending her vocals. Now Yoohyeon pretty much shares the main vocal role with backing vocals on non promotional tracks, strong adlibs and more, the rest of the members have been dabbling into the lead vocal role more and more since vision era. Dami's singing parts have gone up since her shadow collab with Siyeon where she credited her in strengthening her core singing skills.
Every album we see more and more how much of a powerhouse vocalist Sua is, but this one also gave us Handong's first song with top in the line distribution. 😭
Ballads of Dreamcatcher? There are a lot of them, right from the start and a lot of them are excellent (e.g. "Always", "Shadow - slow version" [official speecial clip])... Many can be found on the official DC YT page, mostly as a "special clip" - also various solo songs ("We all lie", "Entrancing", "Winter", "For"...) But “Fireflies” is actually one of the best.
We (Somnias) are so lucky, the last comebacks are insane, they show their talent and the result on stage is mind blowing. (S+i = She so She-yon, only for the "I", it's SuA)
