    I have a 2008 model which I have owned for 10 years. Now has 80k miles on the clock. Absolutely superb bike for commuting and/or touring. I did a 3 week 4500 mile trip to Arctic Circle in 2018 when it had 65000 miles already, and it never missed a beat. Only problem - 3 charging units to date! Even after 10 years I still find myself wanting to change up on the motorways with the low gearing..... but it does mean you can poodle around in 6th gear at 30mph with no problem (perfect for commuting).

      Sorry for the slow reply, been travelling for work!
      I've had this one now since this video really, absolutely love it and have put up about 13/14k miles on it. Use it every day for work, about 80 miles a day, love it. That's a nice trip!! I did Scotland last year :)
      I've so far had no issues with the stator, but I do use expensive fully synthetic oil and keep it slightly above the full mark as a lot of people recommend.
      Haha yeah I know what you mean, I always kick for 7th, I do think the gearing suits it very very well for normal riding :) I've used it on track too and it was great!

    I'm only 5'8" and i found mine super comfortable.. it definitely suits shorter riders too. That engine is designed to take the power of a full on fireblade (175bhp ish..) so it's going to be bullet proof for a long time! 👍

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pretty impressive from Honda tbh that they made it comfy for all sizes, I just did about 1600 miles around Scotland and was happy out.
      Yes indeed! The internals might be a bit softer but still, waaaay over engineered for the power it has now :)

  • @scootyman2974

    I have one of these and it’s the only bike I have had that I cannot bring myself to sell! It does everything fairly well but nothing bad. The engine is tuned for the low to mid range without having to rev the nads off it. The only weak point is the stator tend to burn out. There is a Honda fix of a new stator and less magnetic flywheel that cures the problem. I paid €450 for the kit from Germany and I haven’t looked back. I hope you bought it and enjoy for years to come.
    Best regards and subscribed

      I did indeed buy it and am absolutely loving it! ANother definite weak point for a big fella like myself is the rear suspension, although I have a sneaking suspicion mine had failed anyway to be honest!! Would you have a link to that item? I saw the other comment first :) Ah thank you!! Glad you liked the video :)

      The GorillaBiker www.kfm-motorraeder.de/cms/en/genuine-spare-parts/honda-spare-parts?itemid=06311MFA309 there you go. At the moment the price has gone back up to full price of nearly €1000 but it tends to fluctuate. Definitely fixed mine from any further problems.

      The GorillaBiker the only other weak point I know on this bike is the spark plug caps, namely number three plug takes the most damage by ham fisted technicians that don’t remove the coils and (I think) the thermostat housing situated above it when replacing the plugs. They pull on the plug caps and they crack up inside. They are expensive to replace at around €70 each! If you google nut job.ie in Ireland, they are around half price if needed. A little care when removing saves pain in the pocket.

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They look good for now I had the bike apart after I bought it to look it over....I trust no one when it comes to my bikes 😂😂 But I am also known to be a bit hand fisted so I'll definitely keep an eye on that one thank you!

    Faultless bikes, I’ve had a 2016 cbf1000fa for a year and a half and have taken it to southern Spain last year with my girl on the back fully loaded and toured over the alps through northern Italy and back this July, my last day I did 610 miles home from Germany and it never missed a beat, if you want a bike that’ll clock 152mph on the autobahn and look after your every need look no further, I was looking to replace it but am at a loss what ever could at the moment, probably the most underrated bike ever

    I love my CBF1000, they suffer the Stator failure every now and then or rectifyer and regulator. Other than that very capable all rounder. I commute all year long only issues I've had is the TPS (common), stator and a misfire (plug). That's it. Great bike

    Up until last year the instructors at the Ron Haslam race school used these bikes and I can tell you with the right rider the CBF1000 can lap Donnington park deceptively fast ! Quite a lot of the time one handed !! Lol the guys I spoke to loved them ..bearing in mind they were putting in a serious number of laps each day. Great bike ...get it bought !

      I'm only 5'11" (long torso though) and I struggle with taller screens. Always buffeting my bonce. My K1200GT had a touring screen which was about 3 foot tall. Electrically adjustable but I just needed it an inch shorter on the lowest setting. It annoyed me so I distracted myself with 150bhp....I miss that.

      Andrew sonofboriskarloff I don’t think that was the case. It was to do with oil flow around the stator area and heat dissipation, along with the flywheel being too magnetic and creating heat also. A €450 updated stator and flywheel is available for those that wish to keep the bike long term and not suffer the dreaded stator problem. We covered 750 miles around Scotland in three days on mine and it was very comfortable.

    I own this bike, it is great, I think - with one exception: The transmission. Especially for a tourer, it is way too short. Plus: It has ridiculous small gear steps, I always did 1-2-4-6.

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  ปีที่แล้ว

      I ended up owning this one for 20k miles or so! Brilliant bike. I've spoken to a few who had a similar issue with the gearbox, I never personally felt it was overly bad and I used it daily and tried it on track.

      @@TheGorillaBiker Just compare it with, for example, a CB 1100 (90 HP). Even with just 5 unstead 6 gears a wider gear spread, plus much less rpm in the highest gear.

      @TheGorillaBiker  ปีที่แล้ว

      Very different engine in that bike to be fair and it's designed to be a throwback retro style bike. Anyway, I loved my CBF1000, a taller 6th gear would have been grand but genuinely didn't mind the stock gearing at all personally!

    • @TheCrankshaftRotator
      @TheCrankshaftRotator ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheGorillaBiker The engine is very similar (hp per liter, max. rpm, torque hight and rpm), just look at the datas. Same goes for the vehicles weight. The CBF 1000 reaches it max. hp at 8000, but the transmission is so short, that at the top speed you have almost 9500 rpm - normally it shoud correlate. Between the 5. th and the 6. th gear there's almost no difference. This is just a waste of fuel, and it didn't feel right - just as I use the 3. th unstead the highest gear.

    Awesome bikes; I absolutely love my MkII. You've got a Mk I there, the only issue to watch out for is the stator burning out (it's a thing, check the forums). Something to do with the design of the oil flow round the stator, worth carrying a spare if you go touring apparently. Easy fix though if it does go (and there are plenty of people who've had no issue). Otherwise - just an awesome machine.
    Also - black widow do some nice exhausts for the Mk 1.

    Top O' the mornin' to ya Brother,
    I only recently heard about the Honda CBF 1000 for rhe first time.
    Do you happen to know if they are
    available ti the USA market?
    But the closest Hondas I know of that are somewhat comparable to the CBF 100O, are the CBR1100XX Or the ST1300, in the US.
    I would like to have any of the three.

      They sadly are no available in the US, they are in Canada so you could possibly import one.
      Both are related, but distantly, the blackbird being very sporty seating wise and the st I just don't like, rides too much like a tourer!
      I'd have a blackbird tho.

    hp sometimes tells lies, like my old landrover had more hp than that bike, but it definatly wasnt faster, my current landrover has less hp but could still pull more weight/load, its about application of the hp and how much torque their is backing it up.
